I have a lady that comes out from Home Instead. I’ve been using them for about three or four years now. I use them all the time, three times a week, Monday, Wednesday, and Friday. My caregiver is very friendly and very beautiful. She does everything she’s supposed to do. She keeps my house. I love her personality. The agency keeps up with what she does and if she’s not able to come, they make sure they let me know. They’re prompt with everything. I’m not the last to know anything, and I really love my caregiver. They provide homecare and if I need certain things. She does light housekeeping and provides companionship. They let me know if she’s not able to come in and they’ll send a replacement, but I don’t want a replacement because I like Eileen in my house. I don’t like different people in my house. I’m used to her and I trust her. I have no problem with them. I don’t want another agency. I like them.

Right at Home provides in-home caregiving services for thousands of families across the nation. We offer companionship and help with everyday tasks that have become challenging for an aging person. This may include things like meal preparation, laundry, housekeeping, hygiene and grooming. We also offer services for those with special care situations caused by numerous medical conditions such as Alzheimer’s disease and other dementias. Call us to learn more about the specific services we provide.
Custom Care Plan
From the moment you call, we begin considering the specific needs of your loved one. We ask questions during the initial call or meeting to form a basic needs assessment. After discussing your particular situation, we will prepare an initial Custom Care Plan and then work with you to fine tune that Care Plan based on your loved one’s specific needs. Once the plan is agreed upon, your local Right at Home team matches the right caregiver to implement the plan.
Caregiver Training and Care Supervision
Every Right at Home caregiver goes through an extensive interview process, including background checks. Once hired, caregivers are trained through Right at Home University to ensure that they’re able to deliver the care set out in your loved one’s Custom Care Plan. Before providing care, they’re bonded and insured.

I would like to leave feedback on my caregiver Phyllis. She is has been the best companion that I have ever had. She works with this company and really likes it there. The people that work in the office are wonderful. If I call the office and need an extra day the ladies always pull through for me even if it is last minute. I’m disabled and live alone. If it was not for my caregiver I would not be able to go to the store or to my VA doctor. Phyllis helps me with a shower and makes food for me. She is here 8 hours each day except for Sundays. I’m so happy to have this service. It is great for disabled veterans like me.

We are able to keep Mom at home and get a home health care from Partners in HealthCare for her. That’s been working out very well so far. We all felt very good about them having a really flexible schedule. They’ve been great. We have been very happy with this agency. We really enjoy the person that works with us. My mom seems to be very comfortable with her. She would do light house cleaning, make the bed, and help my mom with her showering and shampooing. She’ll pretty much do whatever we ask of her. If we’re going out for a while and we don’t want to leave Mom all alone, we will have the home health care person come over and she’ll keep my mom company. She is extremely sensitivity with whatever my mom needs. She jumps right out to help Mom even though we’re there. I was really impressed with that. We feel comfortable with her. She seems to really put Mom first and focuses on her even when we’re there.

They found a chessboard. I guess my dad alluded that he used to play. My mom doesn’t really have the energy or the time to do that, so the caregiver offered. She was like, "Oh maybe one day we can do an activity, and we can play." I thought that was very thoughtful. I know that it would be also helpful to him to have an activity that he not only would enjoy, but will get him thinking and using his hands.

Tori and the Senior Helpers staff were by our side from that day on until our mother passed on May 5, 2016. The Senior Helper and nurse were at Mom’s house the moment we arrived from the hospital. There was a glitch in the Hospice transition and Jennifer, Senior Helpers nurse, stayed with us and provided guidance until 1 a.m. when Hospice finally arrived. Throughout the next 10 days, Senior Helpers were with our Mom 24/7, lovingly taking care of her every need. They were a joy to have in our home and dedicated to providing our mother with respectful care and concern in a warm and friendly way. Thanks to Senior Helpers and Hospice our Mother passed away with her dignity and privacy in tact. We would highly recommend Senior Helpers for all families in need of this service.

Financial Assistance for Home Care in Winter Park, FL
Given the high cost of in-home care, many people use one or more forms of financial assistance to cover the expenses. Below, we explain some of the most common sources of financial help for paying for in-home care. If none of these options are available to you, you can reach out to your Area Agency on Aging or Aging and Disability Resource Center to learn about local resources.
- Long-Term Care Insurance: Long-term care insurance covers expenses related to senior care, including in-home care. Depending on the policy type, beneficiaries may receive a cash payment to use towards long-term care or reimbursement for qualifying long-term care expenses. Note that there are limitations- typically a maximum benefit of $150 per day- and exact coverage terms vary depending on the exact policy, so always check the details.
- Medicare: Medicare does not cover in-home care because it is classified as custodial, or non-medical, care. However, some Medicare Advantage and Medicare Supplement plans, which offer expanded benefits, may cover in-home custodial care.
- Medicaid: Medicaid coverage of in-home care varies between different states because it is not a federally mandated benefit. Currently, all states cover some in-home care either through their standard Medicaid or a waiver program. The specific coverage rules are set individually by each state.
- Veterans’ Benefits: The Aid and Attendance benefit is a monthly cash payment that beneficiaries can use to pay for senior care, including in-home care services. To qualify for A&A, Veterans must already receive the VA pension and meet several additional requirements, including needing assistance with the activities of daily living. Contact the Department of Veterans Affairs to learn more.
- Reverse Mortgages: Home Equity Conversion Mortgages (HECMs) are federally insured loans that are available to homeowners age 62 and over. Reverse mortgages allow you to access a portion of your home’s equity in cash, tax free. Many seniors use reverse mortgages to finance their care expenses, including in-home care. Note that although there are no monthly payments due on reverse mortgage loans, borrowers do have to repay the loan once the last surviving homeowner passes away, moves, or sells the home.

The average monthly cost of home care in Winter Park is $3,813, per Genworth’s 2020 Cost of Care Survey. This is based on an estimated 44 hours of care per week. Breaking it down further, seniors can expect to pay approximately $20 an hour, $125 per day and $45,760 annually for in-home care. An individual’s costs may vary depending on the hours of assistance they require.
How can I find home care agencies near me with availability?

Here, seniors will find information about each facility, including amenities and services provided, as well as reviews from clients and their loved ones. The ADRC’s Senior Resource Alliance also offers counseling that helps people understand their options for long-term care.
What is the difference between in-home care and home health care?
In-home care provides help with activities that older adults may struggle to do on their own, such as bathing, toileting, grooming and getting dressed. It also includes transportation to appointments, companionship, meal preparation and light housekeeping. Home health care provides medical assistance in addition to these services. This may include skilled nursing, wound care, physical therapy and the administration of medications.
Assisted living homes vs. home care: how to decide?
In-home care can be a good option for seniors who are able to safely and comfortably remain in their own home with some help. It provides one-on-one care that’s tailored to meet each senior’s needs. Home care is typically more expensive than assisted living, however. Assisted living removes the burden of managing caregivers and allows seniors to socialize with others their age. It’s ideal for those who need 24/7 supervision and personal care, which could be unaffordable for some seniors living at home.
Can you write off in-home elderly care?
According to the IRS, personal assistance provided by in-home caregivers isn’t deductible, but nursing services provided by home health aides are. For example, if a caregiver spends 70% of their time on personal care and 30% performing medical services, seniors may only deduct 30% of what the caregiver was paid for their work. Caregiver meal expenses and employment taxes paid for attendants are deductible as well.
