My mom has moved into the independent living of Portside at Grande Dunes. It's great because it has up-to-date decor. It's almost brand new, just 2 years old, and it's just beautiful. Her apartment is also beautiful, everything is updated, and it's just the right size for her. It's decently priced too. I ran into an issue with the billing department, which wasn't good, but everything else has been just wonderful and perfect. We went to an open house there before so I have tried the food, and it was great. As far as I know, there is always a lot of life going around there, a lot of movement, and that's always good at a place like that. I like that they have activities all the time. They gave my mom a little bit of a discount for her monthly rent, and it covered breakfast and dinner. I compared them with other facilities, and they were on par or even below the usual prices so I feel like it's a good value.

I toured Portside at Grande Dunes. I love everything. I love the site. I like the facility, the service, the food, and they do a lot of stuff. They have a lot of field trips and they have guest speakers, they have movies, they have everything, which is why it's so expensive. I went to a room and I was very pleased with the layout. It's sparkling clean. It's bright and sunny. It's just perfect. They have restaurant-like dining. It's very elegant, and you order from a menu, and they have their own chef.

What a great place for Mom! The first thing I noticed was that not only did the folks working there seemed happy and liked their jobs, the residents all looked happy. There was always something to do and someone to do it with. Food transitioned a few times to better service and better meals. Management meets with the residents and even listens to how they can make it better. When Mom transitioned to assisted living, the process was seamless and painless. I always felt like Mom was safe and cared for. A resident isn’t just a room number. Administration, management, reception, maintenance and everyone else knew residents by name and what was going on with them. Terrific facility and staff.

We went on a tour of Portside at Grande Dunes. It was larger, so it was bigger and noisier. I noticed that there was no carpet in the rooms and there were large closets. I have a lot of art supplies, and I may teach a class when I want to settle down there, but I furnish everything. The staff was very nice and helpful. They answered any questions we had. We had no problem with them. Everything went very well. Everything looked green and the building looked nice. I did not notice anything out of order. It felt like everyone who needed attention got it.

We toured Portside at Grande Dunes. I liked the size because it can accommodate our furniture. The people were extremely friendly and very helpful. It is close to the hospital, which was another plus for us. They have a big refrigerator. The person who took us around was excellent. She explained everything and helped me out with the insurance that I had. She told me what I could do, how to handle things, and all kinds of stuff. They have activities, and some people will assist you if you need it. The building was very clean.

I toured Portside at Grande Dunes. It was great. The people are very caring and very nice. The place itself is beautiful. A very nice place. They had meals and once a week cleaned the apartment. They have a lot of amenities. Saltwater pool and it's a warm pool. They have all kinds of activities. They have craft and exercise training.

Portside at Grande Dunes was beautiful. It was very clean and all the amenities were nice. The apartment was also beautiful. Everything was brand new and spacious. Lauren was very helpful and very knowledgeable. There were plenty of activities. They take trips to the food store/Target/Walmart, they have happy hour three times a week, reading clubs, and movies. It's unbelievable. You can order off the menu and it looked like they had a whole lot of different selections.

Portside at Grande Dunes was beautiful, bright, cheery, and clean. Our tour was very nice. All of our questions were answered. It was a very thorough tour, and we were just very pleased overall. Everybody was very friendly, attentive, and very nice. We saw the beauty salon, the activity room, and the exercise room. We saw the entire facility. Everything was just very nice. We were very pleased with what we saw. We saw the dining room.

I visited the independent living at Portside at Grande Dunes but was given information about the assisted living option. The person that showed us around did a great job. I was able to give her a heads up on the kinds of things that my dad could use extra information on, like kind of understanding the difference between independent living and assisted living. She did a great job of explaining that and how that works. One of the advantages of Portside is that people, depending on their needs, can start in one place like independent living, and then if the need arises, there is another level of care that they could move to within the complex. We met several people along the way, and they were very friendly and engaging. They seemed very nice during the time that we were visiting. My dad got a copy of the menus, but we did not stay for a meal. It's fairly new, so it's very beautiful inside. There were nice seating spaces on the first floor and there were residents that were seated there, kind of chatting. It seemed like people were very engaged. The nice thing about Portside is each of the independent living units has a small balcony off of the living room. It's got like a French door that goes out to a balcony and it's really nice that my dad could go out and have his cup of coffee outside without having to go down outside of the building. It's right off of his own living room if he chose to live there. They had a very nice courtyard off of their luncheon area. They have a heated pool that we were able to see. They had very nice amenities throughout.

Mandy toured us around Portside at Grande Dunes. She was very knowledgeable and friendly. She made sure that she spoke to my aunt asking what she wanted versus what we wanted. She was very friendly and accommodating. It's a brand new place, so it was really pretty. I enjoyed looking at it. They have activities, outings, a beauty shop, a walking area, and a kids zone area if you have kids visiting with you.

My sister and I toured this community at Portside at Grand Dunes. The name Grand Dunes is a luxury name within the Greater Myrtle Beach area. We except the same when going to tour this community. Grand Dunes name says it all, unfortunately so does the price tag, over $7k for my Mom if she lived in the Assisted Living and if lived in Memory side closer to $9-$10k. Wow… guess paying for all the bells & whistles. Honestly, all the amenities appealed more to us as kids, but my Mom “kept saying that was nice, but she would NEVER uses those amenities, especially cause all of the extra fees associated with the amenities. We asked about flooding due to the closeness to the beach and before this neighborhood was build, this area flooded every time it rained more than 2” inches of rain. They said it never flooded. Don’t believe that, all of their generators are build up 16 feet… don’t believe them. Now if your a millionaire, definitely the community for you. We will be looking elsewhere for a more affordable community.

My mother is here. The staff is friendly and accommodating. They've been really wonderful to her and very helpful for us, too. They don't have lunch there. They just have breakfast and dinner; it would be great if they could also have lunch. It's a very nice facility, and there's a very full schedule of activities and events.
