"It was beautiful and I was impressed with the whole facility. It was clean and the people looked happy. It just looked like a nice place to live. The rooms were beautiful and very clean. They looked brand new to me, the walls were painted with nice colors, and the carpeting was nice. The kitchen was nice. I just saw studios because that's all that we would be interested in. I could have moved in there myself. The dining area was very nice and very comfortable. I think my mom would be happy in a place like that. They talked to me about the different activities. I saw some ladies playing cards and I think that there were a lot of nice amenities for them. The director gave me the tour, and she was very nice."

"I went to Jaxpointe Assisted Living Saulsbury Court Memory Care Homes. It's wonderful. It's absolutely beautiful. It's well taken care of, but it is just too expensive. And they're not willing to work with us as far as money wise. I was able to see individual private rooms and double rooms. The whole place was wonderful."

"My Dad has moved into Gardens Care Senior Living - Majestic View. I liked it because it's a residential home with only 11 residents. There are two caregivers and the caregiver who oversees everything has been there for 16 years. It's a family environment. My dad has a bedroom and a full bath. I love their house manager and primary caretaker, and I like most of the staff. There's one person that's okay. They have meals and snacks, and activities. Everything is included. They have really good food, compared to most of the places. For activities, they do cross and have discussions. They also do devotions and Bible study, and they go for a walk."

"The thing that I liked best about Arbor View Senior Living was the buildings sit on a large park-like area. They have 13 acres, and more or less the facilities are in the center of that. So when you look out of any window, what you're looking out at are grass and trees for the most part. It has a nice feeling of spaciousness. And if somebody lived there and was able to get out and walk around, it would be a pleasant place to go for a walk. They had a theater area. They had a fairly spacious, well-kept, and clean dining area. The dining area opened up to a patio. Just beyond the patio-type area was kind of an outdoor area, so they had facilities for barbecues and outdoor parties in a way. Everything seemed comfortable and clean. It looked as if they had done some recent painting. I didn't see anything that looked like it was rundown or unkempt. "

"I toured Brookdale Parkplace. They were very helpful and very informative. They showed me all of the amenities of the place. I thought it was a little bit expensive with the service fees. The staff was very nice and cordial. She answered all my questions. The facilities were very clean. The structure was very good. It's very livable. I saw the TV room and the exercise room, and both looked fine. When I stepped in it was warm and cozy. It was not very busy. I didn't see a whole lot of people at the time I was there, but I know that they have happy hour going at 5:00, and that they seem to be pretty happy."

"It seemed that the rooms at San Marino Community were real nice. The place is real clean. They were updating the units as they went along if they needed new tile or new carpet. It was kept up real nice and looked well-maintained. The 1-bedroom unit was in good shape and it seemed to be roomy enough. They had all the usual safety features, the pull cord, and plenty of room in the bathroom. They had card night for people to play cards. They had a little movie theater. They had movie night, plus the bus. They had little trips here and there. The staff seemed very friendly. A couple of them said hi as we went by. The only drawback for us would have been that they do not handle Medicaid patients, so if they got Medicaid, they would have to move. "

"I toured Brookdale Arvada. It felt very homey. When you walked in there were people dressed and ready to go. They had a little outing, and they were all anxious and happy to go. It was a small place, so it didn't seem overwhelming for older people who find it hard to get around; it's all on one floor. The hallways were wide. The dining room was very pretty, open, and airy. The rooms were nice. It's an older building, but things were updated. The apartments were clean and neat. Some have carpet, some don't. They have a nice courtyard. They have a really good schedule of activities, including daily exercise classes. They go to places like restaurants, zoos, just all kinds of things that people can do, and I like that, rather than these people having to just sit in the room and vegetate all day. Gina was the girl who gave us the tour. She's a very nice, efficient, young, white lady. She answered our questions. The location was within 15-20 minutes of my brother, so it was conveniently located, and that's why we chose it. Also, it was a little cheaper than some of the other communities."

"The person that gave us the tour of Sunrise of Pinehurst was very personable and very professional. We enjoyed meeting with her. The main downside was that the 2-bedroom apartment was really just 2 rooms, so you either had a living room and 1 bedroom or you had 2 bedrooms and a tiny cooking area. It had a homey atmosphere because the personal living area is smaller. The people are encouraged to come out and sit in the couches and the lounges that are throughout the facility and interact, but my parents prefer to have their own comfortable space as opposed to being out in the general population. They invited us to meet with their activities director. She was a very vivacious high energy person. They do off-site activities, go to the butterfly pavilion or go to different amenities in Denver and they also have shopping buses certain days of the week. They've got the jigsaw puzzle setup, card game times, etc. They have quite a few activities for their residents. They did not have as varied of a menu."
