Assisted Living Communities in Dunnellon, FL

"We toured Brentwood at Fore Ranch. We visited the assisted living facility. They discussed memory care, too, but we went for the assisted care. They were exceptional. The staff was very helpful. She gave me the information that I requested. We had a complete tour, and we were able to meet some of the staff and also some of the residents. We were welcome to have lunch sometime if we wanted to. She was exceptional. She was very good. The facilities were excellent. The room seemed a little bigger than some of the other areas. All of my mom's furniture would fit in nicely."

"I walked in the facility and the staff were all very friendly asked if they could help, told me to please pardon the remodel, the facility is old, but they have new hard wood floor in place and are still working on it. The lunch was wonderful, and staff did say everything is made fresh, had a wonderful taste to it. The activity area is small but the residents said they enjoy all the things they do here. I will be placing my family member here, it has a home like feel and everyone is very welcoming."

"Hawthorne Inn of Ocala was an average facility, but the interaction I saw between the residents was excellent. They were interactive. It's good. We were in the dining area because it was around lunchtime, and Dad got to see the interaction of people there and was concerned about the language barrier. Most of them were only English speaking, and he's a Spanish-speaking 99%, He wanted to make sure that the location had some bilingual people or people who spoke his language so he could interact with them properly. We visited the three types of room sizes. They were adequate. The room size, for our standards for one person, was kind of in the middle range. It wasn't that big. The hallways were clean. Everything's OK. We went through a library area where the residents got to pick books and read. They had somewhat of a selection. It wasn't a huge selection. Then we stepped outside. In our opinion, the outside was not an appropriate interaction for outdoor activities because there was none, other than a small porch with a couple of seatings. You just kind of sit there and maybe bask in the sun, and that's about it. My dad is more of the outdoorsy type that he would like interactions with a garden or growing tomatoes, or there are animals in the facilities, or just basically gazing and seeing what's going on in there to kind of keep his mind occupied. I personally liked the wood floors. That made it a nice, very homey, and warm feeling. The staff was friendly. All the spaces that I visited were clean. I got a peek at their activity room or craft room where they were doing some painting or something like that, and it was small because this looks like a smaller facility than the other one we visited. I saw their menu and they had a variation of items."

"I went to look at Highland Place. The people are friendly. Even the people that live there now are very friendly. It's a convenient place for my mother and her friends if they want to visit. It's close to her house. If a family wants, they can stay in her house and visit her. She loved the food. She's been there for lunch a couple of times, and the food has been fabulous. The cleanliness is fabulous. Every room I saw this nice and spotless. They have a TV and movies."

"I toured Camelot Chateau Assisted Living. It's very nice. They're very nice people and very courteous. My husband's grandmother was there before she passed. I toured a little apartment. It looked clean. It looks like it has all the necessities for a person that wants to live there. It's very nice. It had a bathroom, but it didn't have a kitchen. I think they have a salon. The dining room was large and very nice. They had someone there from Oak-Griner Church that were singing in the dining room, which was wonderful. It's very neat. It looks like a little park. It's great. My husband's grandmother was there. I would recommend it."

"I went to look at Brookdale Chambrel Pinecastle. It was a short distance from me, and I liked it. It was on my top three lists. It was very spacious. It met all the criteria. They have on-site nursing. They offered assistance if my father needed a ride or to get to his appointments. He has his independence on top of having nursing care. They had plenty of activities. The dining room looks nice. The staff seemed pleasant and helpful. As far as the care goes, they offered to get things done, like the laundry and taking the trash out. They gave me a little dessert thing when I left, and it was good. They had a game room and a community room for your family."

"We visited Brookdale Paddock Hills and it was very nice. The facility was very comfortable, spacious, and clean and that's one thing we are looking for. The cost was a little higher. The staff was very good, clean, and polite. They were good people. The meal was excellent."

"My husband moved into The Windsor of Ocala. They've got so much going on every day. Different things, like they were playing upbeat music. And then they move their hands and their feet keeping time with the music, and they have different memory games. Like, they'll go through the alphabet with A and everybody thinks of every word they can think of that starts with the letter A, just different memory games. Also, ball games involving the muscles. The facility is very clean and they keep things up. You don't have to wait for things to be fixed or anything if something happens. They come in and clean all the rooms and everything in the common room every day. The food is very good and very nourishing. They get their range of vegetables, fruit, and everything. They get to snack in between breakfast and lunch. They have what's called snack and hydration. So they also give them a drink, a glass of water, a snack, and then again in the afternoon. In memory care, a lot of those people don't think to say, I need something to drink or water."

"Hampton Manor at Deerwood is a very nice home. I like it here. I moved here because my wife is deceased, so I couldn't take care of the house and myself, but I have been here for 18 months now. The food is incredible. They have meal after meal after meal, and they're good. It's like you have a catered meal, and it's so good. The staff is great, especially the medical staff. They are very, very good. I don't take part in activities because I'm still fairly active. I create my own activities, but listening to people who do them here, I think they're very good. There's bingo for the bingo fans. There are activities for people who want to be active. It is a very clean and very friendly community. It's the feeling you get when you come in here. I'm pretty much a private person, so people generally leave me alone, so that's very nice."

"My aunt moved to Sunflower Springs at Homosassa and it was great. The staff was great, they did a wonderful job with her, and they helped us almost babysit her until we got everything ready. They were just wonderful. She has her own room with a refrigerator, microwave, sink, and like a little sunroom where she can go out of the room. They also had a happy hour at 3:00, which helped a lot. It was painted yellow so it was really bright, and all the staff was so cheerful and the place smelled good. The rooms were nice, they had a big courtyard, and all the residents seemed to really enjoy it. They were really helpful to us, they went right out and talked to our aunt. We visited several places, but we were just more in tune with this one than with any of the other ones. She has just one big room. They also had a one-bedroom but we didn't choose that. Her room has her bed, dresser, a small seat, recliner, big TV, and a shelf with her pictures and things on it. It has a refrigerator and big storage in the pantry, a microwave, cabinets, and a sink, and there's a walk-in closet. It is wonderful, its got a good-sized bathroom, and it has everything that we were looking for. The staff members were just so great, they've been really taking really good care of her. Ashley and Carly, they are the executives, and they were also really great and helped a lot. I haven't eaten there but they were having a celebration that day we toured, and they gave my aunt a crab cake, which looked great, and she said it was really good. They have bingo, movie nights, they have exercise classes, a big library, music, and ice cream socials. It was just a full day if they want to partake in it."

"They make it a point of getting to know you and your loved one and their needs. Although our dad was in for a very brief period we knew we had chosen the right place. We were able to sample the food and explore the entire facility. Food was good and the staff were never without a friendly greeting. Thank you to everyone for caring for our dad. Much appreciation."

"My husband will move into A Banyan Residence - The Villages. It's fantastic. It's beautiful. This place has lots of activities and things for him to do. The staff who gave the tour was excellent. Their dining program and dining area were excellent. They have an ice cream shop. People are always on staff. The rooms are nice and clean, and very well kept."

"I visited Highpoint at Stonecrest. They have a swimming pool, and it's beautiful and new. I liked everything that I saw. The whole facility is a five plus. The staff was wonderful, very friendly, and very informative. Everything about it was professional. I did see the dining room. It's like a restaurant. The cleanliness was superior. We went in the lobby, which was very well organized, clean, and well maintained. There's plenty of seating. They had a snack bar in there. It's like a hotel lobby. To me it was superior. The only drawback I saw was that the cost to stay there was too expensive from what I can afford."
