"I will be moving into Sumter Senior Living. I like the facility, plus the fact that it's close to where I live. I know the area, and it's near my friends. I've seen it a number of times now. They worked very well with me and accomplished what I wanted to do. I ate there a couple of times. I liked the fact that they have the open menu. One thing I like there is if I have a doctor's appointment, I don't have to go by their car or by their scheduled tours. They'll send a special car over for me. They have a salon, a gym, and a pool."

"My friend really enjoyed Woodland Towers. The facility presents well. They have the older side and then the newer side, and each side offers a little something for each person, depending on what they need. The food was good, and the service was very good. The other residents were very friendly. Diana was the person in sales and tours, and she was lovely to deal with. My friend liked the facility because it was a smaller town, a homey type of a facility. He felt like he belonged there. It stood out the most because of the simplicity and the more down-home feel. They offer a salon service there. They have a theater. They pretty much have all the services the fancier ones have. They have a swimming pool. They have an apparatus to allow handicapped people to get in and out of the pool. They have a shuttle for your doctor's appointment, and if you need to go to the store."

"We were very impressed with Villa Grande on Saxon. Their one-bedroom, one-bath had a full kitchen, which sort of appealed to us. Carol was very informative, very friendly, and answered all of our questions. I just asked to be shown the pool, the exercise area, and the room."

"Both my parents are in the Grand Villa of DeLand's assisted living. I like the staff and their marketing director because they are very easy to work with. I like the rooms that they have available for my parents. They're a very clean and very active facility. I've talked to the residents there, and they all love the food and are very, very well-pleased there. My understanding from the moving company that moves stuff there is that the place doesn't lose a lot of people from being unhappy, so there are a lot of long-term residents there. For activities, they have yoga, exercise classes, and bingo. They also bring in entertainment on Friday afternoons (whether it be a piano player, a guitar player, or a singer). They have poker and card games too. I think the value we are getting is tremendous."

"We moved into The Carriage House. I like that the people are very friendly. It is a very warm, family atmosphere with lots of nice activities and in our price range. They have a pool, a gym with weight machines and a putting green. We are very involved in the activities, like bocce ball, shuffle board, and Wheel of Fortune. We like the food very much. We also like the fact everybody eats together, so for all three meals, it is a family gathering. The staff is friendly and helpful. They make us very comfortable here. "

"A lot of the people out here have talked about Steeplechase opening up. It has easy access to things and the environment is homey. The rooms are real nice and they can move your furniture for you at no cost. The food was all right. "

"My brother moved to Blue Palms Senior Living of Deland. He didn't have furniture, but they helped him at no cost. He gets two meals a day and they clean the apartment twice a month. They have free road trips, taking them shopping and elsewhere. The staff is very up-to-date on what's going on. I tried the food, and it was excellent. The building is very good, and they offer quite a few activities. They held a barbecue for Memorial Day weekend for all the visitors and family, and they do a lot of things like that."

"I went to tour and it was absolutely amazing and gorgeous. I liked the atmosphere because it was a pleasant place. The staff was excellent. The rooms were gorgeous and nice. They were full of activities. It was a great place, and I look forward to moving there."

"Brookdale Wekiwa Springs had cottages that we were interested in and we did go through and visit one of the available ones. They were exceptional in size and met our needs. They were all updated and had modern appliances. The staff was excellent and very knowledgeable. The gentleman I spoke to was very friendly. He even took us to one of the occupied facilities to see what one would look like furnished. Our lunch was very good, but the portions were a little bit smaller than we would have liked. They had a Wii station on the second floor, a gym, and a pool."

"I did an in-person visit of American House Wildwood. It was quite informative, and we had a good exchange of correspondence with the person who gave us the tour. It's just we're not quite ready for that yet. I didn't really get into any exchanges with any of the staff except for the person who gave us the tour. The rooms were plentiful. They had a swimming pool, card games, billiard tables, shuffleboard, a nice bar facility, nice restaurant, and little diner. It was pretty satisfying. I discussed some issues with the person who gave us the tour."

"I toured Bahama Bay Club Luxury Senior Living. It's too expensive, and they can't accommodate my diet. However, it's a very attractive and nice place. It looks like you're in a resort. The facility was very clean, and the outdoors was kept nicely. The staff was very nice and friendly, and you felt welcomed."

"Chambrel at Island Lake was nice, very clean and very large. There was a bit of walking and some residents were older. The distances toward the dining room or parking lot would be one of the things they should be concerned about. The apartments had a complete kitchen. The residents seemed active, happy and contented. They had a lot of activities and there was a calendar on the wall with what was happening and what was available. They had several computers for residents who wanted to work or took lessons. There was also a swimming pool and water exercises. The lady that showed me around was very friendly, nice and helpful. In the dining room, the people were helpful and pleasant. I had lunch and the food was delicious. They had a good selection of food, some were available all the time and others were available for the day only. It seemed like you can have anything you wanted. I was really interested in this facility and I would recommend it to others. "
