"Hawthorne Estates of Ocala was very attractive. We had a little trouble getting a tour, apparently, the person that was scheduled to give us the tour was called away for a family emergency. They had left a message, but it was long after we had to leave to make our appointment. So, a receptionist showed us around. It wasn't much of a tour, as you might imagine. What we saw was very nice. They serve two meals a day. There have been very few activities though, from their calendar, it seemed there were ice cream socials and that's about it. They send a menu around once a week, and you have to check off the food you want for that week. The person who gave us the tour was all right, it's just kind of a truncated affair. She was kind of taken aback by the whole thing because she didn't realize we were coming."

"We toured American House Wildwood. We were very impressed with the whole place. The staff was great. They had a very nice library. They said somebody who lived there set it up for him who had been a librarian."

"Steeplechase was a nice place, but it needed a shot in the arm. The price was very good, they didn't have any entry fees, and the food was decent. They had a pool and the normal game things. A lot of people age in place in this location. They do all your laundry and offer 3 meals a day. "

"The Carriage House was really a very good place but we prefer some place that would be closer to our friends. The staff was absolutely nice during our visit. The food there was quite good. They have a pretty extensive community activity program. They had all games, crafts and trips. It was quite interesting. They had large rooms and nice facilities. The place seemed a secured and a comfortable place. "

"The Residence at Timber Pines is very close to where my aunt lives. The place was excellent and it was very nice. The staff's work ethic was very strong. We did see the rooms. They were exceptionally good. They had all the standard activities. They were multidimensional. What I like best about it was the proximity to my aunt's house. It was in the neighborhood, so it wasn't disruptive from that perspective. "

"Sumter Senior Living has a very nice pool, a nice dining area, a nice informal dining area, and a lot of physical activity facilities. It is located in a nice area at the top of a hill, but it is 10 to 15 minutes away from a hospital. I saw a one-bedroom. The size is adequate. My particular desire is something where I could have visitors stay in another room, but it's not available at the moment. There is a waiting list, too. I saw the menu and they showed us the area where you can eat. They provide three meals a day. The dining area was very attractive and very comfortable. They also have a parking facility for your own car."

"I toured Brookdale Chambrel Pinecastle. They had large rooms. They made it to our list. The rooms were nice. The staff who accommodated us was very nice, too. I was still texting back and forth with her. She has been very friendly and helpful. The dining area looked fine. But several residents were at the front complaining about the food that day. The activities were good. They were nice. They have a pond with a walking path around the pond with benches. It was very nice. They had what they call the fitness room, and it looked really good. They just got through remodeling a bunch of the rooms, so it was very nice."

"I'm moving to Brentwood Retirement Community. I have a 1-bedroom unit. I have a scooter to get to the dining room and other facilities. The staff was very pleasant and good. I went to two or three luncheons. One meal I didn't care for, but the rest I did. They have specials each day and the menu items that you can choose from alternate. They have a swimming pool, they give you a calendar of activities every month, and you can pick and choose from those."

"We have nothing but good things to say about this Facility.The rooms were very bright and cheery, as well as very clean.The food menu had quite a variety as well. That means a lot toa person when you are away from home for so long. My husband wasthere for about six weeks.The personal care was amazing as well. My husband stated any timehe rang his call bell they would be asap. They always kept himvery clean and well shaved and this has always been very important tomy husband.The Rehab Dept was great as well. They took their time with him and madesure that he never over did the exercise routine. They really had a greatactivities Agenda there as well. My husband got to play cards as well as Bingoto keep him occupied,which is great because he never has been one to watch a lot of television.He said the food there was very good most of the time. lol.I found them to be very polite and gentle to Family members as well.I think we had an overall good experience at Timberidge Heath and Rehab.Thanks to everyone there! "I'm in Pine Run Estates in Ocala. I needed somewhere to live, and it came up so I moved in April. It's very quiet and nice with no one to worry you and no dogs calling when people walk by. It's independent living, and the staff here is great. I cook my own food. They have a lot of activities here like swimming and tennis. They have a gym and salon. It's close to everything and stores."

"I toured On Top of the World Communities. It's a gated community, and it's for people 55 years of age and older. They have their own amenities like pools, golf courses, and a couple of restaurants right inside the community itself. It's very nice. It's immaculate. They do their own maintenance, so they take care of their own lawn service, and they sweep street sidewalks. The food is good. I would compare it to any restaurant. They have a program which is like a renewable education where they'll teach courses for a small fee on all kinds of photography, stamp collecting, model railroading, etc. Periodically, they will have trips going to like major sport events and stuff like that. I would give the staff the top rating."

"My husband moved into Bridgewater Park. I chose them for the distance from my house. They were close. A newer facility meant an upgrade on their equipment and their cleanliness. I also like the fact that they had single, private bedrooms. The food is not gourmet, but edible. He had a vegetable today. I tasted it, it was pretty good. His room is a standard room, with a single bed, a nice large bath with a shower, a TV, and a dresser, so it's fine. They had individual little dining areas instead of a big cafeteria. If you wanted to go out of your room they had nice table settings and places to sit that was very home-like. They do the laundry. I give them a four. I wouldn't go five. As with everyone, I believe they're all understaffed and sometimes the shifts are not communicating too well. I leave a message with one shift and the next day nobody knows anything about it. Like, what he wants to eat, or like he should have a protein drink with as well because he's not eating and not everybody knows that. So it seems like they should. So I would say that would be their downfall, and they are short-staffed."
