"Eastbrook Gardens was a facility for dementia and it is an okay facility. They advised me not to come for a couple of weeks and give him time to adjust, but in the meantime he fell, had a brain bleed, and died. I met him the first day and had lunch with him. They specialize in dementia and a lot of the people looked very happy, so I guess they’re doing a good job. It was kind of homey; it was not real fancy or contemporary, and it seemed that they had good programs to keep him busy. I like the fact that if he didn’t like what they were serving, he could request a hamburger, a hotdog, or a sandwich. The food was good and the nursing staff seems good. The nicest part about it was had he lived a long time, he would have had hospice there too. The communication about the medical care -- as I was trying to get him some psychiatric care -- was difficult; I just couldn’t make any headway with getting answers and I think they need to improve on that area. "

"My step-mom has been at the Palms for two weeks now, and she has experienced enough "situations" to allowing me to provide a valid review. First I should tell you that you can't judge a book by it's cover, because while the outside appearance has deferred maintenance, every area of the staff and care are OUTSTANDING. Before I go further, please note that the facility has recently been purchased, and they are working diligently to update and correct any existing physical appearance deficiencies you may notice, and an Activities Director is in the works. Personally I wouldn't have stepped inside, had I not had an appointment. I am SO glad I didn't let the outward appearance stop me. The first person to greet me was Alex, who is beyond attentive and remembered my name when I returned later that day. Kim is the Director, and I can't begin to tell you how caring and "down to earth" she is. Extremely helpful and knowledgeable about the issues we all face when researching a facility, she put me immediately at ease. After reviewing a number of facilities, I didn't hesitate to place my step-mom here. Knowing that they handle all levels of care (including end of life), I was comfortable knowing this would be the last move for her. Every issue noted from the most minor detail, was rectified immediately. My step-mom constantly complained about the food at the last high-priced nationally known facility, but here she does nothing but rave. Wanting her to have at least one "friend", Kim has taken steps to adjust seating arrangements to ensure that she finds someone to connect with. After receiving a call from my step-mom at 6:30 this morning stating she was in pain, I knew that this would be the real "test", as to how quickly her needs were attended. She pushed the button in her room just prior to calling me and I also went ahead and called the front desk, utilizing the emergency option. I was so anxious placing the call, that I failed to leave my name or number, as I jumped into my car to race to her. A few minutes later I received a phone call giving me an update. When I arrived my step-mom told me that they responded immediately to the button, and call; checking in on her constantly. What a relief! On staff doctors, pharmacy deliveries and ALL INCLUSIVE services (no more a la carte add-ons), make the price very reasonable. Assistance in the steps to apply for medicaid, knowledge about VA benefits and just an overall attitude that everything will be okay, puts The Palms of Longwood miles above the rest. Again, it's the Staff that is the most important when caring for the elderly. As Kim likes to say, this is your parent's new "home", and the staff just work there. "

"Brookdale Wekiwa Springs is nice but a little pricey for my brother's situation. It is very nice. You come into the lobby, and there is a dining room off to the right, a nice looking library, and a television area. The staff that I talked to all seem to be good. It is really the only place I looked at, but I thought the rooms were nice, clean, and well cared for. The staff that I talked to seemed competent and caring. It has a memory center with it so that if a person needed that sort of care like Dementia or Alzheimer's, they can transition and be in the same place. "

"Emeritus was very good and I was happy with them. The staff was excellent. There were some activities going on with the residents. They brought me into the rooms and they were very nice. The dining room was very nice but I did not eat there. "

"We came across Emeritus at Oviedo from Caring.com. My first impression of it was that it was a very relaxed community. It was homey but it's an institution. I like this facility. The people were very kind. I thought the staff was very attentive. The one who showed us around spent a lot of time with us; she was great. They were very willing to help me figure out the finances to get my mother in, which I had not seen anywhere else. They did have a model room to show, which was really fair. However, they did show us a little lady's apartment and it was adorable, so it made it a more personal presentation. That was quite nice. The dining room was nice and very big. It was kind of worn-looking though. "

"I like the arrangement of the dining area. It’s very much like a restaurant setting. You have multiple choices with regards to their food and I thought that was nice. They have numerous kinds of activities once a month, they have people who come in to entertain them as well. It's really nice. I definitely was able to check out the menu and they have a good assortment of food. They also kind of accommodate your likes and dislikes with regards to the food. The room is quite spacious. The staff looked like they had adequate staff. The people are very friendly and they greet everybody. It captivated me from the minute I walk in. "

"We placed my father-in-law into Brookdale Conway. We like it. Everyone is very nice. It’s clean. The rooms are really nice. My father-in-law has a private room. He gets a choice of what he wants for dinner and lunch. He gets a choice of menu. Everyone has been really nice. They have different activities, but I’m not really up to date on all of them. They have a movie room and an activity room, and they have a lobby where they serve chocolate chip cookies everyday or every other day. They have a man that comes in and plays the piano. They do have different people that come in and entertain them. The room is spacious and clean. It has a nice bathroom. They made it very convenient for them with the handles in the shower. It was made for an older person, and they made it more secure. It is really handicap-accessible. "

"I went to Florida Golden Adult Care yesterday and I like it. The home was very clean and very clean smelling. It was a spacious home. The caretakers seemed very nice. They had a large living room with a big TV for the patients, and they had an outdoor patio and a big yard in the back, which was nice. The room they showed me was just a small bedroom with two twin beds, so it was for two patients. They had a TV though. It's a very nice home."

"My mom is in The Watermark at Vistawilla. The experience has been good, but I think they lacked a little bit in the activities department, for memory care specifically. I wish they did more activities, but ever since COVID happened it's been slow there, but otherwise I feel like my mom is really well cared for there, and they really like her. Her apartment is great, very spacious, and the staff there is great too, but they have a lot of turnover. The food is good too, they serve pretty good food, and my mom seems to like it. Structurally it's a very pretty, very comfortable place, with a large, open area for the residents to mingle, and where they can all be together."

"Madison at Ocoee was really nice, and we would've considered that one if it wasn't for the 30-minute drive. Our tour there was very good and positive. The staff was very professional and very good. The facility was very nice. We thought that would have been the one if there was an opening there. The one that we chose was like five minutes from our house. The room was very nice. Everything was very acceptable. Everything was to our liking. I think it's a great setting. The rooms were nice. The people were super professional, and we would recommend it."
