Assisted living residents in Ocala enjoy a scenic location in the backwaters of north-central Florida. Known as the horse capital of the state, Ocala is famous for its lush rolling hills and crystal clear springs. The city is located just 35 miles south of Gainesville next to Ocala National Forest, which features more than 600 pristine lakes used for kayaking, snorkeling and other recreational pursuits.
This retirement hot spot is home to an above-average number of seniors representing more than 18% of the city’s residents. Older adults who need a little extra help around the house or don’t want to deal with exterior maintenance and other concerns can find private apartment-style accommodations at local assisted living facilities. These communities offer 24-hour assistance from trained personal care aides, and most have a nurse on-call or on-site 24 hours a day. Monthly costs average around $4,000, which is $300 more than the state median and $300 less than the rest of the country.
This guide features information about local assisted living facilities, average long-term care prices and organizations that can help with planning and placement.

The facility is brand and very pretty inside and out, the sales person was very knowledgeable and gracious. Mom and I were treated to a delicious lunch, we had an opportunity to be served by the Dining Room Manager and even spoke with chef. Overall our experience was a good one, with all the staff we meant being very kind.
We noticed during the first however when we were invited to stay for entertainment that there was not much activity in the facility and not many resident present to enjoy the music. I decided that we should come back on a weekend , so we returned the following Saturday to check things out for a second time. Mom and I again found little activity taking place and residents sitting around the front desk. I believe from what we have seen that the care, food and environment are most likely fantastic, but a stronger activity calendar and more staff engagement with the residents is a must.
This was my first choice because of location, however we decided on something different for the time being. We will check back again when they more residents and see if the activities are better.
