"Elms Retirement Living Center was very nice. The people were very friendly. The price seemed to be alright. The room was pretty good. It was one of my possibilities. They have three meals a day. A couple of times a month, they have happy hour. The place is very nice because it is located in a nice small town. It is walking distance to stores."

"Hidden Lakes is what my wife chose because she felt comfortable and had a good feeling about it. They have 58 cottages, which is what we're interested in. The grounds, the lake, everything about it is very homey. The other thing we were looking for is indepedent living, and they are just that. Their maintenance level is higher than most places we saw. "

"We found Solista Salem by Cogir. It has all the amenities that we need, and it's cheaper than that other place where we were. We moved in last week. It's a fantastic place to be. We're independent living right now, but they have it set up so that if I need help to get my husband off the floor and stuff like that, they will come and help us. We have three meals a day. It's a much bigger place than the other one. The staff is very helpful. They're very senior-oriented. They have all kinds of things going on for the seniors. It's such a nice place. We have seen deer and squirrels. They say around Thanksgiving, there's a turkey that's wandering around here. It's closer to the hospitals, to the doctors, and everything. The staff members are really good and friendly. I dealt with the maintenance man a couple of times because I couldn't get the dishwasher going. He came right up, fixed it, and got it all going and everything for me, so that's nice. The housekeeper is Carly, and she is great, too. It's very clean. It's got a nice, clean dining room. We haven't gotten up there yet to eat, but of all the ones I looked at, this is the best. They have sock hops, bingo, and all kinds of activities going on. They have a little garden that people can work in. It's $2000 cheaper than the other place. It's in our budget, so it makes it very nice."

"We visited Mt. Angel Towers and decided that’s the place we would choose. It was in a beautiful setting. They had nice apartments. They had all the amenities that we were looking for. The staff was very courteous and friendly. Everybody seemed to be friendly there. They had all sorts of rooms from studio to two-bedroom. They also had two-bedroom deluxe which were larger than a regular two-bedroom. Maybe they could improve on updating the rooms in the apartments. Maybe they could add a little more color in the rooms. The facility was about 50 years old. They had a very nice lounge area for you to sit. They had a fireplace and the large auditorium where they hold events or church services. "

"I liked King City Senior Village a lot. They were friendly and helpful and the facility was very clean and bright. The food was excellent and it was just a great place. The grounds were very nice and they have nice activities. I happened to go back in when they were having a happy hour. So, they invited us to have happy hour and that was nice. We had lunch there and I loved it, but there was not very much of it, as far as the amount. Still, I was very impressed with the place."

"We toured Heron Pointe Senior Living. We liked everything about it, except that we couldn't afford it right away. They had a two-bedroom, two-bathroom ready for us to move into, but we couldn't swing the payment right then, and I did not want to go into one because it was for both of us. The facility was very nice and clean. We were going to get a cottage that was outside, and we liked it. It was in a small town, and we're used to small towns, so we liked that part too. The person who assisted us has called us once a year since we went in there to see if we were ready to go in or if they could help us."

"Creekside Village Retirement was very nice. It looked very homey and comfortable. The person who toured us were very nice and answered questions. The dining area was very nice, clean and comfortable. There were poker and card games going on there."

"MorningStar of Hillsboro was very nice, new, and shiny. The woman who did the intake was incredibly knowledgeable, but it was much more expensive, and there wasn't a good way to access the outside from the apartment with the dog. You didn't want to have to walk the dog all the way through the facility to get outside. Physically, it didn't work out. This facility was gorgeous. They even have a swimming pool inside. They have a library, a gym, and game rooms. It seems very well-maintained."

"We had a very positive experience here. The staff was very friendly and very informed. We saw an exercise class going on, a coffee station, a book club, and a gentleman who told us about a workshop going on. The food was nice. There were different options, and we enjoyed it. We thought the rooms had nice floor plans and lots of options. "

"Parkland Village was very nice. Their cottages were separate from the dining facility. They do not provide transportation, so you should be mobile enough to be able to get to the dining facility on your own. My mom uses a walker, so it wouldn't suit her. In the winter time, it would also be very difficult. They did not provide any kind of room or meal service to the home unless the resident is ill. The little apartments were lovely though and the staff was very nice and friendly."

"I am satisfied by the way their caregivers are performing their service. I feel that they are both a good match for my mom. There's a couple of them and Rock of ages right away found these caregivers for my her. It's nice that there's no waiting period. Mom is comfortbale with them and I am comfortable with them. They're doing a fine job now. They are friendly and mom has no complaints about it. She is very satisfied. They're both very responsive to mom's needs and I think they're great! During the time that the agency were evaluating mom's needs, they were accommodating and answered all of our questions. They were not rushing and they make sure they understand our needs before they send out people. "

"Amenities described when I moved in were not always as described. The heating and ac were largely out of order for months, with box fans and portable heaters available on request. Meals are nutritionally subpar, largely starchy with limited vegetables and whole grains, a problem as I am a diabetic. Staff turnover has been high. The last independent living manager has not been replaced, the duties have been assigned to someone at the adjacent memory care unit. This has limited our access to activities and outings to tagging along when space is available at the sister assisted living facility."

"I lived in the above community for seven years and was a 24/7 caregiver for my wife for three of those years. The facility is well run with a Health Center for those who need semi-skilled care and many opportunites for enjoyable activities. However the initial cost of an entrace fee (non-returnable) and the monthly costs continue to increase. It seemed wise for me to move out as my finances were being used up more rapidly than was feasable even though it meant I would loose the $150,000 entrance fee. "

"Willamette is a very nice facility and it's in a quiet location. They met my needs. The staff I met there there were very nice and helpful, they answered all of my questions and I was satisfied with that. The grounds were wonderful and they have a lot going for them. The apartments are comparable to those I've seen from other places."
