Nursing Home Communities in Rancho Mirage, CA

"This facility is very clean. The staff does the best they can. Most are very friendly and helpful. This is a thankless job. If you want good care you have to be vigilant in your observations, ask staff about it and visit frequently. Most people don’t visit their relatives regularly. The food could stand to be improved significantly. Less processed food ( no one needs tater tots) would be a plus. Allow staff to have one meal daily as part of their compensation package and watch the improvements begin. How difficult is meatloaf, mashed potatoes, and a frozen vegetable medly? It’s cheaper to cook from scratch so find some cooks that can make real food. Mealtime is the only thing the residents look forward to. I know because I took care of my parents for 6 years. Why feed them crap? "

"My brother is at Desert Springs Healthcare and Wellness Center primarily for wound care. For me, the room is a bit tiny. It could be a bit bigger and more spacious for the patients; it is very tiny. There are two people in a room, sometimes three. But the care is great. He loves the care. He said the wound care is superb there. I like it and he seems to be very happy with it. They give him a list of activities, but right now he is just going to the church services that are offered. The care and the nursing staff seem to be really nice, sweet people. They need to modernize the facility a little bit. "

"I had to be there for 6 weeks of antibiotics, I have never had to be away from home for that long. The staff were kind and caring. My meals were good, and place was clean, if I needed medical care, I would choose them in a heartbeat. "

"its alright they are pretty nice but some seem on the edge its a quiet place thats calming. beautiful area. and they will help if you have any problems they jump right to the issue to help resolve it. "

"In my experience i attended Copper Mountai n College in Joshua Tree California i was in the facility for training purposes to become a Certified Nursing assistant. On my first day on the floor i could not believe how many of the employees ignored the call lights when they went off. On one occasion one of the employees actully said "oh dont answer them right away they are just wanting to complain or something and its never very important" after she said this i thought i might cry cause i was thinking would i want my family member to pay all this money in a facility just to be treated this way? In the short months i was there i realized that not all employees were like that generally most were caring and sweet people who cared for the residents just as much as i did. As for the amenities at the facility i was surprised that they never ran out of anything everything was always clean and nicly stocked, the food was excellent and the activities they provide there sure do keep the residents in a pretty good mood i was proud to train there and miss it terribly and often wish i could go back and if i actually did have the time i would go backfrom time to time. My personal overall experience was fun and uplifting and i was very glad to be a part of that facility if only for a short time. "
