Garden Plaza of Aurora was a beautiful place. The staff was very nice. I have no complaints. My friend's studio room was beautiful, and clean, with a kitchen area, a refrigerator, a microwave, a sink, a TV, and a bathroom, and it sufficed for all her needs. They had a huge bulletin board with a lot of activities on it. It adequately helped the residents to keep active. They had a beauty salon and a courtyard. The food was great, and the dining area had nice tablecloths. Whenever I was there, it was great food.

BEWARE-Really a substandard Assisted living with poor substandard medical services with pathetic unsupervised on site physician assistant working in the facility (no physician on site causing poor outcome) as my loved one was seen by her with clinical evaluation revealed no concerning findings but went to ED with sepsis. Delay in care led to poor outcome.

I take care of a lady that is at Garden Plaza here in Aurora. The larger portion is called The Garden Plaza and she's at The Bridge which is their assisted living part. The facility is great and the people are just okay. I just don't think, a lot of times, that they have the patience for their patients. The lady that I take care of, had some dementia, and there have been a couple of times when they've been rude with her. They told her they were not going to take her on the bus anymore, which takes people to their appointments and things like that because she was upset that they were taking her to a different hairdresser, one time. She was agitated because she didn't know where she was going and they got angry with her and just told her to call me if she ever wants a ride, that they were not going to take her anywhere, anymore. That upset me. The director over there is relatively new, his name is Ralph, and I will say that I don't care for him very much. There have been a couple of situations where he hasn't been a very good problem solver and just isn't responsive, many times. The person I take care of was my mom's best friend and my mom was her designated person. My mom passed away so I've inherited her. She's a family friend.

We have moved into Garden Plaza at Aurora. I like that the people are very friendly and seem happy, we get 3 meals a day, everything's bright and cheery, and they have very helpful staff. They also have spacious rooms, they're small but spacious. We've only been here a week and we're still moving, so we haven't participated in their activities. Their New Year's Eve party seemed like a fun one though. We didn't go because we're too tired but it sure sounded like it was fun. They have common spaces, a beauty shop, an exercise room, a library, and card playing. They have a large living room type of area and lots of smaller gathering areas. They have transportation too. We're in independent living.

The Independent Living is a beautiful property. The rooms are roomy and updated. Several commented that the food wasn't that good. I noticed two dishes are offered on the menu per meal. Dessert is usually ice cream. Not much variety. The more important concern is the communication. I emailed the Director twice regarding a medical situation for my mother and got no response. The medical emergency info is not kept at the front desk and the receptionists aren't well informed above very basic information. If there was an emergency the front desk is not well prepared.

We toured Garden Plaza of Aurora. They have security in the bathroom, the bedroom, and the living room. If a senior didn't feel good or whatever, they had that security system set up where you could just pull it, and they'll get help. The other thing is that they will lease month to month, so if you end up not liking it five months from now, you're not waiting for your one-year lease to run out. The other thing is the security items they have in the three rooms. Every morning the resident has to push the button by ten o'clock, and that lets them know that everything's OK. If you don't push the security button, then they'll try to call you. If you don't answer, then they send somebody up to your room. The place was very, very clean. They do housekeeping, they clean the residents apartments once a week, and they change the sheets once a week. So, it sounds pretty good. The room's space is just enough for a bedroom, a bathroom, a living room, and a kitchen combination. That's about it for the one-bedrooms. The dining area looks pretty good. They have tablecloths and three-to-five chairs around the table so that you can mingle if you wish. It looks very good. They have a shuttle to take residents to Black Hawk, I think once a month or once a week, something like that. They also have movies, and we saw people come in and lecture, if you're interested in that. You get tons of stuff like pool tables and game rooms. They have a little bit of everything for the residents to do.

We're very happy here at Garden Plaza of Aurora. The building itself is beautifully decorated. It's very warm and attractive as you walk in the front door. The staff here has been fantastic. We've had a couple of medical emergencies and they were right there to help and they made me feel very comfortable. The only problem we have here is they're very slow in getting the food out of the kitchen. The food selection is good, but sometimes the service is very slow. Other than that, I've been happy with everything. They have good activities. We're in a 1-bedroom, 1-bath apartment, and it's very comfortable. We have a bistro cafe where they serve soup, sandwiches, and salad every Friday. We can also get coffee, milk, juices, soft drinks, and yogurt anytime we want. So you can go in there instead of going into the dining hall, and we find that to be very comfortable. There's a beauty shop where they do hair and nails for men and women. There's also housekeeping weekly. The public areas are well-appointed and kept nicely. We have lounges on each wing of every floor. We have happy hour on Thursdays where they serve wines and snacks. It's such a comfortable place to be.

We decided to relocate my mother to the Garden Plaza after taking several tours. The community relatively new, opened about 5 or 6 years ago and seems to be very well maintained. The staff was very friendly, especially Luke. The residents we met during our tours were friendly and spoke highly of the community. The Garden Plaza gives my mother the ability to enjoy independent living with most of the assisting living options included at no extra cost (daily wellness checks, 3 meals a day, housekeeping, transportation, etc.). The monthly costs are very reasonable compared to other like facilities in the area.and we had toured a number of these before settling on the Garden Plaza.

Garden Plaza was very nice, very friendly, well planned out, and a little expensive, but they all are. The staff was very nice and friendly. The amenities were very good, and they offer a lot of things, more than I was expecting. There was transportation for a very minimal price to take you to a lot of different places, doctors' appointments, the grocery store, and more. There was exercise room with machines plus classes. The utilities included cable, internet, and telephone. They do housekeeping once a week, which means they come in and clean your little apartment. They also launder your towels, linens, and sheets, and make up the bed. I would recommend them. It’s a fairly new facility with nice garden areas.

Garden Plaza of Aurora is filled with wonderful residents but the company that owns them is a miss. The new executive director is uncaring and only cares about herself and the corporate folks are only about training the residents to due want they want them to do. They have not compassion for them.

Garden Plaza is not quite as depressing as any other facility because it is independent living. The staff knows everyone by name, and is very friendly, dependable, and careful.

My mother-in-law is in Garden Plaza of Aurora, and so far, all I can say are wonderful things. I have nothing negative to say. From the very first time we walked in there, it was immaculate. The staff intermingles with the people that live there always. The man who took us around knew every resident by name, and they knew him and they seemed to really like him a lot. He's very friendly, very kind, and very informative to everything that we had questions about. It's a beautiful place. She has her own little apartment and someone comes in and checks on her at least every two hours, unless she needs help, then she rings her little buzzer and they come right away. They assist her to go to dinner, to crafts or sing-alongs or whatever they have. If she wants to go outside, they will assist her to go outside. We've eaten there a couple of times, and the food is pretty good considering it's an institutionalized place. If they don't like what they're having for their main meal of the day, they can order off of a menu. There are many choices and varieties that they can have. There are cafes on each floor where they can go and get beverages, cookies, brownies, etc. We have been in her room almost every day, and it's never ever been dirty. There's absolutely no smell of urine in that facility. It's just marvelous. She has been there now about six weeks. It's a good location for us.

I went to Garden Plaza of Aurora for a meeting and I thought this was an attractive facility. The facility was well kept and the lobby was attractive. The personnel I met were open and enthused about their property. Their staff were also very helpful and very nice. I talked to a woman that was there when I went outside and she was all dressed up and had makeup on and her attitude seemed very positive. I asked her how she enjoyed the facility and she said she the facility is nice. She had good things to say about it. It just impressed me.

My mother is in Garden Plaza and we chose this facility because of its location. The place is really nice and they have activities everyday. The food tasted pretty good and is in consideration of a balanced diet.
