"HarborChase of Mandarin is beautiful and highly recommended to anybody. My mom moved in August and is staying in independent living. The staff and services are excellent. My mom enjoys bingo, cards, and exercise classes. It's absolutely wonderful, clean, and impressive. It's like a classy cruise ship. The food is wonderful and she doesn't like what they're having on the menu, they'll cook whatever she wants. They have a chef right on staff. The price is a little bit more but you get a lot more."

"Palagio Senior Living was an absolutely spectacular place. They seem to have a lot of amenities that my mother would be interested in. There's a bar upstairs, they have a beautiful outdoor pavilion, and the rooms are gorgeously appointed. You can truly make it your home. The rooms are absolutely stunning, and I could easily see Mom making it her home. I only met a couple of people; they were extremely friendly, very, very helpful, and very informed and informative. The dining area seemed very nice. As far as the little campus is concerned, they have absolutely beautiful grounds. I love the fact that it had an area for pets."

"I toured Seagrass Village of Fleming Island. I was not well impressed. They had the independent living, which is what I'm looking for, and that was down on the first floor. The staff showed me a room, and to me, it was very small. I have an apartment now, and that was half my size. It was nice, but it just wasn't for me. I did speak with some of the tenants there, and they were very happy with it. I think with the cost of everything together, it was a little bit more than I was wanting to pay, but for everything that you get... I still drive, but they do have transportation, and I believe a lot of people have been satisfied with it. They had a pool, they had aerobics, because that's really good for us folks. They had somebody come once a month, and I think that's something that's excellent. That's something that I would be looking for, because that's about the only way that we can get a good workout without getting any injuries. The staff was very professional, very lively, she did a great job showing, but it just wasn't what I was looking for."

"I had a very good tour at Canterfield of Clay County. The tour guide was very helpful and very nice. The rooms were very adequate. The place seemed to be in very good condition. It seemed like everyone was well-adjusted. They were having social interactions. I was not able to try the food, but I did ask how this tour guide liked it and she said she did."

" I have been a resident here for 7 years, 221 apts, also part time desk worker as we are a gated community, with many care givers in and out daily, nurses, Dr's, a mobile Vet also, many visitors, we have an excellent staff, very caring people, in my opinion the best way for seniors to live in Fl. very inexpensive, on busline, we also have our own private bus for trips, gated parking lots, thank you Rink Tillett "

"Riverside Presbyterian was close to where I live. The price is good, the food is good, and the rooms are big. The staff was fantastic and the care seems wonderful. "

"Hurley Manor is a nice place. They are very small, 400 sq. ft. apartments and they have a lot of activities and things like that. They are very nice, but it would be something I would have to arrange to go into because there is no place else. I think they have an inside pool, and they do have amenities as far as a gym and recreational areas. They have got about a year's waiting list, and it's the only place in Jacksonville that does not cost a fortune. My friends that live there really like it, and the surroundings are beautiful. "

"I toured Discovery Village at Deerwood. I like the options as far as the meals. I thought the atmosphere was good or better than the other places that I visited. All of them were very accommodating and friendly. I felt that this would offer more value for your money. The food was good. The fitness program was good. The activity seemed to be excellent. They had a director for the activities. The facility was new, very fresh, and clean."

"Inspirations at TownCenter is very nice, and the facility is new. The staff that took me on the tour was very nice and I was impressed by it. The apartments were very nice and more than adequate. They had a swimming pool, a banquet room, a bingo room, and an activity room. If I'm not mistaken, that is the one that had kind of a snack bar where you could have snacks. I thought that was impressive. The staff were excellent, and the tour guide was very good. I saw the dining area and I saw them eating the food in the dining room. I happened to be there around lunchtime. Everything looked good."

"I toured the independent living of The Coves At River Garden. Everything looked new. I believe all of the structures were brick. There was parking available at each unit. It was very attractive. I was in the lobby for a good while, and I got a chance to see people going back and forth to different activities. I saw the restaurant, and that was about it. In terms of upkeep and cleanliness, it was top-notch and very attractive. The staff who assisted me there was very helpful. They were top-notch."

"The Marcis Pointe has an absolutely gorgeous accommodation. It was built two years ago, so it's brand new and beautiful. My mom's apartment is very nice. "

"I only saw the independent living at Windsor Pointe of Jacksonville. It was pretty, it was personal, it was pleasant to look at, and the rooms were large enough. It was practically new, so it was beautiful. I saw some people playing a game around the pool, and I saw some people enjoying themselves inside one area. There were two areas (a fireplace area and a kitchen type area) that looked out over the pool and there were people there. I'm not sure what they were doing, but they were laughing and doing whatever they were doing in there. They seem to have everything you could hope for. I can't think of the specifics right now, but they seem to have a full calendar of activities. On the upper floor, they had a place for you to get your hair done, and they had a place where you could cook or have cooking activities like a community room. They had everything you could look for, and the pool was beautiful."
