"My grandmother who is 84 years old and suffering from the early stages of dementia is currently a resident at Julia Temple Center in Denver. She has been there for about 9 months and so far I have been very satisfied with the care she has received. The facility is clean, with windows and natural light in the patient rooms. There is also a sun room and an outdoor terrace for visitors and residents to enjoy during nice weather. The staff seems very attentive, every time I have visited I have seen them engaged in some type of stimulating activity with the residents. My grandmother has not had any complaints. She enjoys the day to day activities and is clean and well taken care of. She was underweight before going into the center and has even gained ten pounds since she's moved in. The facility has excellent security, with lots of staff and code locking doors to ensure the safety of the patients which was important to my family because my grandmother sometimes gets confused and tries to walk back to her old home.Family and friends are encouraged to visit at any time. The building is older but they have been doing some extensive renovation in the past few months. All in all I find it is a good, trustworthy facility. "

"I went to Highline Rehabilitation and Care Community. It was nice. I got there about lunchtime. They were just cleaning up from lunch. So, the staff took me on a tour of where different things are, and they have a nice outside area. I looked at cash paying for that, and it's $348 a day. They were clean. I had to go through a pretty thorough check-in, they took my temperature and I had to answer the questions about COVID, things like that. And everybody seemed to be busy not standing around in the hallways talking. So, that showed me that the people there take their job seriously."

"My husband was a patient here. The staff was always very friendly and the nursing personnel were very caring. The facility was very clean and my husband was well taken care of. "

"I chose Holly Heights because it had a 5-star rating at the time and that meant a lot to me. I felt that the admissions person really bent herself backward to help me out and got me admitted there because I was Medicaid pending. There were a lot of open hearts in that facility and I felt that, that was one of the reasons that I recovered as well as I have so far. I was there because I needed to recover from my surgery and I was undergoing cancer treatment. I have different dietary restrictions and I cannot take processed food. They gave me access to the kitchen so I can prepare my own meals and that was a huge benefit. I also require a clean environment and I could not tolerate the current cleaning supplies they're using which is toxic and dangerous. I found a line of nontoxic, unscented cleaning supplies for them that does the job better than anything they've ever used anyway and was safer for the cleaning crew and the residents. That's what they're currently using now. The director, Janet did a good job of trying to make changes that were better for everybody. I think she did a lot to make things happen for everybody there. They went green basically. "

"My husband went to Englewood Post Acute and Rehabilitation. They were very nice. They had more staff. They took care of him. He had a bed sore, which was the first thing they found, and they treated that. They were aware of the catheter. I talked to the doctor there and told them I felt that he needed to be looked at and see why he should wear a catheter every day. It's not the best thing he would have to do, and after two weeks, he still had it, but that was my only complaint. Otherwise, they were very nice people. They treated me well, and they treated him well. He liked nurses. He had a good CNA. But when they took him to the hospital, why did they not know that he had pneumonia or a blocked bowel? He had been there for two weeks. Why didn't they check? Should they have known he had pneumonia? I'm not very medical, but those are questions that I questioned. They had a lot of help. They had activities. They were having a carnival last Friday for the patients. They seemed to care about the patients. There were a lot of flowers. It was very homey, and they only had 80 patients, I think. They had a staff to cover those, too. They were always right there. My husband didn't take advantage of the activities and we weren't there long enough, so he wouldn't have anyway, but everything was available. The money was the same as far as what they charged, but they were easier to work with. The way they have the facilities arranged was good. "

"The people at Brookshire House Rehabilitation & Care Community seemed to be friendly. They're fully staffed. Mary was very helpful, accommodating, friendly, and empathetic. The building looked like it was old. It has been around for a while, but it's clean and bright."

"My 96yr old Mom just passed but was at Amberwood for about 1.5yrs after a health scare and hospitalization. I live in another state. Mom's first language is not English, so trusted care was of utmost importance to me. I found the Amberwood folks very caring. Their hearts are in the right place & I think they take extra care to bring on the right staff. Makes a huge difference for a nursing home. You may not find this elsewhere. But staffing has been challenging since covid, so we've def seen good/bad staff, many are agency nurses. Hopefully things will stabilize now. There is an important heartbeat in key staff including Akiva who heads the org, and folks like Christelle/Sophia doing activities (these guys are the awesome 'love' in the place), had good experience with their PT folks and finance & admin try hard to be flexible and 'real' too. Medically, we had a pretty good experience, but again staffing can be a challenge. Overall, given all the big issues in nursing homes, I think you should definitely check out Amberwood. They have heart & caring, do some things extremely well, are solid in the range of services they offer, and try to do the right thing. You could definitely do worse. The food seemed decent, hot & on time & even have a cool Korean/Asian food option due to the many Korean residents. Cleanliness seems good too. But Amberwood's strength is in some of their exceptional staff, for sure. They are 'human' at Amberwood! I'd definitely give them a call."

"Rowan is unlike most nursing homes I have toured. There is a friendly, group atmosphere that the care givers bring. There are murals on the walls, a garden, and a calming room. "

"I visited Life Care of Littleton. The reason I didn't want to go there is because they had 80 beds and four nurses, and I didn't think I would get the attention I needed. The staff was marvelous and very professional. They had nice rooms, but I would not have had a private room. I would have another person with me in the room. I think they're very professional, just a little understaffed. "

"The first thing one notices about Shalom Park is that it is very clean. It has an airy feel to it with lots of interesting art in the halls. The staff is very caring, and are quite cheerful and optimistic. They seem to genuinely care for the residents, treating them with the respect and dignity that they deserve. They are there to help when the resident needs them, and are very much in the background when things are going smoothly. Activities are offered on an almost-daily basis. Dining out at various restaurants for lunch is an option offered several times a week. The resident is never pressured to take part in these outings, but they are gently encouraged to, if their health allows. Other outings include visits to museums, shopping malls and concerts. All of this serves to keep the residents' minds engaged in the process of living. The evening meal is provided for the residents, and is by most accounts, quite good. The deserts that are served are delicious. An LPN is on the premises 24/7, and can assist in administering medication. The LPN also provides a front-line defense against medical emergencies. While no one likes to leave their home, having a caring, clean, compassionate place to go, where one is safe and gently and discreetly looked after is a luxury that should be know by many more people in need of such care. After two month's experience with Shalom Park, I would whole-heartedly recommend it to those in need of such care. "

"After looking at many (14) Independent Living communities in the Denver area, my mom landed at Brookdale Mountain View. On our visit, we were greeted with friendly smiles and happy residents. We found a spacious studio and it's a great location into Cherry Creek and the airport. In addition to a happy and pleasant environment she wanted covered parking, which she now has, and she also loves having a washer/dryer in her unit. My mom is a very active working senior and has already made new friends. "
