She wanted a more independent living place and she got that feeling there. She got a beautiful one-bedroom, and it's very roomy. There's a lot of space and a lot of storage. She's got a little balcony and outdoor space. There are a lot of activities. We had lunch there and the food was delicious. It's always clean and she's very happy there."

"In Grand Living at Tamaya, if you move into independent living and then something happens and you need assisted living, you don't have to move out of your apartment. They would just bring the services to you because it's all under one roof, all under one building. There was a nurse practitioner on staff that's there every day, all day, and on call at other times. It was like a 3 or 4-story building, and on each floor, there was a nurse's station with a nurse there. It was not like a hospital setting and it didn't look like that, but there was just somebody on each floor. So, if for some reason you needed some kind of assistance, someone would be right there. And then they can help you out or call additional assistance or the nurse or doctors. It was a fairly new place but it had kind of the feel of living in a big hotel. They did have a courtyard, and a lot of the apartments had an outside balcony. They had an art center, and they also had a hairdresser."

"My husband will move into Fountains at Mill Cove. We liked it because it was unlike a regular nursing home, where everyone was in a bed and not functioning. It's more oriented toward getting people out and doing things. They have a lot of activities. I was reading the brochure they gave me this morning, and there's always something going on. There are also bus trip activities and other things you can participate in. It's very clean. I'm looking at a studio for my husband. I guess they call it a dementia studio or something. You can put their furniture, pictures, and stuff on the wall, making it more like a home for the people who are away. They have a little refrigerator, microwave, and sink so they can have snacks. All the meals are down in the dining rooms, and there's one large dining room and two or three small ones scattered throughout the complex. So, they encourage people to get out and do things instead of just sitting in a room or bed. The person who took us around was very, very helpful and nice. I arrived early because I had three on my list and went to the wrong one first. She wasn't that busy, so she took me early instead of having to come back. She was very personal and educated you very well on the complex. I've been looking over their menu, and it looks pretty impressive. I think you could order something you want that you like, and they'll fix it."

"My mom will be moving into Canterfield of Clay County. The physical appearance is very nice, clean, and new. They're doing a lot of construction, I guess behind it, adding on. The staff was very informative, very clever, and knew a lot of what was going on. She gave us a good tour and gave us a lot of information. They have an outdoor place where you can play golf. They have like the Wii bowling and activities where you can do crafts and stuff like that. They have a person that does that. They also have happy hour twice a week. The rooms were nice. They had nice big closets and a lot of space. My mom is planning on getting a one-bedroom. But even the studios are nice sizes and clean."

"I have lived in Glenmoor for over nine years. It is a beautiful facility and is well run. It is a fun place to live with lots of activities. There is transportation available. It is in the World Golf Village and surrounded by nice communities with low traffic levels. The health center is one of the best in Florida. "

"It was a beautiful place. I liked it. My friend would have had memory care there. I would love it for myself. The place was clean. The people that worked there were nice, pleasant, polite and willing to answer every question. They brought me around, and it was nice. The only thing was there were only very few in memory care and it was locked up. I don't know what my friend would do in there. They have a beautiful dining room for them in there, too. The rooms were beautiful and roomy. They have large bathrooms and closets. You could bring your own furniture if you want and your own items and decorations. I saw people decorating their rooms. The staff was very polite. I asked them questions. They told me everything I wanted to know. They're nice and friendly."

"Allegro was nice, but I don't think they have that much flexibility with the food service. The main thing that made me steer away from them was when I asked if anyone was sitting by the door 24/7. They said, "Oh, no. Any resident can just walk out the front door at any time." I asked, "With all these people who are starting to get dementia?" She goes, "Oh, that would be a problem if your mom has anything like that." They don't offer memory care if it gets to that point later. Their amenities and activities are comparable to the community that we chose. This place is certainly nice. They have a minimum room. It was a studio with a little kitchenette, a big bathroom, and a closet. It was just an open room. They have lots of physical activities, entertainment type activities, a little exercise area, salon, library, and so on. I didn't think the lady that showed us around was very welcoming. There was no invite to try their food or spend the afternoon or anything like that. The building itself was nice, new, and up-to-date."

"I live in Starling at Nocatee Independent Living. I love the flower arrangements in the rooms, the layout of the facility, and the pool. I like everything about it. They have putting championship tournaments, bowling, music, art, and everything you would want. It is excellent."

"I went to Vicar's Landing. It is very pleasing, very clean, and very friendly. The business end was very clean. For me, it is just all-around better than any of the other places I visited. The employees were excellent. They're very business-like, interested, and friendly. The dining area appeared to be very nice. They have everything that you would need. They have lounges and a small bar, which I thought were nice; you could go there if you get bored. They have parties, a swimming pool, and walkways. The grounds are very nice. I only dealt with two or three staff members, but they were extremely qualified and very informative. I was impressed with them. Everything seemed to be very clean, very nice, and up to my standards. It was probably one of the better and more attractive places."

"Our children live in the Julington Creek area, and they recommended that we consider Westminister Woods. On our first visit we were impressed by the beautiful appearance of the community. A lot of places we considered where just a bunch of buildings. Here, we’re on the river, with all the magnificent trees. It's a spacious campus that is very convenient to shopping, restaurants and our family. We we were going to downsize to a smaller home with a plan to move into a facility like this when we about 80. After visiting the campus we decided to not put ourselves through the hassle of an extra move. We both liked everything about Westminster Woods so we decided to not wait and just do it now! One of the main attractions was that no matter what happens to us, we're taken care of. Our children don't have to worry about anything. We took care of everything on our own terms. You plan for the future, but you never know what tomorrow's going to bring. We're fortunate to be healthy now, and we don't NEED to be here. We WANT to be here. We can do as much or as little as we want. This is a perfect place to enjoy your early retirement years. "
