The Best Independent Living Communities in New Hanover County, NC

"The Woods at Holly Tree was very spacious and very clean from what I've seen. The people were friendly. It was pretty good. I like it better than I did the other place. The staff was very nice, answered all my questions, and made me feel comfortable there. He did everything he could. He showed me everything and told me what was available and what wasn't available. The dining area looked very comfortable. They have movie nights, bingo, and an exercise room."

"I visited and the people were wonderful. Every person I met there was wonderful. They were trying to work with me very hard to get me in to one of their studio apartments. The rooms were nice. The studio was what I saw, and it was spacious enough to have a living room with a pull out bed. It had a little kitchenette with everything you needed. There was a laundry facility. There was a fine dining, and it was just awesome. There was a grand piano in the dining room. I played the piano, so that really intrigues me. I loved it. I would recommend it to somebody who had the money."

"We haven't moved yet, but I think we will be going to Cambridge Village of Wilmington. We like everything: it's brand new, beautiful, and the price is right, and it has an indoor salt water pool and a lovely hair salon. It just has everything, and they're close to the medical community down there in Wilmington, which is nice. The grounds are lovely. "

"Arbor Landing at Compass Pointe was top-notch. It's brand new. It's not even close to being capacity filled, but it's pricy. The staff was very nice. They have a library, numerous TV seating areas, in-house movie theater, and laundry facilities. It's all independent living, but if you want assisted living, there is a third-party company onsite that you can pay a la carte for each service that you want."

"Arbor Landing at Hampstead was originally where my mother was going to live. It's an independent living community. I visited there and we had an apartment set up for my mother and we were moving her there from another location in North Carolina just to be close to us, but then she ended up getting sick and she couldn't go in. However, they're excellent. If there's anybody ever looking for a senior living community, I would highly recommend them. It's lovely. The people that run it are excellent. They have activities that you can imagine. We weren't able to partake in it because my mother couldn't live there after all, but I know they were very active and they had lots of things going on. There are studios, 1-bedrooms and 2-bedrooms, and they're very nice. It's like three years old, so they're more modern. It's a lovely community for people that are still independently living."
