"We like Brookdale Canopy Oaks very much. It seemed to be all on one floor. It was very friendly and clean. The tenants there were cheerful and talked with us for quite a while. The workers seemed cheerful and happy to be working there, so that made a good impression. The rooms that the staff showed us looked very nice and comfortable. She showed us the hallway and the dining area, which were nice and comfortable. The woman who gave us the tour was so friendly, nice, and very helpful."

"My parents moved to Highpoint at Stonecrest. It's very nice, but just like any place, there are certain things that aren't great, but it's still a good facility. They need more organization over issues and taking care of different things as they happen, so that everybody's on the same page with care and everything. The meals are very good. They have an everyday menu with 10 different items on it, and then each day they have two or three items that are specials. So, there are plenty of choices. The rooms are clean and well taken care of. They have a lot of different activities like live entertainment, bingo, social events, trips to different places, and movies."

"A Banyan Residence was extremely expensive, but the people there were extremely happy and kind. My husband was in memory care and they had him sitting up in the wheelchair from early in the morning until bedtime often. I complained several times and said that they can't have someone sitting like that all day for a year and half. He needs to lie down and take a nap after lunch and so they started doing that for him. There was a lot of entertainment, where they would go from one entertainment to another and many people that are in charge of activities said, "This is not good for these people. They need to lay down and rest." You just cannot have lunch and put them into this big exercise room that had a huge TV there, and kept them going all day. That was not desirable, but they did many other things that were exceedingly good. The staff were extremely kind, always helpful, and always guiding. The food was horrible. One case was they had a little piece of dried-up, overcooked chicken, very thin, like a piece of paper, that you couldn't even cut with a knife and other things in the plate that you didn't even know what they were. They had two skinny little pieces of bacon and a tablespoon of egg. The Christmas meal was just a disgrace. They had a piece of whole wheat toast, a little piece, like a Pepperidge Farm size, and they put them alongside. No jelly. No butter. They put them in the oven and I said, "Why aren't you toasting it and giving it a nice piece of bread?" They said that they don't have a toaster. I said, "You have a couple hundred people and you don't even have a toaster?" That was just unbelievable. In the morning, no butter on the pancakes and syrup. I really complained and then they started changing things. The place is beautiful, but they are putting all the money outside, on the grounds. They have in many cases, a recliner, that you can't move (if you're really in a horrible shape, I guess you don't need it.) They have so many things going for them, but they're spending a fortune outside in landscaping. It is absolutely an oasis. When you have a memory problem or you're just sitting around staring, you don't need all of that."

"Buffalo Crossings Assisted Living was a beautiful and friendly place. The quality of the residents that I saw there were good. They were up and about, and everyone looked happy. There was a lot of chatter in the lunch area. The tour person was very friendly and informative. She was the most pleasant person I've ever met. She also described the different neighborhoods they had since the facility was set up in different neighborhoods with similar names. The rooms were humongous. They were really big. They had several room sizes available and they were more affordable, too. We didn't get the chance to taste the food, but they were nice enough to invite my parents over so they could enjoy a meal. They even said so much that I could come and join them. The dining area was open all the time, so there's no fixed time."

"Sumter Place was too expensive for my aunt. It's brand new, very well-kept, the staff was friendly, and they had a lot of activities. The rooms were spotless, large, airy, and bright, and they had a nice kitchen. I thought it was a very nice place, and everything was lovely there."

"The staff was very friendly. The room we were shown was ridiculous though. The width of the room was the width of a bed so it was ridiculously tiny. We saw other shared rooms though where the size was reasonable. A resident we spoke to while we were waiting told us she was bored, and the residents we saw were really just sitting in their rooms and not doing anything. The staff was friendly and the outside surroundings were very nice and wooded."

"I visited New Horizon of Inverness. The staff was very friendly, everybody seemed very happy, and nobody seemed depressed or ignored. There was a physical therapist bouncing around with an old lady, the administrator that took me around knew everybody by name, the the janitor was fantastic and very friendly. It's a very nice place, with a country setting, and very laid back. However, it was very expensive."

"This is top of the line. It's just one year old so it's almost brand new and absolutely stunning. It has an extremely good quality of restaurants. It has three different ones for morning, noon, and night. The food is excellent. You can order what you want off the menus. It has all the available facilities for working out and they have a coach to help you do exercises. They have a theater that will seat 125 people. They have shows periodically almost once a month, and they have somebody come in there and do performances. They have a good extreme number of various shapes, sizes, and rooms that people would use, from 1,200 square feet down to 600 square feet, so there's excellent diversity of rooms and accommodations. They don't have restrictions on keeping you there for each year at a time. You can go on a monthly rental basis. They have healthcare for their people and an on-duty nurse. Their cost is about the same as everybody else's. The staff have all been very gracious and we don't even belong to them, yet they let us cme and see their shows and occasionally sit with our friends who are there for lunch and dinner. They're very open to outsiders coming in and seeing what their facility can and can't do. There are extra wide corridors and the reason for that is they have paintings on the walls, and you can walk three or four abreast. It gives it a more spacious feeling so you don't feel like you're enclosed as you walk through the corridors."

"The employees at The Bridge are caregivers who not only reflect the high standards of The Bridge, but also the loving, caring hearts within each of them. They say they become "family" for each of their residents and it's true. They are exceptional! "

"I've been in the Life Care Center of Ocala for two-and-a-half months now and I need more continued assistance. This place is very well equipped. It has a quarantine section and a long-term section. It's a big place. It's got over 200 beds and different aisles, and depending upon your problem, they kind of put those people together. I need a lot of help and whatnot. The food is quite good and the physical therapy is excellent. Everybody's having trouble getting help, but they dovetail with one another and people come in on the spur of the moment. That's a good sign they like working here. I can eat all of my lunch here. You select a week before and then they try to follow. We choose what they offer and most likely, if you circled the right thing, you'll get it. If you forget to circle something and it looks like you need some more, they'll substitute something. They always have three kinds of soup, salads, and meat. We have fish, chicken, beef, and a wonderful pork roast. For a large organization and they are well serving so many people, it's good food. They have different kinds of potatoes and sweet potatoes. They try to balance the meal out. They're in here cleaning every day. They serve ice cream twice a week at the ice cream parlor, popcorn another day, bingo, and card games. It's a nicely laid out place. They're very expensive, unfortunately. If your insurance will cover it, it's fine, but if your insurance runs out or you don't have insurance, it would be very expensive to be here. My insurance ran out last week and that's why I have to look for another place because I can't afford it. They give a lot of free stuff to us, supplies and things. I came here with nothing and I've got toothpaste, deodorant, cream, and shampoo, your bedding, and everything. That's all good. It's a 25-year-old place. It's not brand new."

"The Windsor of Ocala was kept up very well, clean, and safe. The staff seemed very pleasant and eager to assist in any way possible. They had a very wonderful apartment setting. There's a little sitting room, a kitchen counter area where they have a regular sized refrigerator, a microwave, and a sink. Then they have the bedroom and a wheelchair-accessible bathroom. So, it's almost like a very tiny apartment. They showed us the hair salon, the arts and crafts room, and the private dining area that residents can use when families come over and visit to have a private meal. They had a wonderful little courtyard that was enclosed within the building and it was beautifully decorated. It had a little walkway and bird feeders. It's a very nice, quiet outdoor area. They had a sunroom screened-in area that was beautiful, too. It was very expensive, but it's wonderful. I liked the administrator who was in charge of giving the tours. She was extremely helpful and answered all the questions that my brother and I had. She even stated that even if we don't use their facility for my mother, they can try and help in any other way possible, even refer to another one or other community things that are available for her until she goes into assisted living. I've had food there before. They have community events throughout the year. At Thanksgiving, they give out a pumpkin pie and a pecan pie and you don't have to know anyone that goes there. If you're on their mailing list, you get a card, and since my mother's friend was there, we have received cards telling us about these events. You call them, you tell them what you would like on that day, and you just show up there and they give you a pie or something for free."
