Independent Living Communities in Ocala, FL

"I toured Steeplechase Retirement Residence. It was just very nice. We were greeted by very nice, friendly, informative people. We ate in the dining area and each table is served by a waiter or waitress and they have at least two to three things for you to choose from to eat, as well as salads. They have ice cream if you want one to sneak down at night, and they have popcorn. So that's kind of good. I walked in there and I felt it was very homey. People were gathered in the main eating area, and it was full. They have a pool, a library, and a place where you could get internet on your computer. The food was a little too good. The layout was very good. They had the middle where there was like a rotunda, and then off to it they had the large eating area with the tables and chairs. From there you could go up on the elevators or you could use the stairs if you're able. You could go out to the pool, too. Everything came off of that center area, which you can reach easily from each apartment. They have a laundry area with washers and dryers on every floor. They also have a place for your trash. They take people to doctors and to shop."

"Because Carriage House was new, it was beautiful and very pretty. Their dining room was also beautiful. They did have wonderful activities for their residents. I really love the staff there. They were very warm and personable. They really know how to sell the place. Even though we haven't been back there, we got a call from the person who showed us around. There were lots of followups, invitations, and calls. I did eat there and the food was not as good as the other facility. However, the people that I met and talked to were pleased enough to live there. With regards to accommodations, they don't have washers-dryers in their apartments. They did have a laundry facility section on your floor. They also don't have a stove. They only have a refrigerator and a microwave. They have a kitchenette and not a kitchen. "

"I have a friend that lives at American House and I haven't seen her this happy in years. She told me that moving there was the best decision she has made. The staff is always helpful and looks out for her. One of my favorite things is that they have a restaurant that is open all day and she can eat when she wants. "

"We got contacted by a woman at Sumter Senior Living, and we ended up heading over there because of my father-in-law's request, he is now working with them to possibly move in as early as next week. We toured both independent living and the memory care unit. The experience was very positive. The people were friendly. They gave us the information that we needed, gave us the tour, and answered all the questions we had on the tour. The rooms were very clean and well-maintained. The facility was very easy to navigate and had a lot of resources for both my in-laws, so that made it easy as well. The staff on the tour was extremely friendly and welcoming to my in-laws for the care that they need as well as the nurse. We talked to the nurse in the memory care facility for a little while and she was very helpful."

"It was a beautiful place. It's almost five-stars. It's very, very nice. I was toured by a salesperson, and it was a great tour. We got to see an apartment and all the facilities. It was a one-bedroom apartment and pretty much brand new. It had a beautiful kitchen, beautiful bathrooms, a laundry area, and it was very spacious. They also had a theater, a bar, or social area where you can have drinks and have a community kind of hang out. There were two or three restaurants, an exercise room, a pool, and pretty much everything you'd want in an assisted living environment. I think it's really one of the nicest ones around, but it's a large community, and it would not work out for my dad, he would get lost. There were a lot of long hallways where you couldn't quite know where you were."

"Joe decided he wanted to go to Magnolia Walk. He's very independent and can take care of himself. He has a friend from Calton Arms who is also moving to Magnolia Walk. The only thing I worry about is Joe can't cook. He eats frozen dinners. My husband and I will keep in touch with Joe to make sure he's doing well. Also, Magnolia Walk is a senior citizen community. My husband said it's a very nice place. "

"We have a home at Fairfield Village that we purchased. Mom is going to be staying in there with the neighbors all around her that will be looking after her and admires her. And if there's anything further then I'm going to get higher home service to come in once or twice a day to look in on her. They have daily activities, a newspaper for the community they give out on a weekly basis, and a recreational center where mom could go to and participate. It's a very nice community, very well maintained, and managed. That’s what we liked about it. Mom's been there for two months now. It's wonderful. She's happy. In fact, she's got a 90th birthday coming up and we're going to have a big blow out for her. "

"I'm a very happy resident of Oak Valley and live in a large, beautiful 2/2 which is simply beautiful. Hardwood floors, w/d in the unit, granite counters, soft-closing cupboard doors, and the list goes on and on and on of the wonderful amenities here at OV. We also have a pool, gathering area, computer lab, gym, dog park, and Media Room. It's perfect. The staff is great, no ... Excellent. The residents all appear to be cordial, friendly and come from all interesting backgrounds, many Veterans. We are very close to Subway, less than a block. We are near ALL the fast-food restaurants, about one mile away, and very close to the NEW Publix and Harveys Grocery Stores. If you are fortunate enough to be able to live here, you will think you died and went to heaven. OK, maybe not heaven but a vacation in Hawaii. I do not work for HTG or anywhere else, I'm retired and happily so. If you hear any complaints about OV, be very, very slow to believe them. Somethiing is wrong and it's not with Oak Valley."

"I went to Bridgewater Park and met Danielle. She was very nice and helpful. The facility was just a little bigger. It was a two-story and they have a true apartment-like facility. So, it was too big for my parents. The rooms were very nice though and they probably have a little more activities and amenities. It was a little more upscale. The people were very friendly, very helpful, and knowledgeable."

"I love On Top Of The World Communities. I've been here for 14 years and I love it. I have no problems. Our amenity fees have gone up, but when I looked at everything else, everything has gone up. So, you just have to make adjustments to things. This is the best place for me to be. We have an abundance of amenities. It's fabulous. They have several pools, golf, and all kinds of activities. Everything you can imagine, we have it here. We have all kinds of clubs and the neighborhood is just absolutely beautiful. Having a villa, my amenities include lawn maintenance. They paint my villa every 7 years and a new roof every 15 years. Of course, I pay for the new roof because they don't include that, but they install it. They take care of all of that. Everybody here loves all the entertainment that we have and all of the possibilities that we have. Sometimes there are some fees for different things, but most of it is included in the amenities."

"Pine Run is a very nice community. They don’t serve food. They have a lot of activities and they have a lot of stuff going on for seniors, like bingo and card games. The people and the staff are very nice here. We have housing. It’s very comfortable, and we liked it here. "

"I visited timber ridge and i thought it was a lovely place. the staff there was very nice all the times that i visited there. it was a very clean facility and the patient seemed very happy there. the patients looked clean and the facility didnt have any odor to it like most places. the people that i was visiting like the place. there meals seemed well balanced and nice portion size. so the patients there are being care for very well. "

"I was at Del Webb Spruce Creek. It was a paradise and can’t be compared. They had three swimming pools, lakes where you can go fishing, a fitness center, and so many activities that you just can’t keep up with it. They also had car shows, gardening, and wood crafts. It was a gated community. "

"Trinity Springs is bright and the room that Mom had was spacious with good closet space. They had activities if someone's able to go. People seemed pretty nice. The facility was clean. They have a dining room where they do their meals and an auditorium that seats about 75 where they have meetings and film. Some of the food was good. Some of it was just OK."
