The Best Nursing Home Communities in Clackamas County, OR

"Overall, I was very impressed with the care provided by the staff at The Pearl. They were not only caring and attentive, but also very cordial. They treated visitors with the same hospitality given to the residents. My father in law was in Hospice, so he had many visitors (both from nearby and far away), and each and everyone was welcomed each visit. The facility provided a nice break room for the patients and visitors to spend time together outside of the patient's room. There was a fireplace and many activities for people of all ages. Staff members allowed an appropriate amount of privacy to each patient while still maintaining adequate levels of attention to patients needs. The facility also offered enclosed patio and sidewalk space for patients and guests to enjoy the outdoors. In fact one of my fondest memories is pushing my father in around outdoors and seeing the joy he felt at the opportunity to be outdoors. While this is my only experience with assisted living facilities, I cannot think of a negative thing to say about The Pearl, it more than exceeded my expectations. "

"The team at the Forum is amazing. Joy is very caring and the caregivers are very sweet. The rooms are large and the residents are busy doing crafts and things. Wouldn't choose anywhere else. They've been able to keep everyone safe during the pandemic."

"Marquis Tualatin is an older facility, but it's kept up very well. I was visiting a friend who is there, and she says the staff members are very, very good and very helpful. She requires quite a bit of care, and she is very happy with the facility. They have snacks available 24/7. They offer juice, cookies, and fruits. I had a diabetic episode while I was there, so I had to eat something, and immediately they brought me some juice and some cookies. They were very efficient."

"My sister was at Crestview for the month of May. The staff was wonderful. The CNA's were extremely kind and compassionate. My sister counts some of them as her dear friends. The nursing and doctor staff were wonderful. I loved the open door policy of the administrative staff. Whenever I needed to talk to someone they were available and worked to meet the needs of my sister and our family. We have been to other skilled nursing facilities and this was by far the best. "

"My mother is in West Hills Health and Rehabilitation. The staff is very attentive in what they have to do. If your loved one is towards the end of their lives, it's certainly a good place to be. The rooms are small, but adequate and clean. They try very hard with the activities to keep the senior population very active as much as they can. Most of the people at that age are really limited, so they do a lot of coloring and crafts. If the weather's nice, they take them outside and let them work in the garden. The staff couldn't be any more caring."

"My mother is in her 90's with a number of debilitating physical issues. She has been very well cared for at Friendship Care Center. The staff turnover is higher than optimal, but that is common in the industry. The staff is always attentive and kind. Mom's room is reasonably spacious, bright, and pleasant. The only criticism is the food. It is not awful, but it tends to be bland and overcooked. The staff is always willing to return a dish and bring special requests, so it is not a big problem. I have rated the activities as average, but my Mom does not participate so I can't really say much."

"My husband is at Avamere for rehab. It is new, beautiful, and well-staffed, but he doesn't like the food. They try to make food that everybody can eat, and most people there can't have salt, can't have sugar, can't have this, can't have that, so what you have left is tasteless; that is my husband's opinion. It is hard to regain your strength if you are not getting food that you will eat. My husband's been there 26 days and he's lost over 5 lbs, so that is not good. Otherwise, it is perfect. So I bring him snacks. He has got a drawer with some cookies that have some nutrition in and treats like that. It is a wonderful facility and for us it is four blocks from home; it's just little things I don't like. Like the food is small portions and not very tasty, and they don't have any physical therapy on Saturdays and Sundays. I think they need a staff that comes in on weekends because my husband is 85, and if he is going to get out of there and have any kind of life, he needs to have physical therapy seven days a week. "

"My mother is in Prestige Care and Rehabilitation of Reedwood. It's clean, nice, and the caretaker is real nice, and so is the nurse. There were more asian people there. The people are helpful. The room is OK. They had like two patients in one room."

"my dad has received the best care from some of the most dedicated people. They treated me as good as they treated my father. I would like to commend them for their dedication and professional attitude towards everyone of my family members and the other people recovering from miscellaneous illnesses. "Great Food and the employees here actually seem motivated to motivate those they care for; which is important for residents trying to regain their sense of self. Relative that was in here was recuperating from brain trauma and was afraid of both staff and residents for several weeks. They gradually won him over and he began to enjoy his stay immensely. They have a large community room that is in frequent use by those that stay here. The only negative I can think of happened when someone who was taking care of my relative stopped by to pick him up off the bed and move him to a separate bed. They made the move work, but they were attempting to show everyone how they should position themselves for such a move while they did it. Unfortunately, they forgot to bend their knees and keep their back straight. I was amazed they didn't wrench anything. Otherwise a great, positive spirit exists here. I was fortunate enough to visit around Hanukah time, a time where many families made a special effort to go visit those who stayed there. The food menu choices were much greater than we had expected, as well. "

"My dad is in Marquis Autumn Hills. The staff has been incredibly supportive and helpful with us through the process. The other thing that I really like to say about them is that it is a huge place, but everybody knows my dad by name. They do everything they can to keep it clean, which is great. They shampoo the carpet frequently. On one area that they are having a lot of issues, the end up taking the carpet out completely and putting up a nice laminated floor. The security is very good. However, my dad is a mechanical engineer and he can go out of anything -- he was able to go out of there twice -- but they always rectify the situation so it will not happen again. They are very responsive with that. The food is great, and dad has no complaints with the food. "

"I am currently a resident undergoing rehab here. It is very clean, does not smell, the aids and doctor and nurses are super nice, the food is good (a little to healthy) The rehab is 70 min. twice a day. I have improved a lot and may actually get out soon. I highly recommend this facility. "

"Trinity Mission Health & Rehabilitation is a very clean facility. My mother’s room is a little small; in fact, there are three people in her room. The staff seems OK. They play cards and had a Thanksgiving get-together for family members. They are having a Christmas open house with a family get-together on a different date where we can bring gifts and stuff. "

"My mother in law is a resident at Gracelon Terrace Nursing home. They are located at 10948 S.E. Boise in Portland, OR. They currently have around 80 residents. Each time my husband and I have gone there, there has been more than enough staff to handle our needs and our family members needs. They are fast to respond to any resident. Almost like a 6th sense, they just know when a resident needs something.The nursing home is located in a very quite and unassuming residential neighborhood right across the street from a city park. The outside of the nursing home is well kept, clean and parking is great. They have a small, quaint garden with lots of birdfeeders and bird baths and seasonal flowers. The place is fenced in and well secured for residents who have varying degrees of dementia.Inside, the place is well lit and clean smelling and no strange odors or even too much cleaning solution smell. The rooms are well lit with natural light, quite and private. While I've had mixed reviews of other nursing homes, Gracelon Terrace is one of the best nursing homes in terms of quality I've ever come to know. "
