"I really liked Harvard Square Retirement. The staff looked good. The rooms were very nice and roomy. The restaurant was very nice and clean. I like the services they offer. "

"I toured Quincy Place, and I thought it was nice. The people seemed friendly, and it seemed like a location where you will be able to reach your person and get to them easily. You want the place to be centrally located, but you don’t want it to be so centrally located that it is hard to get to. Like there was one that was really difficult to navigate, which makes it hard when you are driving and trying to visit your person in your limited amount of time. But I didn’t find that with Quincy Place because it was conveniently located. "

"I liked the Lakewood Reserve. It was very nice. The only reason that I didn't choose them is because they are farther away from me. There was a lot of residents that were out visiting, playing cards, sitting in the cafeteria, and having a snack with family members. We talked to a couple of family members and the residents and they were all very happy. I really, really liked it. The staff during the tour was very, very good, very knowledgeable, and answered all my questions. They offered a gym, a salon, a private dining room, and a courtyard. It's in a neighborhood and the view is kind of important for my mom. She likes to look outside, and there wasn't much of a view, but it's a very nice facility. I would definitely recommend them."

"We liked it very much and that's probably where we'll wind up when the time comes. The people were very, very friendly. They were willing to work with you, they have excellent customer service, and they seem to care. We tried the food there and it was excellent. The whole place was very clean, and very nice, and had access to everything. They were wheelchair-accessible and ADA-compliant. Nothing is ever perfect, so we're not giving them the highest rating just yet."

"It was the first one we visited, so it's kind of hard to remember how we would compare it. I would give it a very high rating in every way. We did have a meal there, so I would say a high rating for a meal. There were a big luncheon and people who lived there and became the guides around the building; that was very friendly and very welcoming. It wasn't as staff as we saw in the other two places. The guy lived there and likes it. They had a pool, and they had a schedule of activities. It was a nice experience. It's the newest of these places, so it ought to look good."

"Gardens Care Senior Living-Homestead was a very nice facility. What I liked about it was that it was small. It seemed like a clean facility. Everything that we saw looked very good, in good shape and clean. The guy that gave us the tour was very nice. He answered all of our questions. We were pleased with the facility and the tour. I think they have studio and one-bedroom apartments. They quoted us a price that would include the room and three meals a day. They have one-bedroom cottages and two-bedroom cottages. They showed us one of the two-bedroom cottages, and those were very nice."

"The Meridian-Lakewood was good except for the price. The place was nice, and the people were really friendly. The maintenance guy introduced himself. It was just really a good feeling. The staff was great. It was very clean. They took me to the dining room, and it was clean. I don’t think it was time for a meal, and so it was empty, but it was definitely spacious. "

"The rooms feel like they are home to me. The staff are very friendly and helpful with great personalities. I have lived here for seven years and I still think it is the best place to live. The location is perfect."

"I visited Parkside Village Retirement Resort. I like the apartment; I saw the 2-bedroom model. I like the dining facility; I did have lunch there and it was good. I liked the fact that you don't have a buy-in, it's just a monthly rental. It was essentially a month-to-month; you sign the lease, but you could get out of it if you gave them 30 days' notice. So, it wasn't a year's lease or anything like that, but it was more expensive. A similar apartment which cost me $3500 in another facility, would cost me $5200 at the Parkside. The staff was very organized in her presentation. We walked around the facility, and she was very pleasant. She's followed up on a couple of occasions, and was calling me; I mean, she's a sales representative, so it behooves her to follow up. I was pleasantly impressed. I've never been to one that was not clean, but it was certainly clean. It gave the impression of being a pleasant place. It had a kind of open central area and was well lit. But the problem with it is, the population size is about 130 or 140. They do have activities and they had a calendar which of course I looked at; that's all online, too. But it doesn't offer what the other offers. For what I had for lunch, it's good."

"My sister has moved into Brookdale Meridian Westland. The staff has been excellent. It's a beautiful place and it's very comfortable. They have wonderful amenities. They've got excellent activities and things going on all the time. I've checked the menu. It looks excellent and a lot of the residents said it's excellent. They had a discount of 30% off and so the value because of the discount is a five. Otherwise, it is comparable to other facilities' costs."

"V-Esprit was a great community. They showed me the one- and two-bedroom apartmetns, and cottage homes, and all of them were nice and comparable to other places. They had a ton of stuff, transportation, and a little golf cart so they can move you around on the grounds if they need to. They also had an activities center in the building, a swimming pool, library, and a movie theater. It goes on and on like a little city. The staff member, Peter, and the receptionist were great. On the receptionist's desk, they had a list of people who were visiting that day. The first thing I saw was "Hello Marietta" on a big sign, which was kind of cute. They also had a tenant who just moved in greeting people as you came in and telling you about her experience there. That was different from the other places. They had a cafeteria or restaurant on site."

"We looked at the one-bedroom independent living apartments in San Marino Retirement for my brother. They were bigger than the studios and very nice. The whole place was very nice. They had a place for activities, and they go to museums and on field trips. They had different levels of care, like assisted living and skilled nursing, aside from independent living. My brother could furnish his own apartment, and the three meals were included in the price, which was definitely reasonable. My husband and I liked their patio homes, and we could have our dog there. It's a large place with a variety of things. The staff was very friendly, helpful with the residents, and seemed very happy. They offered us lunch, and the food looked very good. "

"I have chosen them for my husband. I like that it's more of a home-type setup. The staff was very helpful and answered all my questions. They made me feel at ease. Activities were going on and it was a more free-moving situation. We saw one-bedroom apartments and they were good. They provided privacy to the individuals, which gives them a level of dignity. We went to the dining room and then there was a TV room and we got to see the outside area. There's a deck with a grill and table and chairs and then there's a garden area and a very large backyard. I was quite impressed with that. I liked it. The facility was quite clean. We saw the memory care and I liked that it was very secure. You couldn't go in and out, and the doors were locked down. Everything worked out as far as my needs, my husband's needs, and location."

"Everybody is real friendly at Meridian Arvada. I've had dinner there a couple of times, and it's been really nice. The apartment itself is very organized and handicap-accessible, and equipped. The dining room is set up with tables, and my sister can put her electric wheelchair in there and have dinner. They play cards, and they have all kinds of games she can play. They have movie nights, crafts and groups. "
