I live in a senior community called The Meetinghouse At Collins Cove, but the rent goes up every year, and the rent went up twice this year, and I cannot afford it. The toilets are for kindergartners. They are very low. The seniors sitting down on the toilet are not going to be able to get up because the toilets are too low. The staff members are not concerned about the seniors. They don't explain things in depth to you. They rush us through the lease and don't give us a chance to read it or explain each portion of the lease to us. They just say, "Sign here, sign here, sign here." After you signed everything, you didn't know what you had signed, and the next month, they raised your rent. There is no explanation why the rent is raised. The kitchen is extremely small. It doesn't have a lot of cabinets. The flooring is horrible. It's not a great place for a senior to live. If you're paying $1296 for a two-bedroom, that's not affordable if you are only getting $1300 from Social Security. They also say there is nothing they can do about it. They also don't have anybody to assist you with the trash. We have to pay for somebody to come by and help us get the trash out. They have a few activities, though.

I'm happy to be here at The Meetinghouse at Collins Cove. Everything is fine. I prepare my own meals. The staff in the office are very helpful and polite. They answer my questions to the best of their ability. There's a swimming pool and a sauna. There are activities in the community room occasionally. The upkeep is excellent and the prices are comparable.
