"I toured Ormond in The Pines and had a meal there. They gave us good choices, and the food was good to me. They had a lot of other doors where you don't have to come in the front door (and that part was good). You can choose to go into a door closer to where you live, and you're the only one that has the key to it. Each person has their own key to get in, but they're all locked from the outside so no one else can get in there. If you're not a resident, you can't get in. So, if I was going to visit someone, I'd have to go through the front door. That makes sense to me and that makes me feel secure. They did not really go over any security features other than the fact that they mentioned that you don't have to move out if there is a major event like a hurricane or whatever. The person that assisted us was very knowledgeable. He was the perfect person for the job. He answered all our questions. He gave us information we didn't even ask for, which was very helpful. He knows everything about it. He's very good with the residents there and everybody knows him and you can see that they like him. I think he really knows what he's doing. He was the best. The other staff were very interesting. Like the front desk didn't have a regular person in charge of the phone, and that bothered us all. They had somebody in charge there for a while, one person for the entire building, then that person had to leave for whatever reason to do another job, like he drives the bus too. So, if he's out on the bus, nobody answers the phone, and then they kind of have to pass it around, and I thought that was very poorly run. That part bothered me a lot, too, making me feel like if I was trying to get a hold of a loved one there that I'd have a hard time getting through if I couldn't find them. We all felt very strange about that issue. They had a very small outer office. It wasn't even an office because it was in the lobby. The lobby situation wasn't very good, but for the residents living in their quarters I felt that they had more room, and I felt that they had more privacy. It was easy to get in and out and that sort of thing."

"We found a place for my aunt called Riviera Senior Living, and I’m very happy with it. They’re accommodating, pleasant, and helpful, and my aunt is happy. The room is beautiful. I have eaten there a couple of times already, and their presentation of the food is wonderful. If a resident doesn’t seem to like something, they make every effort to find something that they do like. I have not observed that with my aunt, but I have seen other residents ask for something different, and they have been very accommodating. "

"My mother has been a resident for 5 1/2 years. My dad visited him every day until he passed away, and now I go every day when I'm here (every 2 weeks. We've observed wonderful, compassionate care by all of the employees. My dad was so confident in them that he often said that when his time came, he wanted to be there, too. That speaks volumes! Mom started in a suite, which was very spacious, and moved to the memory care unit when the need became evident. BTW, the food is very good! We'll continue to keep Mom there as long as possible. "

"It was a beautiful facility and the staff was very nice, but our family lives too far away. My father wanted to be more centrally located, so the family would have an opportunity to visit him. It was a brand new facility. They had multiple courtyards, their rooms were very nice. The dining room was beautiful. It was very clean. They provided showering or help with dressing, but he doesn't need any of that. He just mainly needs socialization."

"My mother moved into Magnolia Manor Assisted Living. They're very friendly, and they're very willing to do anything for you. They are taking very good care of her, so I have no complaints. Because of COVID, they have cut back on what they normally have there, so I really can't tell you yet. I know they have an exercise program that they do and take residents occasionally. They're keeping all the group stuff down. They have free TV, and they have cable. They've got breakfast, lunch, and dinner, and you can eat with them. You go into the dining room and the guests can eat with them. There are no limits to the visiting hours and they're able to come and go. She has been there that long for me to really dig in and check out things. They're concerned about her and they check on her. Being that it's assisted living, they're not in there overtime, but they do come into the room and check on her. When I request that they do something, they do it. They help her into bed because her bed was a little high, so they assisted her in and out of bed first couple of nights. The staff is very friendly. I chose this place because a friend of mine had a friend who had a relative in there, and they had a very good rating. The food is good; I had lunch with her one day. The food was very good for that kind of food; it was basic. I thought the food was good. There was one thing they called apple cobbler, but it didn't look like apple cobbler to me. I didn't eat. It looked like a pumpkin puree with whipped cream on top, and that's not apple cobbler, so that was strange. There's a salad that was delicious, they had some sort of chicken dish for dinner and for lunch, and it was OK. It wasn't unpalatable. It had flavor, but I wouldn't want to eat it there every day. I haven't seen their breakfast because my mother's got dementia, so she can't tell me what she had for breakfast. They can choose off the menu. It just says what they'll have for dinner, but I think if they don't like it they can request something different, so that's nice. When you walk in the door it smells so good, and there's no institutional odor at all, it is spotlessly clean. It's very clean, you're greeted with a friendly smile the minute you walk in the door, and they remember your name. They're just friendly and nice people. The rooms were empty, you furnish them yourself. We made it look nice and homey for her. We were able to make it like what she likes, so it didn't look like an institution or anything."

"It was very nice. The tour experience was very nice. The staff was very friendly. The building itself smelled very clean and fresh. The residents seemed to be taken care of. It was still kind of a lockdown, so the dining room wasn't fixed 100%, and it took someone about ten minutes to get to the inside common area to greet us, but other than that, I thought it was a very nice experience. They had a working elevator, and everything is numbered and signed where you are coming and going. For seniors, I think the staff is very personal in care, but it is in a town I live in, so it is very close to home to me."

"I visited Gentle Care. The staff was very friendly and very accommodating. They took me around and showed me the various rooms. They explained to me how the facility runs, etc. It was a private house that was turned into a facility. The rooms were typical bedrooms that you find in a one-family house. The dining area was clean. They have a recreational room to the back of the property attached where the residents can go sit and watch TV or play table games. There was also a piano in the living room, and they said that occasionally they have a pianist come in and entertain the residents. "

"I visited Tuscan Gardens of Palm Coast. They have a new building that's separate from the assisted living and there were only three people in it the day I looked. They have to go over to the main building for all the activities and stuff. It has the memory care as well. They have everything there including a gym and a fitness center with machines. It has the feel of an Italian. They have a big area where every Friday night they make pizzas in the oven that they have right there. You sit out there to see them cooking and all. It's a gathering place on Friday night for people. I only really met the gal that took us around, and then just waved to people that we went by. It's topnotch. It's expensive, but it's brand new, and large. The outdoor was very nice. They have a garden, a little putting green, and an area for sitting out there."
