My mom has been in Brightview Mays Chapel Ridge. It was not the cheapest, but every time I went there the residents seemed pretty engaged. They had a lot of activities going on, and the people looked happier. It just seemed like the best environment for my mother. My mom has a certain amount of dementia. Her short-term memory is not good, but she can still function. She still walks, she still showers, and she does all that stuff. She's not in memory care, but we wanted to have memory care because that could be the path she's heading towards at some point. She's in assisted living. For the most part, I like the staff. They're always friendly and helpful. I have a few complaints, but overall, my mom's happy, and that's the most important thing. They say they tried to get her involved doing activities, but I don't know how much they push it. I keep on telling them to try to get my mom out doing things and being more active, so I don't know how much they push. Overall, I'm happy. I'm complaining, but overall, I'm happy. They are supposed to do laundry on Wednesdays and Sundays, and that doesn't always get done, so I've had to complain about that a few times. But she loves the food, and she loves the staff. For the most part, it's been a good experience. The staff is good. The food is great. They have like a happy hour every day. The place is clean. The staff is friendly. The staff gets along with my mom. My mom likes the staff. She's happy. They have bingo, they play some card games that she likes. There's some big screen TV downstairs and they show some things on England that she likes to go to every week. She doesn't drink, but they have a happy hour in the pub every day with hors d'oeuvres, and she likes to go down there and socialize. She really likes that. That's probably the main one.

We went to Brightview Mays Chapel Ridge. We liked the opportunity that if we needed it, there would be a nurse available. If one of us needed to have assisted living, we could easily stay in the apartment we're in and still get it. The whole place and the atmosphere had energy. We looked primarily at the two bedrooms because it's my sister and I. It's a little smaller than the apartment that we currently have, but it's certainly adequate. It's attractive. They have a washer and dryer in the unit and walk-in closet. They include everything, but wifi and Internet. For us, it's very tight financially, but we're working with them on that. Three meals a day are available, but one is included in the base rent. I didn't have any food, but the menu looked good. They were very friendly, willing to give information, and so were the people that live there. The facility was spotless, attractive, and bright. They had an exercise room. They had lectures, a movie theater, and community activities (some with the community coming in and some of them going out).

Brightview Mays Chapel Ridge had different buildings for different things. You can have your apartment furnished or bring in your own things. They had a doctor on site and a shuttle that takes you to the library and the shopping malls. The staff seemed to be very interested in "you." The location was in a good neighborhood; it's not like you're out by yourself somewhere.

Brightview Mays Chapel Ridge was good. It seemed to be everything it said it was. I would say the staff is very good. In assisted living, the rooms are adequate; in independent-living, they're good. It's convenient, and the grounds are very well kept. The price is above reasonable but not too expensive.

My parents went ahead and moved into Brightview Mays Chapel Ridge. It's in the neighborhood that they lived in, and so that's partly why they chose it. The amenities are very good. The living environment is very nice. My parents seem to enjoy it. It's reasonable in terms of cost. It's not inexpensive, but it's reasonable. They like the food. They like the convenience. The apartment they have in there is a 1-bedroom apartment, very nice. It had new carpet when they moved in, repainted, cleaned. So far, the services have been good. The staff is polite and helpful. They seem really good, and my parents have not complained or had any problems with any of the staff.

My brother moved to Brightview Mays Chapel last December. It was close to where I live, and the best price for that type of facility. It’s independent, so he comes and goes as he pleases, but he has to check in in the morning by 10:30 or somebody checks on him. They have different activities, but he can choose to join or not. There are card playing groups, bingo groups, and they do movies occasionally. They had a New Year’s party. He has a studio apartment with a small living space. It has a small bedroom, but he does have a refrigerator, washer and dryer, a stove and a bathroom. They do the laundry for the linen and towels. The apartment is always clean and he loves the food there. The residents interact with you.

Mays Chapel Village is clean and the staff and residents seem to be very friendly. The only reason I didn't select it is because of accommodations. It just wasn't large enough for my mother and sister and it felt like living in a box. I wanted a place where mom could take some of her furniture. She doesn't like it at all. I would've selected it if it had more spacious rooms for two people.

The buildings and accommodations are spacious. We have experience with both independent and assisted living. The transition was nice for my grandmother. The assisted living apartment is much smaller and easier to maintain. Authorized employees have access to the rooms so they may check on the well being of the residents. This is helpful because once my grandmother fell and an employee was there to help her immediately. The facilities have a nice dining hall and bar area. There are many daily activities for the residents, including games, movies, live music, and other entertainment.
