"I toured Spring Oak Conway. I like the location. The location is convenient, and the price is competitive. The least that I like is, it's located close to a busy highway. The director is fantastic. The building is old, but it's clean. It has a warm and inviting atmosphere."

"My mother is here. The staff is friendly and accommodating. They've been really wonderful to her and very helpful for us, too. They don't have lunch there. They just have breakfast and dinner; it would be great if they could also have lunch. It's a very nice facility, and there's a very full schedule of activities and events."

"My sister was at Lakes of Litchfield for one year. Overall we had a very good experience. Denise is exceptionally friendly and helpful with move in and move out. My sister's 2 bedroom apartment was spacious and got a lot of sunlight. Community communication is very good, as the general manager gives phone updates about many things. Repairs were performed in a timely manner and the housekeepers were awesome! Drivers were pleasant. The restaurant had several hiccups around staffing during my sister's stay but residents were kept well informed. The food was good however could have been more basic for our particular tastes with more vegetables. Our only problems with this company revolved around money. For our particular situation, it was not sustainable in the long term. When my sister moved out, she did not get back her $2,500 damage deposit although the apartment was in very good condition. No pictures were hung and there was no damage. We left it pretty clean; staff would have had minimal effort to do a deep clean. The contract reads that the company can deduct for "refurbishment costs". I was told verbally after move out that if someone lives there more than 6 months, the individual never gets the damage deposit back. I am a landlord of several properties, and this is not an industry standard. I never charge tenants for normal wear and tear, only for any damage they caused. Management may want to change the wording of their contract so future terminating tenants will not get the rude surprise that we have had, $2,500 out of pocket later."

"My mom will move into Legacy Village of Murrells Inlet. We chose them because we toured several, maybe five or six different places up there, and that one had a lot of staff. There are several different floor plans. We didn't choose the bottom of the line. We didn't choose the top of the line. We chose in the middle. We chose the plus one. It's going to work nicely. She's getting a double bed. She'll have a recliner. She has a dresser in her room. It's got a counter, sink, cabinet, and a place to put a coffee maker, and a small-sized refrigerator. There is an enormous closet. So, she has more closet space than she could ever use. There are lots of walls to hang pictures on. The bathroom is a great size. Plus, the bathroom that she has allows us the opportunity to put a large piece of furniture in the bathroom to use for storage for sheets or whatever other things that she needs. So, you can take a wardrobe and a dresser with you and utilize both of them at this facility. We're also going to get her a small table and two chairs. They've just gone under a remodel because they used to be the guardian, and two gentlemen are the new owners. They redid everything. Everything is new. Everything's up to date. From what I can see, it looks extremely clean. All the fixtures were up to date, as well as all the decorations and the home decor. It wasn't something that was maybe 10 or 20 years old. Everything was brand new. Everyone has been fantastic. They have one maintenance man, and as things were being delivered before she was even there, he started to put things together for her. They set up the TV. They put new bars in the shower. Dave is the maintenance man. He'll come and do everything for you."

"I visited Hope Arbor of Murrells Inlet. The location is good and the place is clean. The grounds are really nice and they have transportation for the residents. The staff was very polite and professional. The only problem is that highway 707 is undergoing a two-year planned road widening project. The noise and traffic will be awful."

"Garden Manor had small apartments. There was a library and a small place in the back where you could plant flowers. They served one nice big meal a day. If you wanted something for later in the evening, you could get a box of food to take with you. They would come and clean once a week. They went on trips for shopping in a van. It was just what I needed. The people were very nice, very friendly, and outgoing. "

"The Palmettos of Garden City is wonderful. It's brand new, very clean, open, and airy. They have a lot of common areas to sit and socialize. Their staff is wonderful, I met their medical and nursing directors and activities director and they're all very caring and enthusiastic. It's conveniently located and the grounds are very nice, it's tucked away in a lot of trees. My father's room is a studio, it's a little smaller and pricier than some of the other places, but it's manageable. It has a large bathroom, with cable, Wi-Fi, and a telephone provided for free. All utilities are covered. In addition to three meals, they have unlimited snacks throughout the day. There's also a little bistro area where you can socialize and they have a happy hour every day."

"The owner is very attentive to clients needs. The staff is kind. The facility has activities such as bingo and chair exercise every morning form 9-11 am. Resident go out to eat as well as for holidays such as the 4th of July. Accompanied by staff to see fire works. Residents are provided with foot care and proper hair grooming such as cuts! This facility is small but I’d privately owned and is great I recommend this facility "

"We found a facility called South Island Assisted Living for my ex-husband. We chose this facility, for it fits as far as the budget that we can afford. The facility was very nice, and everyone was also very nice. He has a private room, and it’s very nice. The staff were very accommodating. They do play bingo and do puzzles, but he is not interested in any of those. The dining area is nice, and he said that the food is good. "

"My father was here and the staff and the service were a life saver to my mom who had been the caregiver for years. Although you are always reluctant to turn a loved one over to the care of another person or facility, it is sometimes necessary and after visiting other places, we immediately knew this was the only place we wanted our loved one to be. This facility is managed by a group of wonderful Christian people and my mother also knew them from church and the community which helped to make us even more secure with our decision. They were very personable and took great care of my father's daily needs. They are very concerned with the well being of all the patients and the facility is extremely clean;upon entrance, it is very homey feeling and decorated like a home so you will be proud of when people visit your loved one. I can't say enough positive things about the service they provided in a time most needed. My mother was at the facility almost daily and grew to know the staff and other members like family; there was no other place in Myrtle Beach, Conway, or locally we would have ever considered to care for my father so although it's never an easy decision, you can rest at night knowing your loved ones are here and well taken care of! "

"Watercrest Myrtle Beach was stunning. It smelled good, and it was just gorgeous. They had a very attentive staff. They had a diverse food selection for different residents who may have different food needs. The style was more like a luxury hotel than an assisted living facility. It was very homey, very comfortable, and very welcoming. Everyone there was very engaged. Their chef made a dozen of freshly baked cookies for my parents that morning - 6 oatmeal cookies and 6 chocolate chip cookies as a welcome gesture. It was above and beyond, and they had them sent to my parents in the hospital. Where most assisted living facilities have a little eating area, theirs looked more like a restaurant. They didn't have specific hours where the residents could eat. Somebody would come take your order, and they would make you whatever you want."

"My mom has been in Magnolias of Myrtle Beach for three months now. It was recommended to us by her physician. We shopped all around in the area and kind of decided on another one, but when we went to her doctor to get the TB test that was necessary before you go in a facility, her doctor said, "Don't decide on anything until you go see this one (Magnolias of Myrtle Beach)." So we went and had lunch there and talked to the director, it was so good that my mom wanted to move in the next day. We love the staff, the administrator, and everybody there. It is really great! We also love the location, the facilities, etc. We just love everything about it. It is just that good. I would recommend it to others, in fact, I already had. I'm really pleased with this facility. "

"My husband & I moved into Brightwater almost 9 years ago. Brightwater is a wonderful place to live and all of needs are taken care of. The staff cares about you and how you are doing even as one of you needs a higher level of care. The Staff took such good care of my husband through the years. My husband loved his purple sunglasses from the Mardi Gras parade and if he was having a tough day, his nurses knew if they put the glasses on it would make him laugh! There are so many amenities that benefit our health. The WAVES program in the pool was one of my husband’s favorite activities, it allowed him to focus on getting stronger and healthy as long as possible. Anything you need, the staff will find a solution to make you comfortable and at home. There is wonderful entertainment for special occasions and sometimes just because it’s Brightwater. I can have my meals delivered to my villa on days I’m not feeling like going out. Thank you "

"My mother is currently staying at Compass Post Acute Rehabilitation. They're in lockdown, and I can only do window visits with her. They had a person test positive, so they're on lock down for fourteen days. She has aphasia and she's hard of hearing, so that's kind of hard. She has a roommate; they just moved her down closer to the nursing station. I guess she's OK there. I can't really say too much about the facility. It seems to be maintained, and her room seems kept up. I called down there to check on her. I'm taking her clothes. She has a prosthetic, and she's had a mastectomy. I've told them twice to make sure that she's wearing it when they dress her. I noticed when I went down to visit last week, they didn't have it on her; I don't know if they're doing it now. It's hard to say. She's receiving physical therapy, and she has aphasia. When I ask her how's that going, she doesn't say too much, so it's hard to say. When I took her stuff out there, they wouldn't let me take it back to her because they said they were all locked down, and it was just frustrating."
