"We toured Harvard Square Retirement and Senior Living. I liked a lot of things about that community. They had long-term employees. It was very clean. It was very nice. They have activities. They have a group that would go and welcome new residents, so they weren't just sitting in their apartments. They wanted people out and engaged, and so I like that. The employees seemed very nice. All the ones we met had been there for at least five years. It was a beautiful setting. They had a library, and they had a walking path, it was very nice. We walked into the dining room, and it looked very nice. And they had different seating configurations. It looked like a restaurant. The building looked very clean. Of the places I looked at, this by far was the best. Residents seemed to be engaged."

"I toured Quincy Place. It was nice, clean, and open. The people were friendly. Everyone looked well cared for and like they were enjoying themselves. I looked at three different apartments. The studio was very small, but they all had a small kitchenette, a refrigerator, a sink, and a couple of cupboards. They were doing some renovations, too. The staff who toured me was very nice. She listened to what my needs were. It looked like they could accommodate everything I needed."

"Lakewood Reserve was a very nice facility. It was newly remodeled. I felt like it was too far from where I wanted my mom to be. I thought that the person who gave me the tour was great. She was knowledgeable. I liked that every day they would have, like a sample plate for every meal that they would make so that the residents could look at it and go, oh, yeah, I want the egg and the sausage, or I want the egg in the sausage in the toast. And they made like three different plates up. So you had three different variations of what that could look like. I liked the person who was taking the tour, although she was new, she knew people's names. She was like hey, Marcia. We were walking through and she was like oh, hey, Peggy, do you mind if we peek our head into your room? And we were able to look into what a furnished apartment looked like. And the person was affable to allow us to look into her place. They seemed to have a lot of activities. They had, like, this kind of, heightened service to serving people who were in the military and had a military wall. And the person who was in the front who welcomed us, she seemed to know everybody who was going in and out, and it seemed very welcoming and very comfortable. It had recently been renovated so a lot of the spaces were newly painted and newly decorated. And she's been great with follow-up and checking in to see how we were doing. They also looked to see if their facility could accept my mom's medication. And they also were willing to come and do an evaluation on my mom to see whether or not the facility would make sense for her."

"My apartment is a great value for the price of the rent. There is a full kitchen that I use when I miss a meal and cook for guests. The opportunities for socialization are numerous. Eating meals and attending activities with the wonderful friends I've made here are the best part of my experiences since moving here over a year ago. We are blessed with a wonderful staff that goes beyond what is expected, caring for us with kindness and creating an atmosphere that consistently brings smiles and laughter. You can't put a price on this."

"I rented a one bedroom apartment and just loved it. The rooms were spacious and it was a terrific layout. Housekeeping was very accommodating to my sleep schedule (I’m a night owl, so tend to sleep late), and they did a wonderful job every two weeks. The food varied quite a bit and the chef was very open to suggestions. I didn’t take advantage of all the social activities, but that was mostly because I tended to sleep in most days. All of the residents I met were friendly and willing to share their life experiences. It was great having a parking garage, an indoor pool, and on-site physical therapy. The staff? Oh my! You couldn’t ask for nicer people. I just loved St. Andrews and enthusiastically recommend it!"

"We chose Gardens Care Senior Living - Homestead for my mom. It is very homey, very comfortable, and cozy. The staff is extremely friendly, as well as the residents. Her room is very bright and cheerful, and she has a beautiful view of the trees outside. The dining area is very nice and very clean. They do a lot of crafts, tours on Saturdays, trick or treat, and they will have entertainment this afternoon."

"Brookdale Meridian Lakewood was very well maintained. The apartments were fully equipped. The view outside, the trees, and the walking paths were something we liked. The staff was very professional and very well-organized with lots of good information. They had a beauty salon, outdoor walking paths, and a fitness area. Their upkeep was good."

"Lakewood Estates was a real nice place to live. It has nice apartments and looked like they had a lot of things for people to do there and that sort of thing. The person that gave the tour was very helpful."

"We toured Parkside Village Retirement Resort. It's very clean, and very nice on the inside. They were redoing the apartments while we were there. We went and looked, and they put in new rugs, paintings, and kitchens if necessary. The cleanliness, the upkeep, and the common areas were very good. The staff we talked to was very nice. Everybody said, "Hi", and the residents we ran into were very nice."

"I am a resident of Brookdale Meridian Westland. I didn't have a big problem. I didn't have a problem with the food, getting places I needed to, and when I asked people to do things, they would help me. The people are all nice and friendly. On some days, there were things I didn't like, but they did a good job. They have a lot of extra things, like we have a barbecue for every holiday. Nothing happened that wasn't dealt with. The staff is nice. Everybody here is nice. Now and then, they get short-staffed, but that happens because people quit. Some things didn't get done as often as they should, and it didn't cause me any problems. It didn't make me sick or anything, but I thought it could have been better. Part of it is being short-staffed, and part of it is that there are people who didn't do their jobs all the time. They have internal activities every day. There's a bridge game two days a week, and they play dominoes two days a week. Those were nice, and pretty much the same people did them all the time. They went out to eat a few times. I went once. I didn't go again because it took so long. It was a little disorganized. They upgraded all the apartments except mine. I don't know why. It was the only one-bedroom apartment on the first floor, so everybody else got new carpet, new drapes, new lights, and new paint. I moved in, and I didn't have any lights in my room. They gave me this one because I told them I didn't want to pay more than I had to. So, they discounted this one. Then, when I moved in, about a week later, I couldn't turn on any of the lights in this apartment. There were no lights to turn on. So, I asked, "Why don't I have any lights?" They said, We took your lights and gave them to the rooms that were being remodeled. So, you're going to have to provide your own. I was not happy with that. So, I did provide my lights, and I may take them with me. I don't think they treat everybody like that, but that's what I thought."

"I was very impressed with V-Esprit and my friend paid a deposit to be on a waiting list for a unit. The person who did the tour for us was actually one of the owners of the property. And he was tremendous, he spent a lot of time with us, he was knowledgeable and did a good job in presenting a lot of the options. It was a very impressive place being an independent living community, with all its options available. They don't have a regular food service but they do have a bistro that you can go in and get meals on a pay basis. It wasn't open at the time we went there but our tour guide unlocked it and showed us the facility, then explained the system and explained the menu and prices. It was a beautiful community with incredible and beautiful views of the mountains. It has free access to an extensive health club, a swimming pool, more extensive grounds and walking paths within the community. These are more suitable for a younger crowd. They also have a back deck and more areas for sitting or lounge areas."

"San Marino Retirement is a very friendly open atmosphere. Most of the residents are very welcoming, and most sit together at lunch and things like that. They're wonderful. They're very caring people. The food is wonderful, too. Our chef came from the Brown Palace. I love the structure of the building. I've got a balcony and great views. There's a fantastic garden outback. Regarding activities, we have a luau this summer, Grandparents Day, happy hour every Friday, and tailgate parties for every home game. There are different sizes of rooms. I have a one-bedroom, and the layout is very comfortable and perfect. And mine is carpeted except for the kitchen."

"I have chosen them for my husband. I like that it's more of a home-type setup. The staff was very helpful and answered all my questions. They made me feel at ease. Activities were going on and it was a more free-moving situation. We saw one-bedroom apartments and they were good. They provided privacy to the individuals, which gives them a level of dignity. We went to the dining room and then there was a TV room and we got to see the outside area. There's a deck with a grill and table and chairs and then there's a garden area and a very large backyard. I was quite impressed with that. I liked it. The facility was quite clean. We saw the memory care and I liked that it was very secure. You couldn't go in and out, and the doors were locked down. Everything worked out as far as my needs, my husband's needs, and location."

"Brookdale Meridian Arvada was very nice. They said that they're going to get washers and dryers next year in the units, and that really makes me happy. I didn't make a deposit; they didn't tell me I could, but my name is on the waiting list. The facility was very upgraded. The manager was very, very nice, and she dressed nicely, too. Also, I had another male manager, and he was very polite and everything. So, I really liked that place. The people in the hall just walked up to this lady and hugged her. Everyone of them loved her. I tasted their food, and it was very good. It was a special occasion, and it was a buffet. It was a Salisbury Steak, and it was very, very good."
