"Sunny Side living under the direction of Karen has been an incredible blessing to my family. Karen is a very loving and caring person and her concern for the well being of her residents is clearly seen in how well she and all of her family and staff take care of the residents. It is very obvious to see that the staff are inspired by Karen’s leadership and they step up to the task very well. Both my father and Mother moved into Sunny Side. My Father passed away after a few months but my mother continued on as a resident for 2 years before passing away. During these 2 years my family was able to see the incredible level of care provided to my parents and Karen took extraordinary steps to accommodate the needs of my mother and other residents as well. As my mom’s condition and needs changed, Karen would work together with family members to discuss ideas for helping my mom and she listened to family as we presented ideas based on our knowledge of our mom. We were all able to work together as a team knowing we all wanted what was best for my mother. As my mother’s condition declined, Karen and the staff adapted to her needs. Karen and staff took special care to bathe my mom even when it wasn’t easy or convenient. Karen was always looking for ways to make my mother’s situation as good as it can be given the added challenges. Karen made extraordinary efforts to keep my mom from being bedridden knowing that she was a very social person and needed to be with the other people in the house. The extra care was challenging for the staff but Karen knew it was important to my mom and she made it work. Karen and Sunny Side staff would make extra efforts to take my mom and another resident out for walks in the neighborhood when conditions allowed knowing that the outing was therapeutic for them. They would frequently take the residents out onto a deck to enjoy sunshine and a beautiful view of the mountains. The residents thoroughly enjoyed it. Sunny Side living blessed my father by taking him and our family through end of life through a home hospice program and they have done the same thing with other residents as well. Karen her family & staff treated the dying residents with respect and dignity. With the passing of both of my parents, Sunny Side blessed my family with love, support and compassion through a difficult time. Sunny Side is always very clean and very well maintained and there is a focus on cleanliness at the house. The rooms are spacious and there is an abundance of natural lighting that adds to a warm and comfortable feeling in the house. Meals are great and there were times when I was envious of the meals my mother had because they were so good. Karen would spend time with my mom in studying the Bible and having special teaching programs on the TV. When conditions allowed for it, Karen would take my mom to a creative writing class because Karen knew my mom really enjoyed the class and the outing. Wednesdays were a special day when several women friends would visit Sunny Side to have an afternoon of playing games and extra effort was made to include the residents in the game time. My family is profoundly grateful for the way Karen and Sunny Side blessed my parents with such great and loving care and we are so thankful that my parents were able to live out their last days in such an amazing home."

"My mother-in-law moved into Hillcrest of Loveland. She liked it because it had a full kitchen and washer and dryer facilities in her own apartment. She didn't have to go down the hall to do laundry. They periodically have card games and movies. Once in a while they will do an outing where they will take the seniors out to watch the leaves change color or out to dinner, but I feel like they don't do enough for people to do things like craft projects or do things to get people more involved than just the card game or bingo. They provide two meals a day as part of the rent, but my mother-in-law is not happy with the quality of the food, so it's been kind of hit and miss. Sometimes they serve a meal that she will eat, and other times they serve a meal that she does not want to eat. I think their menu could use a little improvement. The facility is very clean and kept up well. The staff members have been very friendly. Their price is a little high when you look at the quality of the food and the number of activities that they have for the seniors to engage in."

"Collinwood was a very nice place. The rooms were quite large, especially for my mother who is going to have to share a room. The rooms were partitioned instead of curtained off, so it gave the impression of a little bit more privacy. Their buildings were very nice, very well kept, and very clean. The dining room was exceptional and run like a first class restaurant. They have a great, big community kitchen. You could prepare meals in a very high tech kitchen that had seating for at least 20 people. They have a small dining room if you wanted to be with your family, as well as a really nice library, and a place where they gather to watch TV. Their program was really nice. They have a music night where the residents get their instruments out and play music. They also have other musicians come in from the Fort Collins area. They have a book club, movie night, and the common areas outside are just spectacular. They have a great, big open space area with manicured lawns and concrete walkways so that people in wheelchairs or walkers could very easily negotiate that large, open area. There were multiple options to walk around, nice tree canopies, and open areas. The grass was all very nicely groomed and the grounds were taken care of really well. I was really impressed with their menu. The great thing about their dining room was from 7:00 in the morning until 7:00 at night, the residents could come in and sit down at the table and somebody would come and take their order, so they could pretty much eat on demand. The menu was a lot narrower in the off hours, but there was certainly plenty of variety there. The staff was very good, very kind, very informative, and showed me everything that I needed to."

"We toured Brookdale Fort Collins. Michelle was extremely professional and very informative. The place was nice, clean, and very well laid out. There's quite a bit of room for different activities for the people staying there. We're very favorably impressed with the entire organization and how they were set up. They have kind of a whole menu of different care options that they can provide. We didn't try the food. We looked at the menu though, and the menu seemed to have a lot of choices. They seemed to be addressing what the folks there in the community would probably have. They give them several choices and are more designed for the people there and not just an institutional type menu. However, the rooms seemed to be fairly small for the people staying there. That was the only negative I could think of. "

"Mom is in Brookdale North Loveland. The staff is very caring. They are nice to my mom and she likes them. She likes where she is, she feels very comfortable and safe there. The dining area looks very good, and mom never complained about the food there. Mom's apartment has a bedroom, a private bathroom, a small living room, and a small kitchenette with a refrigerator, but no stove and no microwave. They have several activities to choose from. People would come in with music, and mom would go down for bingo, coloring sessions, and a haircut."

"My sister is still at MorningStar Assisted Living & Memory Care of Fort Collins. She is pretty happy where she is. I will give it a five in all aspects of care for the building, care for her, attention to detail for whatever she needs, and the different activities they have. There is a beauty parlor, and a medical team visits there regularly. People are very experienced, nice, pleasant, and good to work with. They're professional, very personal, and considerate. We had breakfast, lunch, and dinner, and we liked it. They take very good care of the place. They have people there for electronics, plumbing, yard work, and administration. They're very, very good. It's fairly expensive, which is one of our concerns. For activities, they have musicians, they have church service every Sunday, they have a hairdresser, they have an exercise room, and they have movies I think every night."

"Brookdale Mariana Butte was a very nice facility. It was very well put together. They had a lot of nice activities. The director lady who took us on a tour was fun. The apartments we toured were newly remodeled, so they were very nice. They had a refrigerator, a microwave, and a stovetop. The staff was very animated and full of energy and positivity. There was also nothing dirty or off-putting about that place."

"Brookdale Longmont was very nice. The rooms were very small, but very nice, and very clean. The people were extremely caring and compassionate. The dining area looked very nice and very clean as well. I saw some people playing cards. The manager was extremely good in describing and answering questions, was very welcoming, and had a great disposition when talking and covering everything."

"We like the workers at Aladdin Assisted Living Center at Keenesburg. The residents are friendly, and the staff seems to be very attentive. My mother-in-law has only good things to say about the food, and she is doing activities with the other residents like Bingo and word search. They provide three meals a day, plus snacks."

"I went over at Atria Longmont and did a tour there. It's a lovely facility. There were really a lot of things I liked about this place. First of all it's very clean and bright. It felt like you are in a hotel rather than in a facility. They had a very nice dining facility and then they also have food from 6 to 6. They have two entrees every day and they display them. They also have another menu that was more casual that was served all day long and you could choose that if you don't like the two entrees of the day. The dining room felt like you are in a restaurant. It felt very comfortable. They had other things like an ice cream parlor where they did ice cream social things. They also have a chapel. They had a room which was dedicated just for crafts. They have a couple of theaters and a library. And these were all in different rooms and I really like that. It made it feel like the residents had a community. The rooms were big and that was nice. I also looked at their memory care unit and it's open and free. It didn't feel like you were in a hospital. They had space for the residents to go outdoors and sit on the patio. The staff were very attentive and they were all friendly. The assisted living area is manned by a 24-hour staff but the independent living area had their separate entry and it's protected by a lock code. The only thing I noticed about this facility is that they treated the residents like a child, but overall the place is fantastic. It's really a nice facility and I wished we had the money. "

"My sister has moved into Brookdale Brighton Colorado. They all seem very nice. It's a smaller community, so it seems like they get a little more personal attention. They've got a little garden area and a front patio. They have activities, but she doesn't participate in any of them. They keep the facility pretty well. It's a clean facility. Her apartment is small, but it's assisted living, so it's fine. It's a nice place. They have a dining room. It looks like a little breakfast area at the front of the facility. The few times I've been there, I was satisfied."

"We went in to see the assisted living at Inglenook at Brighton, where mom would have her own studio apartment. I really liked it. The lady that was in charge was very, very helpful, very friendly, and well receiving. She gave us the information that we needed. We asked a lot of questions, and she answered all of them for us. She took us on a tour to see the studio apartment like we had asked. She had asked us if we wanted a one-bedroom apartment. I told her I thought that would be kind of big for my mom, and I didn't want her to be confused. I really liked the studio apartment. It's a very nice area. Mom would have an area to put her bed, her dresser, and her TV. She'd have a little cooking area there. We told the lady we don't let mom near the stove because we're afraid that she could burn herself. She said that's not a problem. She says, "We would make sure that she gets all the help that she needs." They explained to us the different rates depending on the assistance that they need. I was really impressed with it. It was very clean. There's a lot of people there. They're very sociable and friendly. I think it would be good for mom because that way, she would be able to interact with people her own age. They have a lot of activities that they do for them. She could play bingo, games, or whatever. I think that would be a positive factor for her. I liked the fact that they had a patio door, so mom could walk out to a courtyard or she could sit right outside her door. It really made me happy. I really liked it. The lady in charge was very sweet, very informative, really friendly, and sociable. She made us feel comfortable, and it was the one thing that we really liked. I liked that the studio apartment was close to where the dining area was. Mom wouldn't have a long way to walk, so she wouldn't get confused. The dining area was very clean and really nice. The setup was real nice. We were shown the laundry room. They said that if mom could not do her own laundry, they would be more than happy to do it for her. The laundry facility was clean. The whole place was very clean. I was really impressed with it."

"It was open and airy. It looks well-maintained and well-taken care of, and was a little bit newer. The staff was friendly. Everything looked fine. I like the overall vibe. The people seemed to be enjoying themselves, and they were able to get outside. It has outside areas. The common areas were good with plenty of open space and nice cafeterias."
