"It was a beautiful facility and the staff was very nice, but our family lives too far away. My father wanted to be more centrally located, so the family would have an opportunity to visit him. It was a brand new facility. They had multiple courtyards, their rooms were very nice. The dining room was beautiful. It was very clean. They provided showering or help with dressing, but he doesn't need any of that. He just mainly needs socialization."

"My sister is a resident of Blue Palms Senior Living of Deland. It is clean. The nurses are very nice and very respectful. This is the one place that I've never seen so good. I don't know if it's because it's a Christian place; they're very Christian. They go to church a lot, and the pastor is there. There are a lot of activities for my sister. She doesn't have a problem traveling; they take her and help her. She had a stroke, so her speech is not that good, but the therapy there is good. They are giving her physical therapy, occupational therapy, and speech therapy. Everyone there is a hundred, even the maintenance guy. The room could have been a little bit bigger, but it's okay for one person. The cleaning girl and the laundry people come every week. I might put myself in there. The food is okay, very bland and soft, but she eats it. It's healthy food. She has a refrigerator, she buys her own things like snacks and sandwiches, so she's good. The director there is very good, and the head nurse is fantastic. They have bingo and activities where they go out to the beach, the park, and shopping. Everybody seems to like it. They have a big board in the front with all the activities so nobody can miss it, and they also have a board in the room with a sheet of activities. They have a salon there, too."

"My mom is at Grand Villa Of DeLand and the people are just wonderful. They have a rec area, a beautiful courtyard, and a very caring staff. They have many activities plus speech therapy and they keep their residents very happy and very occupied. The rooms are excellent and it's a nice place. The food is good too."

"I recently visited Ormond in the Pines, it is a beautiful community. The staff was very friendly. I made an appointment to have lunch, I was introduced to a table of great people and the food was amazing. I saw the model apartment , I was very surprised how big the 1 bedroom is, I love the fact they have full kitchens. I am very excited about moving in and look forward to all the fun activities and outings with new friends."

"We were able to visit Rivera, and it was nice. It offered several amenities of what we were looking for, but not exactly what we were looking for. It was also expensive for what we could afford. I saw them doing activities like bingo. I saw a lady walking, and she was kind of lost. Everybody was so helpful, and I think that was a good thing. "

"I liked Brookdale DeLand. I had an excellent tour experience, and it was very promising. The person I met with was very, very reassuring in every sense of the word. The staff was very friendly, very professional, and caring. The dining room was very nice, and I was impressed with how they would serve the food. Most special dietary needs would be addressed. They had a chef and the food was prepared in-house. They had exercise classes, and different things to keep people active and their minds active. Every other weekend, they have a nondenominational church service, which was very important for my mom and my aunt. I liked the fact that anyone that is able and wants to get out of the facility, will take them to activities in the community. Most recently, they took several residents on their bus to downtown DeLand to the dog parade. She assured me that I or family or friends could come any time and take them out to lunch or activities. They would take them to their doctor visits. We could use their in-house doctor or we could stay with their own doctors."

"I toured Angel Premium Care LLC. Upon entering the home, it is a private dwelling. It was very clean and very nice. She had one other patient in the home who was bedridden. If we decided to go with that, my mom would have shared the room with the other patient. I didn't particularly care for that because it was a male, and there was no separation in the room. In other words, if my mom had gone there, a male could have been in another bed. I didn't care for the fact that the residents mostly have to stay in that one room because it is a private home. So, she is doing a good job. The owner was very nice, but it would not be for my mom. It was very nice on the inside. The owner lives there, so it was kept up. I don't want to say anything bad about it, but for my mom, it's just not the right place."

"I visited Lexington Place. It was brand new, well done, and with plenty of parking around it. Every room has the right kind of window. The 2-bedroom unit was very nice and a good size. They have 2 bathrooms and 2 excellent sized walk-in closets. We saw ladies playing cards and some people eating in one of the areas -- it looked really nice. The people that I met were very nice, which I was impressed by this. However, it was very expensive."

"Alba Court Residences & Adult Day Care Center had a lot to offer. The building was four stories but had a very small living apartment (I would hardly call it an apartment). It was a one-bedroom and the two bedrooms were also tiny that it was almost like being in a college dorm. It was very difficult to put a king-sized bed in the bedroom, but the living environment was very cozy and warm. Each room had a small balcony. Unfortunately, those that got better views were all taken. It was in a very nice beach town. It's a busy place most of the year-round, but you could feel like you could be a part of the town, not just the residence itself."

"I like Brookdale Ormond Beach. It seems like a very beautiful place. It looks like the people are engaged. The menu looked good. I didn't see the food, but I liked the choices that they had. I thought it was good. My mom has been in another place in the last couple of months, and I thought Brookdale Ormond Beach looked even better than that place. I talked to the person who was in sales and marketing. She introduced me to the head of nursing, and she was nice, too. I saw people sitting there waiting to go to their lunch and the nurse was meeting them to take to some of their things and somebody coming down pushing somebody for lunch and stuff like that. They went to lunch in the dining room full of people and it looked like they were lingering after their lunch to talk to each other. They had a lot of nice places like sitting areas and things going on where they had activity. It looks like a nice place. I hope my mom goes there, I do. They had different areas throughout the facility. It's not like the place my mom was in before. They had all kinds of different rooms. They had happy hour and a pool table. There were a lot of men there and stuff. It was nice. They had a nice gazebo out back. The lady, who is the chef, is passionate about gardening, and she has started a gardening club with some of the residents and they are planting all kinds of flowers out at the gazebo. "

"My in-laws are at Woodland Towers for about three weeks now. It's a very happy place and the people there are happy as well. The staff has been very helpful and they seem to be on top of things. We are really happy. The food is great. "

"Grand Villa was beautiful, but it wasn't what my dad needed. It was newer, so it was a little prettier and cleaner. It was in a nice location. It was a much larger facility than others we visited. We only talked to the intake coordinator, who was very helpful. "

"My husband moved to Gold Choice Deltona, and the staff is wonderful. Everybody there has been extremely helpful. They've helped him adjust very well, and he's doing fine. His moving-in process went very well, and it's been a very good experience for the most part. One roommate started going through his things a little bit, and that upset him a bit, but it was taken care of promptly."
