"Shallotte Assisted Living is an old but nicely maintained facility. It's awesome and closest to where we live. My father-in-law is extremely satisfied with the food, and he’s picky. He’s in a private, adequate room. "

"It was a little older, but it was nice. But, for me, it was little farther out, so I would prefer something closer to where I live. When we were there, they were getting ready to have a Valentine's Party, and it was very nice. They had a DJ, and it was very interesting."

"My sister is at River Park Senior Living. I found the facility attractive. The staff members were very helpful, accommodating, and friendly. Besides meals, they have an exercise program. They bring people in for entertainment. They got my sister a cake, and they had a little birthday party for her. They have a beautiful screened-in porch that they can sit on and enjoy the weather and flowers. The dining area looked like a little restaurant with tables. They have a menu posted every day, so they know what breakfast, lunch, and dinner are. From what I have observed, the meals look pretty good. It was not cheap."

"My wife has been at the Landings for the past 10 months. And I have been there for hours almost every day during this period. As such, I've had a bird's eye view of the facility, the procedures and most importantly the care my wife has received from the staff. Without exception, I can say that the staff has been incredibly kind and supportive of my wife and all others in the memory care unit. Caring for those with dementia and related issues is not easy and not for everyone. During these past months I never saw a staff member criticize, scoff, roll one's eyes or otherwise show disdain to a resident. My wife's condition continues to decline, and the staff has adjusted nicely to these changes. in fact, they've been quite creative in addressing unanticipated issues. I wholeheartedly recommend the Landings to you if you're looking at assisted living facilities in this area. And by the way, the management is hands on, the facilities are outstanding and the food is surprisingly good."

"We liked Myrtle Beach Manor very much. The rooms were just like a studio, but it was nice, and it is probably all that my mother needs. The staff was excellent. They were very informative, and they explained all their activities and how they look after the people there. It was very nice and very clean. "

"My mother-in-law moved to Hope Arbor, and they're doing a great job taking care of her. I think the food is good. She gets out three times a day for the meals. The cost is reasonable compared to everything. I would recommend them."

"I went to Brightwater. The director was open, honest, welcoming, and gave me a tour right away. She was very polite, introduced me to everybody as we walked around, and I've also spoken to the admissions director. She's timely, understanding so far, very pleasant, accommodating, and everything is so far so good. It looked clean, neat, and they were going to have activities to keep people active. I also have friends that worked there over the years, volunteered there, and said good things. It looked like a place where my mom has more vibes, and a country-esque feel. I was excited with the pool. I thought it would be easier for my mom to do stuff. They were doing sing-along when I walked through. They also had an ice cream room, and they were getting ready for Valentine's day. The activities director seemed very pleasant, too."

"I talked with people from other assisted living facilities and no one was able or willing to do what Magnolias did. Magnolias accepted my father as a resident at a reduced monthly rate and they're helping him to obtain his VA benefits. When my father's VA benefits begin Magnolias will be reimbursed retroactive. Magnolias of Myrtle Beach is a nice facility with decent caring people. I've been there many times to visit and I talk with the residents and they like being there.Visit and see for yourself. "

"Watercrest Myrtle Beach is a new facility. Residential relationships had not been formed yet and my mother was going in basically on the ground level, along with the new residents who were all moving in. So, that was a positive thing. The facility itself has a lot to provide. The one-bedroom apartment she is in is a good size and is accessible to the dining room, the beauty parlor, the exercise facilities, the pool, and everything. They have a small putting green and a nice patio facility as well. It is competitively priced. We were able to lock the price for the unit for two years. Another thing that was quite appealing to us was the dining room is open from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. You just go in and order what you want, whenever you want. They don't have specific dining times and my mother has enjoyed the food so far. The staff has been excellent. They do various activities every day with the residents that are both physical and mental. Then they take them out for trips like a week ago, they went to Broadway at the Beach. They have an excellent program and a program director."

"I would say it was a fairly good experience. I was visiting my grandpa and it was first visit there. The facility seemed very warm and open--and looked as though it had many amenities for the residents there to enjoy/do. The staff there was helpful and most of them seemed as though they liked what they did (you have some instances where you go to places like that and it will seem as though staff is 'just there' w/ a cold/indifferent disposition). The only thing I would say could have been a negative, I suppose would have been that somewhat stale smell of urine in some areas, like in the sitting area where I guess everyone watches TV (and where guest/family can sit w/ their loved ones their visiting, as is where we were). It wasn't extremely strong or anything, it was faint, but it was still a slightly off-putting when I did catch a whiff of it. "
