"We toured Portside at Grande Dunes. I liked the size because it can accommodate our furniture. The people were extremely friendly and very helpful. It is close to the hospital, which was another plus for us. They have a big refrigerator. The person who took us around was excellent. She explained everything and helped me out with the insurance that I had. She told me what I could do, how to handle things, and all kinds of stuff. They have activities, and some people will assist you if you need it. The building was very clean."

"The Indigo at Carolina Forest is my favorite. I visited their independent living community, and the staff is excellent and very friendly. They introduced me as we went throughout the building. They gave an excellent tour and feedback on the different facilities and the things they had to offer. The dining area was particularly pleasant. I saw a lot of resident interaction there, and that was probably the most positive point for this place. It looked like the residents were engaged and interacting."

"I chose here because it's close to the area that I've lived in for the last 15-20 years. As a community, it sort of gives you as much assistance as you need but lets you be as independent as you can be. It's been good. The room has a lot of room in it, lots of closet spaces, and room for furniture. It has a small kitchen with a full-size refrigerator. It has an outside patio, a nice outdoors outside the unit. The food is good, you get 3 meals a day with usually 2 different choices for each meal or two different entrees. You choose one or the other. There's a menu weekly so you'd know ahead of time what you're going to reserve. The food is filling, you're not stuffed but you're full. At times it could be better but it's usually good."

"My sister is at River Park Senior Living. I found the facility attractive. The staff members were very helpful, accommodating, and friendly. Besides meals, they have an exercise program. They bring people in for entertainment. They got my sister a cake, and they had a little birthday party for her. They have a beautiful screened-in porch that they can sit on and enjoy the weather and flowers. The dining area looked like a little restaurant with tables. They have a menu posted every day, so they know what breakfast, lunch, and dinner are. From what I have observed, the meals look pretty good. It was not cheap."

"It is brand new; it just opened. The facilities look lovely. The apartments are nice, and they have a beautiful dining room. They seem to offer all the services that you could possibly want. It's in a good location. The staff who assisted us during the visit was very informative, answered all the questions, and made me feel comfortable that that it would be a place that I could choose to live. Their amenities seem to be adequate. Any of the services you would want such as a beauty parlor or gym are available. The staff who gave the tour is excellent. It's brand new and looks lovely."

"Mom has been at Sunset Creek Commons for 4 years now. She has a really nice apartment there. She wears a medical alert necklace. The thing that I like the best is the manager and the maintenance help. They stay on top of things, and they are very responsive if there's an issue with the apartment. The place is very clean. They have a no smoking policy, which I like. If they catch someone smoking, then they are evicted. They go into the apartments twice a year to inspect them and make sure that people are keeping their apartments clean. If not, they are given a timeline of cleaning it up. They have a meeting room that they can use. Occasionally, they have a potluck dinner."
