I'm in Parkland. There are probably about 20 independent cottages. You get all your meals and all your yard care. You get housekeeping once a week. All your heat and all your utilities are free. You have a garage and a washer and a dryer. You get three meals a day. It is usually pretty good food. The people that work here are very friendly. They do have activities down in the main office area. They have exercise in the morning and they have groups that entertain for lunch. There are activities going on down there, but I just don't go down. There is a even place in the front yard where you can do your own flowerbeds if you want to. My cottage is 1200 square feet. I have two bathrooms, two bedrooms, a nice big front room, a fully equipped kitchenette, though I don't use it, and a tiny little dining area. The only thing that really bothers me is how slow their dining room services. Some days it is pretty fast and some days it is very long to give you lunch and that's the only thing I go down for. However, I would recommend Parkland very much. I enjoy it here. The staff is very friendly and helpful.

Parkland Village was very nice. Their cottages were separate from the dining facility. They do not provide transportation, so you should be mobile enough to be able to get to the dining facility on your own. My mom uses a walker, so it wouldn't suit her. In the winter time, it would also be very difficult. They did not provide any kind of room or meal service to the home unless the resident is ill. The little apartments were lovely though and the staff was very nice and friendly.
