"My grandmother has been at Marquis Newberg for quite some time. Any time I visited her there, I could see how much the staff cared for her and how much she cared for them. Everyone knows everyone's name and even though they are always busy, they have a smile for you. It is tough not being able to go in and hug her right now but I know that they are keeping her safe. They are always willing to assist with Facetime so we can stay in touch and see each other. They are setting up personal "window visits" to be able to meet outside behind a screen and am looking forward to doing that soon. Several times when visiting, I have had meals there and have nothing to complain about there (nor does my grandmother). I hear their hair dresser is coming back in and that certainly made my grandmother excited! Thank you to everyone at Marquis for doing such an amazing job. Since I cannot be there, I am glad it is you stepping in to be her surrogate family."

"I am in Avamere Court At Keizer and I am very happy. I've been here for eight and a half years. We have exercises, bingo, bean bag baseball, church services, Bible studies, and Bible videos on Saturdays. They provide 3 meals a day, housekeeping, and laundry facilities at no charge. They are careful about people that can't eat certain things, and there are always good choices available. We all have apartments with a kitchen, a living room, and a bedroom. There are no studio apartments here. We have a library, an activity room, an exercise room with bicycles and treadmills, and exercise equipment, a craft room, a beauty parlor, and a courtyard. Transportation is good, we have a van and a bus. We're a family here. We care for each other. If someone doesn't show up for a meal, we wonder where they are and check on them. It's a very friendly place. It's a very good community, and the staff cares for us."

"They ignore patients needs. Let them sit in wet and dirty diapers, lots of diaper rash and urinary tract infections. Hallway totally stinks of manure. Food is pathetic, how can someone get better with no proper nourishment. Not giving RX that was prescribed. There are a few good staff and lots of bad staff."

"Everything about Dallas Retirement Village is wonderful. They don't have balconies, but they have three levels of care, independent, assisted, and memory. It's very, very bright, too. I saw some of the apartments. They also have cottages. I was disappointed that they didn't have kitchens. What they did have for coffee and so forth in the morning was very minimal. They have a system where they have a certain allotment for food. However, they have all kinds of wonderful places. It's a newer building and everything is provided. They have a special chapel, activity rooms, and a sunroom if you want to go out and soak up the sun. It's all within the building. In Oregon, with long periods of rainy weather, it's nice. You're able to get lots of light within the building."

"The initial relocation was somewhat difficult, due in part to the need of relocating to a new city and re-establishing a local primary care doctor and vascular specialist to further oversee her care. On the surface, the facility seemed a bit dated. Because of the circumstances, it was important that my mother have Internet access to help stay in touch with the rest of her family and the outside world, and the lack of Wi-Fi access was disappointing, but we were able to remedy this with the purchase of a cellular Internet service. While my mom was ready to be released from the hospital and begin physical therapy, her leg was not completely healed, and the wound vac and dressing change needed to be changed frequently. There was a fairly thorough intake and assessment by one of the nurses, who turned out to be one the best during my mom's entire stay, a lifesaver I would argue. I was present during the first several dressing changes though and did not receive a lot of confidence that some of the nursing staff had a lot of experience with wound care, or as much concern as they should have had when it began to take a turn for the worse. I would like to have seen more care and due diligence from some of the staff in this area, especially from the staff doctor, who never once looked at her wound with the dressings removed. He could have admitted her to the hospital a week sooner. By the time we were able to see the new local vascular doctor, the wound had degraded to the point that she was immediately admitted to the Salem hospital for surgery to re-open the site, clean it, and perform additional measures to help it heal, which resulted in a 10 day additional stay in the hospital. (The lesson here is know and trust your primary care doctor, do not depend on the house physician.)Upon her return and with better direction from the vascular doctor, things did improve over time with her wound care. The physical therapists were absolutely fantastic: in three months they brought her from barely able to stand to able to transfer, use her walker, and use the facilities by herself, enabling her to transition home. The staff person responsible for helping to schedule rides to doctor appointments with Cherry Left was very helpful and reliable. One of the swing shift nurses really made all of the difference in her overall health and wound care, and the Director assisted us a lot with our relocation and re-establishment after she left. My mom's biggest complaint was with the food; since she was on a diabetic, low-sodium diet, the meals became extremely repetitive. Most of the time they just removed certain items from the plate instead of replacing them with diet-friendly alternatives, leaving her hungry and me concerned about the adequacy of her nutrition. I ended up bringing her healthier meals from outside most evenings for the last month or so of her stay.When a family member needs to stay in a facility like this, or a hospital for that matter, it is critical, in my opinion, that the person have an advocate who helps oversee the person's care and ensures continuity and accountability across all of the different shift changes. It seems that mistakes are made no matter where you go, and every new caregiver needs to learn more about the patient than what can be captured on a chart. That being said, I will say that many of the nursing staff, CNAs, the Director, and especially the physical therapists worked very hard to bring my mother back from an extremely difficult situation, one that many in her situation do not come back from. Their generally warm and friendly demeanor, coupled with my mom's determination to recover, made it possible for her to return home. "

"My father-in-law lived at Tierra Rose for his last few years of life. He had been in several other nursing homes in the Salem area, and Tierra Rose was by far a cut above the others he had been in. The staff was awesome, they really cared about the health and welfare of the people living there. Food is always an issue, at every nursing home, and for my father-in-law, this was no different, but I stopped in and ate with him on several occasions and I found the food to be good every time I ate there. The facility is located just a few block east of Lancaster Dr., so we found it to be very easy to access and they have done a really nice job to make the common areas and grounds of the facility very inviting. A suggestion to anyone reading this review, if you are placing a loved one in any facility, visit regularly and at different times of day, this is the best way to know how things are and how your loved one is really treated/taken care of. We visited a lot and at all hours. We were amazed at how well my father-in-law was cared for (he was a complicated fella very set in his own ways). He was always clean, well groomed, and always had a happy experience to share about an interaction with the staff. He had his favorites, but everyone took great care of him. we will forever be grateful for the love and care her received while residing at Tierra Rose!"

"My mother was living here for three years.She was treated very well.They included her in small trips for fun and enjoyment.The staff was very attentive to her,her room was clean,she was happy there the last few years of her life.My brother and sister and myself had no complaints with her treatment. "Providence Benedictine Nursing Center is big. It's wonderful. It's a very good nursing home. When my husband got here, they gave him a shower, and he hadn't had one for a year. They didn't have the manpower to do it at the place we were at, so when they gave him a shower here, I was so excited. He's got a real shower and the people are just extra special about everything they do. I go home at night and know he's being cared for, not scared. So many things happened to him up at that other place. All in all, I'm just very happy to have him here. It's a Catholic area and we are Catholic. He loves it. They have a chapel, so he will be able to attend the masses once a week. There are buildings and huge parking lots all around it. You can tell Catholic nuns took care of it because it's in immaculate shape, but it's old. It's nice. They've got dining areas all over and people can come out to it and eat, if they want to watch TV or if they just want to come out of their rooms in their wheelchairs. It's just a beautiful place. Everybody is very kind and loving."

"My husband was in Providence Benedictine Nursing Center. I thought it was excellent. He's got excellent care, he liked it there. He had a stroke and they had worked with him in therapy and he was happy that I was happy. I would recommend this facility for anybody that's needing a nursing home. They're very caring, efficient, knowledgeable and skilled. My husband was real critical about most things, but he liked it there. "

"My experience with the Marquis Wilsonville has been very positive. All the people there are extremely respectful to each individual resident and to their family members. They try to engage each resident to an extent that is welcoming and responsive without being pushy. Family caregivers need to know that their loved ones are not in prison, nor should be. This is not the old days where those with dementia and/or motor skill challenges were misunderstood and rigidly confined. My experience with my husband who has an early onset degenerative brain disease, is that his quality of life is directly related to feeling like a whole person and treated as if he has some semblance of independence. The Marquis does a wonderful job ensuring this, while doing the best they can to look after his care. If people are looking for a 24-hour observation & nursing care facility, their loved one probably needs to be in a hospital or designated full-time nursing home (or hospice if end-of life is anticipated). There are no guarantees in life; the best this caregiver (me) can do is work to find a place that provides the best fit for my husband's nature and condition. It is not inexpensive. Neither is it an elder-care country club for those with unlimited resources, which may not even be suitable to the individual's personality. However, it is clearly the best local fit for our situation at this time. What the Marquis Wilsonville does, it does very well! I am very grateful for the respite for me, and the quality of non-obtrusive yet attentive care and sense of dignity they provide my husband. Thank you one and all! "

"I found upon entering the community that the staff all seemed to be happy in what they were doing, right down to the house keeper. I was met with open arms and, they were overly helpful. The building was very clean and very well maintained, not a bulb out or a different color. It looks like the staff keep close attention to detail making this place as much of a homelike (if not like a country club) environment. The food was excellent and not what I expected, was like an upscale restaurant. All the residents seemed to be so happy and very chatty with one another. This such a wonderful place for them to call home."

"My brother was transferred to Avamere Transitional Care from the hospital, and they seemed to be caring. My brother really likes it, and he seems to be doing a lot better and is really happy. They are taking good care of my brother; they always check in and ask if he needs anything. They are very friendly too. It’s kind of a secluded area, but it’s close to all kinds of shopping centers. Plus, my brother likes the food. "

"My husband is at Avamere Rehab. They do therapy over there for older people and injured people. It is a very nice place. The staff is very nice. They're very good. My husband likes the food. He does like the room, and he is in a room with a roommate, so he is quite happy there for the time being. "
