I visited this facility

The tour I had at Orlando Lutheran Towers was good and informative. They allowed us to see and understand the paperwork and what it would cost for both skilled nursing and in assisted living (because that's what we're looking for) Jim, the guy who did it, was good. I think he was the marketing director for assisted living, but he was able to help us see all aspects. We liked that the apartments had little kitchenettes because when we come to visit, we like to cook Dad a meal. He would like to have his breakfast and he could have a refrigerator in there. They were very open. They said when somebody new comes in, they paint it, they set it up, redo the flooring, or whatever needs to be done to make it the way the incoming person/persons want it. So, they seemed a lot more accommodating. The bathrooms were very updated to the current standards. For somebody who is less mobile, the showers had big openings and they were walk-ins. They were a little wider and for someone in a walker or a scooter, they had the level of the vanity where if they were seated, they could still reach everything. The dining room in the assisted living was set up for people in wheelchairs and scooters, too. We thought that the community was much more community oriented. People knew each other and the staff knew the people. The big thing we noticed, commented, and asked about was that the staff seemed like they had been there for a long time, and it was true. The sales and marketing director said so and he told us how long he'd been there and how long many of the people were there. So, it seemed that they had very little turnover. The only thing that was less appealing to my father and to us was that the skilled nursing and assisted living were separate buildings, so he would have to travel over to a different building to see my mother. The buildings themselves were quite nice though.

Orlando Lutheran Towers were very welcoming and has all the different levels that we've been looking for. It would be wonderful to be able to be there. They're very friendly and the place was very, very lovely and very nice. We loved the location. It's downtown Orlando, but it's on a very quiet street. There are several interesting shops around, so you could walk to a supermarket nearby or to a library. The location for us was one of the advantages. They gave us a calendar of their activities for June, and they have exercise classes, a person who is trained for the exercises if someone were to have Parkinson's disease, arts, group meetings, concerts, and many different things that you would expect. They also have a book club, religious services of different types, and transportation to things out in the community. So, that's good, and they have an undercover parking garage available and a wonderful security. The staff we met were very friendly, very knowledgeable about what was available there, and very concerned. They had a wide variety of different people with different interests and I think they were very helpful and communicated very well what it had to offer.

I am/was a resident of this facility

There are so many reasons why I love life at Orlando Lutheran towers‼️ I’ve lived here 4 years in a 15th floor studio apartment where I have a beautiful view of Lake Eola and like the balcony and open area to gather with friends. The residents are friendly, interesting and full of life. The staff are professional, helpful and positive. The activities are varied and accommodate all personalities(cards, games, book club, bible study, bocce ball, Ping pong, movies, exercise classes, outside entertainment ) The under cover parking and facility are secure. Our chapel is very special to all of us. And I love the downtown location where I can walk everywhere‼️😎

I am a friend or relative of a current/past resident

My mom has been in Orlando Lutheran Towers. When she moved in there, it was like a new lease on life for her because at that time she was very active. She's not as active right now, but she has enjoyed living there, and she has friends. To me, it was like a college dorm when she moved in there because they all had a good time. The thing of it is, is that they've all aged together. They're pretty decent friends, and they have get-togethers on their floor. She's very happy there, and that's what counts. The staff members are very friendly. They are very helpful, and they love Mom. Food is satisfactory. It's not gourmet, but it's good. They enjoy it, and they are very happy with it. They have been remodeling the place for the last couple of years, so it's beautiful, modern, and clean. It looks very classy. They have something to do all the time. They have movies. They don't go out right now because of the COVID. They have dance opens. They don't have COVID, but COVID is out there, so they're very cognizant of that fact. The residents have just started to go out before this new variant came, and they are very careful about who comes and goes. They have bingo, and they have happy hour. Every floor has a happy hour like once a month. They do ice cream socials. They have a newsletter that comes out every week and it tells them what's available.

My mother was 91 when we convince her to sell her home (her only asset) and move to the Lutheran Towers in Orlando, Florida. She paid a set fee upon being accepted as a resident who was part of their independent living arrangement and then a monthly fee. There were more than enough group and individual activities and entertainment was brought in for the residents. When she became too frail to continue in independent living, she was transferred to assisted living. When her savings ran out, she was charged just a portion of her Social Security payments, a very small fee. When she became ill, she received care in their medical unit and finally hospice care in her assisted living apartment until she died at 98. The care she received was exemplary. We called and visited often and she never had anything negative to say except she didn't always like the menu selections, but she was a picky eater. I realize that there are nursing homes that don't begin to approach the facility, organization, and level of care that the Lutheran Towers afforded my mother.

Orlando Lutheran was great, we liked it and liked the rooms. My father liked the way that you can go to assisted living and nursing care all in one place. The food was pretty good, the wait staff could use a little more sympathy. But the food was okay, they also had a special that day. There's a cafe where everybody can come. The staff that we met was very nice.

Orlando Lutheran Towers is the absolute worst nursing home facility that I know. The management at “The Commons” are terrible. After numerous complaints that went unattended regarding my mother’s declining health, including several infections that she contracted from the facility, the lack of attentive care from the doctors, nurses, and don’t even talk about the CNA’s just plain rude, neglectful, and just plain lazy, we’ve decided to remove our loved one from that dreadful, foul smelling, terrible place. The CNA’s and nurses pretty much allow dementia patients to tend to themselves with little to no aid. They also allow patients to go with their diapers unchanged for hours unattended. In addition, they don’t really aid them in eating, and did I mention they’re rude. After complaining to Amy the head manager over all the floors, Kathy “The Commons” manager, and Michelle, the human resource manager, without any assistance or improvements regarding our family’s concerns, we’ve decided to remove her from this awful facility. They lie and act as if they care about your concerns and do absolutely nothing about it to address the issues. They act as if they’re in cahoots with each other opposed to to addressing your concerns. It’s just terrible regarding the lack of care at this place. I would advise anyone that actually care for their loved one to “STAY AWAY,” the conditions there along with the lack of care are just plain horrible.

We visited Orlando Lutheran Towers and had lunch. I have friends there, and it's very close to my church. The people there seem to want to help you get what you want, like an apartment that's right for you. I've selected a one-bedroom, but I haven't decided yet whether I should get their one-bedroom deluxe and a one-bedroom with a den. They said they'll tear down the walls to make it like you want it. The food we had was very good. I like this community. The rooms are not dark. They're very light with big windows. All the common areas also have a lot of light. The staff member seem to be accommodating, nice, friendly, and helpful.

I am/was a resident of this facility

I lived in OLT (Orlando Lutheran Towers) for a year. I was somewhat mislead into thinking that my substantial entrance fee was going to cover my potential nursing home care if ever needed since I was told that I would never be expelled. The concept of "independent" living can have various meanings. It seems that many in this category can hardly walk or have limited mobility or memory issues. At first I considered OLT as being " ALMOST HEAVEN". But after a while, this changed. The residents were very amiable and friendly. However, the dining room was another matter. Toward the end I actually dreaded having to go into it. While the food was OK the servers were anything but. A prolonged wait of up to an hour to be served was quite common. And then the wrong item (s) would come. And the take-home items were very reluctantly given. Only one piece of fruit or one milk. And for the price paid monthly to be there, the food could be more freely given as I noticed being the case in other CCRCs (Continuing Care Retirement Community). Activities seemed fine and one could participate if one desired. The location Downtown was a big drawing card but after a year was played out. OLT is good for certain situations but it is best to evaluate fully before deciding. Perhaps an Elder Care attorney would be good to check into before deciding since the cost of CCRCS is a bit high. A partial refund was given based on the first four years. Two percent per month is deducted from the entrance fee.

Orlando Lutheran showed us a 1 bedroom apartment, and it was clean. A lot of people were sitting around in their wheelchairs. We looked at the dining area, and they had waiters and napkins.

Orlando Lutheran Towers is a pleasant facility. Lots of activities if you choose to partake. Chapel is nice at the top of the Towers. Newly remodeled and easy access to lots of things downtown. Make note, when you sign a contract to live in the facility they have the right to move you as they see fit to the assisted living facility across the street, even if you or your family don't agree. If they can get higher rents for your existing apartment, don't get sick...becuase you may just end up in assisted living. You sign your rights away as an individual and it's up to the leadership to make the ultimate decision when it's time for you to move across the street. Windsor Place is OK....but not what you think you would get when you move to "assisted" living. Remain in the "Fountains" as long as you can and hire assistance to come in and assist you if needed. Much like the Fountains, the wait staff is less than friendly and appear disengaged most of the time. For the price paid to live here, and compared to other facilities of this caliber I've visited, you would think they would train their staff to learn how to smile and treat residents as their guests, and not "old people" who we know can at times be difficult. Overall....nice place...but watch your back and have an advocate or family involved in your care.

I had a friend that is in assisted living at Lutheran Towers. The assisted living apartments were very small, in my opinion. It has a bedroom and a little sitting room, countertop, and a little kitchenette. It was very expensive -- $5,000 for rental. I couldn’t afford that. My friend didn’t like the food; he said it was terrible. He passed about six months ago.

My grandparents moved to the Towers years ago. My grandfather has since passed away, but my grandmother is still there, going strong at age 101. My parents also recently moved there, and both sets of aunt/uncles have plans to move there when the time comes. So the whole family will be there! The staff are kind, helpful, and loving. My grandmother gets a lot of attention (it helps if the family is involved). They have renovated several of the public areas (lobby, café, gazebo, parking lot) and the gazebo is lovely. My grandmother and I enjoy the patio to just sit and talk. The place is clean, well-lit, and organized. I have never seen a dirty bathroom. The staff work hard and are VERY patient. They often seem amused rather than annoyed at some of the ways of the elderly - which can be challenging to a person's patience. Some of the back halls and elevators could use a coat of paint but in over a decade, I haven't seen any major problems.

I have visited half a dozen times in the last six years, so I am familiar with Lutheran Towers. It's very pleasant. I enjoyed the people working there, and the people are all friendly. I would recommend it, though I don’t think there is anything that really stands out. I just liked the place and the people, and if it wasn’t for the $200,000 to get in, I would probably go there. The rooms were well-cared for. I have nothing negative to say; everything was as I expected. Lutheran Towers is one of the better places, if not the best.

We like that Orlando Lutheran Tower is a tri-level facility. It has assisted, independent, and skilled nursing care. The staff are very caring. They have a large dining room on the first floor, which is very nice. They have music sometimes. The facility is very clean and very well maintained. They have activities every day. They also have an activities director, so they have exercise, music, and bingo. They also have physical therapy.

We decided to leave my husband's grandmother at Orlando Lutheran Towers. She has adjusted better recently and has made some friends so that is helping her. I like that they have the opportunity to socialize with the other residents that are on other floors which is nice for her because she is still very social and very capable. She has some memory problems so it's kind of a nice blend situation and the cost seems a better value than a lot of the other places that I had seen. I've eaten there a couple of times and the food is good. I just wish they have more outdoor space for the residents where they could go out if they wanted to.

I am a friend or relative of a resident

We had a family friend who was a resident in the Lutheran Towers for many years. This facility is a continuing care facility in downtown Orlando. It sits in a high rise building and offers all different levels of care, from independent living all the way to skilled nursing care. I will focus my review on the assisted living portion of this facility as that is where our friend resided and the area I was able to visit most often. This is a gorgeous area with individual apartments for each of the residents. The staff are extremely friendly and helpful - from assisting with housekeeping to providing meals and medication reminders to the residents as often as necessary. I often saw staff approaching residents with a smile, calling them by name, and even offering those extra special touches like remembering a birthday or asking about one of those resident's family members (such as asking how a Grandchild is doing who has just left for college). I never entered this facility and found it to be anything except extremely clean, updated in decor, and all around welcoming. They do an excellent job of providing a friendly and home like feel in the individual apartments, in the common area, in the Chapel, and in the dining hall. Residents have access to a ton of activities regularly and I also often saw residents forming small activity groups on their own (a small book club perhaps or card game meet up). It was very obvious to me that this facility provides excellent care, but also encourages the highest level of independence for each and every resident. Overall I can think of nothing negative to say about this facility. Our family friend very much enjoyed her time there and I would highly recommend it to family and friends if the need ever arose.
