"I was in Solaris Healthcare Waterman for two years. Pretty much most of the staff was very good. I had a problem with one nurse who I understood that other people had problems with. She actually lied to me about my ileostomy care because she was supposed to change the wafer and it was supposed to be done during the day on her shift. When I reminded her, she said, "Let me check." She came back and said, "Oh, no, it says, do it after 7:00 p.m." I said, "No. That's not what it calls for." She said, "I can't do it, but if you would absolutely insist." I said, "I don't want you to get in trouble." It turned out, she lied. That was not true. Eventually, they let her go, but it took them too long. Everyone complained about her. The nurse said that that nurse would sit there at her nurse's station. They'd outweigh each other to see who would answer a call and finally the other nurse would end up doing it because she was never going to do it. She wasn't allowed to see me after that. We actually had another couple of incidents where I asked for help when my ileostomy leaked. It took her three hours to come, and she claimed she was at a meeting. The supervisor said, "No, we don't call nurses off the floor to have a meeting, especially for three hours." The other nurses were very nice and very good, but for what we were paying, I didn't feel like we got everything we should have gotten. On the other hand, it was clean and the CNAs were, for the most part, excellent. The food was pretty good. The cook did as well as he could. Just before I went there, it was non-profit, and it was sold to a for-profit company and the budgets were cut everywhere. The food budget and stuff was all cut. The kitchen management did an excellent job considering what they did, but after a while, it got tedious because you got the same food all the time. The same things were served all the time. They only have private rooms there. There were no shared rooms available. When my husband went to talk to them about having me there, they said, "We can take ileostomy patients," but they knew nothing about how to take care of the ileostomy. To this day, when I left, they had nurses who didn't like changing the ileostomy wafer. When I first went there, the thing leaked constantly and they didn't seem to be particularly interested in learning. My husband did a lot of research with the company that supplies the ileostomy supplies. We taught them how to do it. They got better. They had quite a few activities and the activities people did a good job. First they came around with carts with things like magazines and puzzle books, Sudoku book, little things like that, but then I was told that the management took away their cart. The activities committee paid for the carts. They said that the management took them away from them. They had to come around with just stuff in their hands. They had bingo and movie nights and all that kind of stuff. I did learn how to get books by mail from them. Occasionally, they got crossword puzzle books and stuff. They had painting. They had a lot of stuff. I just never took advantage of it. The food was good and well prepared, but limited. The facility was overall excellent. They came around every day and asked if we wanted to do something. We were private pay and some people there were on Medicaid."

"My mother is in NeuLife Rehabilitation. It's for level-one trauma patients who have brain injuries. It's the perfect place for anybody who's in a wheelchair and has major trauma-type injuries. The staff is amazing: they're super, super nice, caring people, they do a great job, and they're medically trained, so they know how to do more than the average facility, probably. It's been a good experience for my mom. Because of COVID, we have to visit outside, but my mom likes her room. She said it's like an apartment; it's very nice. The facility is physically older, but the care they give is great. It's far away from me. I have to drive three hours to visit my mom, but it's a nice location if you are from that area, because it's in the rolling hills, it's secluded from the city, and it's very nice."

"My mother is doing rehab in Lake Harris Health Center Skilled Nursing. The first week she was fighting them and not doing the therapy, but now she's calmed down and is doing the therapies. She liked the nurses and aides, so it's all going well now. The staff is friendly and helpful, she likes them all. There's only one she doesn't like saying she's mean to her, this staff probably makes her get up and do things that's why. I can't get in to see the room but my wife says it's a very nice room they put her in. Earlier she was in isolation but now her room is like a home setting. I was able to visit before they shut it down. They bring her on a screen-enclosed porch and I sit outside the porch and we talk from like 8 feet away. She says the food is pretty good. There are a couple of meals she doesn't like, but for the most part she says it's good. They seem to be very good. Now that they're moving along with her therapy, they call me once a week, and we have like a conference call where they have the therapist, nurse, and case worker come into the conference room. They've done that for several weeks. That's very helpful in getting information and knowing what she's doing and not doing. They also seem to be cooperative, they're nice, and easy to deal with, so I think it's great. The place looks very nice, everything looks clean and elderly, and they just repainted the drive."

"My mother-in-law has moved into South Campus Care Center. It's very clean, and the people are very nice and very attentive to her. She's getting good care. The staff were very knowledgeable. I have not tried the food, but my mother-in-law loves it. I am not thrilled with the layout of the building, but the cleanliness is wonderful. When she was in there, she went from laying in bed and hardly speaking to anybody, to being up and singing with others in the activity room; that was a huge improvement for her. They have a screened-in courtyard."

"North Campus Rehab was totally different from the other campus. The food was good and we actually went up there two times and ate with her. The staff was excellent and the rooms were clean. It’s totally different than where she is now. They actually had a meeting, talked to us, and let us know what was going on. They had something going on every day; they had ice cream socials, church, different singers come in, and they played bingo. "

"This facility has all new management, and they are excellent! The Executive Director Rachelle is amazing with a heart of gold and her love for her residents’ shines! The Director of Nursing has great communication and is very compassionate! She took the time to speak to me several times with updates on my loved one! The therapy Director Jordan is very knowledgeable and gave me updates when I asked. When visiting everyone was very nice and full of smiles from the front desk to the CNA's working the floor. Everyone also seemed to know the names of all the patients! Very impressed and nothing bad to say! Also, the Dietary manager is new with obvious experience, my loved one had no complaints about the food!"

"My father did short-term therapy and made a very good comeback and he is home on his own again. He was at Apopka Health and Rehabilitation Center. They helped him with his balance, his walking, and getting up and down. He couldn't get out of the hospital bed when he left without assistance, and then after one week he was able to walk with the walker and get out of bed. After two weeks he was able to walk without the walker, and on the third week he was able get up and down out of a chair by himself with no help. At Christmas time, he came to our house, and he couldn't get off the couch without assistance. On New Year's Day, he was like, "Look, what I can do," and he got off the couch all by himself. No problems, so they helped him with all his strength and balance. They did rehab every day for two hours in the rehab center, and then every evening a therapist came to his room with hand weights, and they did weights from the chair and the bed. So, he got rehab twice a day. The staff was excellent. Everybody was super friendly and super nice. The facility is beautiful. It's actually pretty new. It's only five years old. I have not tried the food, but he said everything was very good. The rooms were great. He had a shared room, but it was separated by a fairly significant common area and a curtain. They shared a bathroom. He was free to come and go. We were able to pick him up and take him. They have a hair salon, two or three dining rooms, a movie theater, and separate living room areas with couches, chairs, and tables that we could take them to when we wanted to see them. We can walk down to the living room area and sit on the couch and relax and watch TV with them. It was very nice and clean there. They have a schedule of activities every day from 9:00 in the morning until 6:00 at night every day. I think my father participated in some stuff, but I don't know exactly. I don't know what it cost, but it was money well spent. Literally every time we would see him, he would say, "Thank you for giving me this place. Thank you." He was very appreciative that he was there."

"The rehab and therapy department of The Villages was exceptional. The community itself was very good and the grounds were nice. My parents' only complaint was the food, and that there should be better staffing on the third shift. Other than that, everything was excellent, the therapy team, the first, and second shift people were fantastic. The CNAs, social worker, the director, and administrators were all excellent."

"We toured Lady Lake Specialty Care. The area we visited was clean, but it wasn't nearly as nice as the other two we visited. It's older. It's probably 30 years old, so it was not up-to-date. The staff who gave the tour was friendly. They showed you around them. They were nice. They were okay."

"We went to AdventHealth Care Center Apopka South (Formerly Florida Living Nursing Center). Their memory care center was shut down for rehab, so we couldn't place mom there. It was a very nice facility, they provide activities, and they take them on outings. They had a nicely set up dining facility. They had a TV room and a garden area. The residents can come and go as they please, but the staff seemed very caring and attentive. The facility was very nicely set up."

"My mom spent rehab in Village on the Green, and I liked that facility. It was very modern. They had nice high ceilings and it was very open. It didn't feel claustrophobic. I liked the artwork on the walls. They had bingo, arts, and crafts. Some of the therapists there were good, too. The staff there was great. I was able to spend the night there with her, and I know that the staff came in every 2 hours to check her vitals. She was trying to get up out of bed, and they were able to prevent her from falling out of bed because they checked on her so much. Her room was very nice and very clean, with walk-in showers. It was new and very modern."
