"I toured the independent living community of Quincy Place in Denver. The place is very nice and warm. It makes you feel like you are not in an institutional home. It gives more of a homey feeling where people are warm and friendly. They all gave me a big smile, and one lady even said she loved the place. The place is very clean, and I didn't see a lot of wheelchairs or medicine tables, or delivery tables unattended in the hallway. That gave me a feeling that people care and don't just leave things. It gave me a warm feeling, and that's very important to me. I wish I had the chance to sit down at a lunch table and talk to the residents and taste their food. I really liked the place. The dining room was almost at the entrance hallway. When you go in, it's like home. On the left side, there were a lot of tables where many of the residents were sitting because it was lunchtime. The interesting thing is, I didn't smell any food cooking, and I mentioned that to the person with me, and she said it's because they usually cook outside so they can control the heat and so forth, which is good."
