We appreciate the kind words about our community and staff. We pride ourselves on keeping our residents active and engaged. Parking is a challenge that we face daily, but we always make our residents a top priority and have several spots reserved in the front for potential residents. Most of our residents do not have vehicles but we accommodate the families by allowing them to pick up and drop off our residents at the front. We do a minimal increase with our rates yearly. I am not sure when you visited, but it may have been prior to the yearly increase and then after the yearly increase. I am not sure if you found a place for your mom but I would encourage you to come and visit us again. I would be happy to meet with you personally.
Sincerely, Beverly Skaggs Executive Director

Hi Stephanie, we're so sorry your visit was during our construction! We've finished most of our renovations, and new furnishings are on their way. It really looks beautiful, and we would love for you to come back if you're still interested. And while aesthetics are certainly important, the true value in what we offer is the time, attention and care we provide to our residents. It won't be long before the “pardon our dust” signs are gone and the physical attributes of our community match the loving care and compassion we deliver to our residents and their family members, each and every day.

What programs or activities does Grand Villa of Altamonte Springs offer to keep residents engaged? How does the staff engage residents' long-term memories?
All of the programs and activities in the Memory Care Neighborhood are designed specifically for people with memory impairment and occur throughout the day and evening. Whether it’s structured programming - like art, dance, singing or memory games - or daily routine activities like folding laundry, setting the table or gardening – families can simply join in or even volunteer to organize and lead them. Family members with special skills and talents are especially invited to participate in activities centered around these specialties.
Who assesses residents' health and cognitive functioning? How often is that assessment repeated?
Because families know their loved ones the best, we work closely together to determine the level of care and assistance that they require and prefer. As you know, we begin with an Entrance Evaluation. Families help us understand the resident’s personality and background before memory impairment set in. We discuss the person’s childhood, education, adulthood, work life, family life, social life, hobbies and interests. Families also help us understand how things changed – their new routines, likes and dislikes, interests and hobbies, what makes them happy and what irritates them. This invaluable information, combined with the evaluation of the resident’s needs, allows us to develop customized services and care.
