"I toured the Inlet Coastal Resort. I like the size of the facility. It was small. The assisted living population was approximately 35 residents, which I appreciated versus a much larger population. There was one level, which also was nice in a circular fashion, which I thought was helpful in terms of navigating where things are. It appeared clean. I had one person who took me around. She was very knowledgeable, and helpful, and answered all my questions. There's a variety of rooms. Some were big, some medium, and some small. I saw about 3 or 4 different rooms, and they're all different sizes."

"I went to Myrtle Beach Grove Senior Living. Everything was very nice. I had an encounter with the person who took me on tour when a couple of the residents there stopped her and asked her questions, she was very kind and informative to them. Also, they were in the middle of cooking dinner, and the food smelled good. It's a little older building, but I like that everything is on one floor. It is very nicely landscaped outside, too."

"I was very, very impressed with Brookdale Conway South Carolina, and also with the staff that assisted me, and took the time to talk with me about my friend and what her needs were. It was very clean. The people that I saw there were sitting around playing games and enjoying themselves. They had a lot of amenities, like their dining room. They had, I guess, a register cook there. They had drinks for the people who were mingling in the open space. They had juice and different things that people could get between lunch and dinner. It was just a very nice place. In the social area, they had some water with different fruits in it. Everything was healthy. She gave me a cup of that to taste. It was very good. They went out of their way to do everything they could to help me find the right place for my friend. They did a lot of follow-ups with me to see if I'd found a place. I was very pleased with Brookdale."

"My husband is at Indigo at Carolina Forest. They are very attentive to him. He gets good care. It's a very nice place. They are very informative. I was able to tour and speak with them prior to him being admitted. They followed up and met all my needs to get him transferred. I didn't taste the food, but they have a buffet, and it looks great. It is very clean. The entire facility is very modern, nice, up-to-date, and equipped. They have a lot of activities available, but he is limited in what he can do right now. I would say the value for money is very reasonable for the services and the place. It's a nice place, and I think they're very fair on their prices."

"I toured Anderson Oaks Assisted Living. My tour was with Justin. He was the executive director, a very nice young man, very informative. He worked in the ward that had veterans that not only had dementia, they also had PTSD. He got an exposure to knowing what was needed. He took me all around. The facility wasn't as great as the first one, but they had two things. They had only one resident per room and I did ask him what would happen when the money ran out and he said that the resident would not have to move. They would help the resident get Medicaid to cover the expense. They had three meals. They had 24-hour available snacks and drinks. They also had if they didn't like what were having, they could have super sandwiches. They also had the main menu and a little menu if you didn't like it."

"My mom has moved into the independent living of Portside at Grande Dunes. It's great because it has up-to-date decor. It's almost brand new, just 2 years old, and it's just beautiful. Her apartment is also beautiful, everything is updated, and it's just the right size for her. It's decently priced too. I ran into an issue with the billing department, which wasn't good, but everything else has been just wonderful and perfect. We went to an open house there before so I have tried the food, and it was great. As far as I know, there is always a lot of life going around there, a lot of movement, and that's always good at a place like that. I like that they have activities all the time. They gave my mom a little bit of a discount for her monthly rent, and it covered breakfast and dinner. I compared them with other facilities, and they were on par or even below the usual prices so I feel like it's a good value."

"I went to Spring Oak Conway. It was a little bit too far out for what I needed. The staff was very pleasant. They were very knowledgeable, very patient, and very caring. They were cleaning the facility while I was there. The rooms are adequate. The dining area was a nice size and it looked fairly clean."

"Garden Manor had small apartments. There was a library and a small place in the back where you could plant flowers. They served one nice big meal a day. If you wanted something for later in the evening, you could get a box of food to take with you. They would come and clean once a week. They went on trips for shopping in a van. It was just what I needed. The people were very nice, very friendly, and outgoing. "

"We are choosing Inlet Oaks Assisted Living & Memory Care for my sister. The place was clean. The staff was very nice, caring, and very professional. The apartments were spacious and clean, and the residents were very nice. The price was also convenient. We toured the place twice, and each time we went there they had some kind of gathering for the residents and family members. One was Veterans Day, and then the other one was just a meet and greet with the families."

"The Palmettos of Garden City is wonderful. It's brand new, very clean, open, and airy. They have a lot of common areas to sit and socialize. Their staff is wonderful, I met their medical and nursing directors and activities director and they're all very caring and enthusiastic. It's conveniently located and the grounds are very nice, it's tucked away in a lot of trees. My father's room is a studio, it's a little smaller and pricier than some of the other places, but it's manageable. It has a large bathroom, with cable, Wi-Fi, and a telephone provided for free. All utilities are covered. In addition to three meals, they have unlimited snacks throughout the day. There's also a little bistro area where you can socialize and they have a happy hour every day."

"My friend moved into St Gabriel of Murrells Inlet. It was convenient, and they were willing to take my friend because she's a memory care patient. It was in close proximity to where her family could reach her. The care from the nurses is outstanding. They were very attentive, very caring, and patient. When I was there, they did dine out and gave the residents pizza. They have workstations and games, and they take them on outings."

"Private rooms with ample space for some furniture. The facility is well-kept and is currently undergoing some rehabilitation. There are no lingering odors, and the rooms are cleaned quite frequently especially the bathrooms. The memory care staff are all caring and attend to the needs of the residence with a "smile" which can be a challenge at times. My wife has been at the Lakes for over a year and a half and I am pleased that this facility was selected. The Business Office is managed by Kara, and she has gone out of her way to help me resolve an insurance issue. If you have the financial resources this community is worth and evaluation."

"Reflections Assisted Living is not a new facility. I think it's been there for 20 years or so, but it is well-kept. It's an easy location to get to for visitors. We went in last weekend completely unannounced, and it looked spotless (for a weekend). I can't say anything but good things about the upkeep there. We have not been back to visit my sister-in-law, because we wanted to get her settled in first, but as far as I can tell, she's settled in very well. We were most pleased by the fact that the manager was able to work with the hospital that she was leaving by looking at her documents over the weekend so we were able to get her out of the hospital and into the facility within three days. That was one of the most important things to us, was getting there quickly. Now that she is there, we're very pleased with the place. Jordan and the head nurse have been very helpful to keep me updated about what was going on. The facility could have been a little more modern, but the truth is, even if the brick is not the shiny stuff that some of them are made of and it's not stories, it looks more like a home with a big door right in front. For people that age, I think they might like the fact that they don't have to go up elevators. It has a homey feeling inside."

"Watercrest Myrtle Beach was stunning. It smelled good, and it was just gorgeous. They had a very attentive staff. They had a diverse food selection for different residents who may have different food needs. The style was more like a luxury hotel than an assisted living facility. It was very homey, very comfortable, and very welcoming. Everyone there was very engaged. Their chef made a dozen of freshly baked cookies for my parents that morning - 6 oatmeal cookies and 6 chocolate chip cookies as a welcome gesture. It was above and beyond, and they had them sent to my parents in the hospital. Where most assisted living facilities have a little eating area, theirs looked more like a restaurant. They didn't have specific hours where the residents could eat. Somebody would come take your order, and they would make you whatever you want."

"I talked with people from other assisted living facilities and no one was able or willing to do what Magnolias did. Magnolias accepted my father as a resident at a reduced monthly rate and they're helping him to obtain his VA benefits. When my father's VA benefits begin Magnolias will be reimbursed retroactive. Magnolias of Myrtle Beach is a nice facility with decent caring people. I've been there many times to visit and I talk with the residents and they like being there.Visit and see for yourself. "

"I placed my mom in this facility during COVID based on the personal experience of a friend who had a family member living there. My mom lived there almost 4 years and I had to move her out to conserve her funds. She wasn't happy about that, but I did what we had to do. To sum up my experience, she loved it there and I moved her back one year later into the skilled nursing side due to her onset of Cancer. She lost her battle and finished her days in the very place it all began when I moved her here in 2020 from NYS. I can't say enough about the nursing care she was given. The facility is very welcoming and caring and my mom loved some of the caregivers that she remembered from day one. That meant a lot that she felt at "home" there. I drive by the Manor from time to time and want to stop in.....but can't. I will never forget this past almost 5 years. My last comment is this.....when it came time to have her placed in a SNF during her Cancer treatments, MBM was the ONLY facility that didn't treat us like an Investment! It does get difficult sometimes when family has the responsibility to take care of their parents. She ended up where she began and it was meant to be. I couldn't be more thankful."
