"I had an in-person tour of Creekside Village Retirement. All the staff that I met were very friendly and very helpful. The people there were very gracious and welcoming as well. The grounds are lovely, with a nice walking path around the building. The yard was well kept up. The rooms have all been updated and are kept updated regularly. What we liked about the rooms was that they were large with a lot of storage. They had cooking facilities in the room, like a range top and a microwave, which we liked. There were four kitchens around the building for community use, so there were places to bake as well. They have a common dining area, and they provide two meals per day. They had soda, which none of the other places had. It was cafeteria-style dining, and the food was very good. We liked that the meal time was two hours rather than a one hour like most places, so it was more flexible. There was always coffee, fruit, juices, and sodas available all day and night. They have exercises during the week. They have Tai chi and an activity director. They have one trip a week to somewhere in the community, a large library, a crafts room, and more social rooms and spaces than in other places we looked. They also had an art gallery for their occupants' work, which was nice."

"We are very happy with them. It is a very nice and beautiful facility and beautiful. The rooms are very nice too as well as the grounds. The food is good. It’s a very nice neighborhood. It’s on the edge of town out in the countryside. There are a lot of different activities. The staff is good. We are very satisfied."

"I toured MorningStar of Hillsboro. It's so nice. I had lunch there, and it was great. The staff was nice. At times, I had two people helping me."

"Rock Creek is very nice. They were very plain and simple -- not a lot of bells and whistles -- which is fine. It's very easy for a senior to be able to get around the facility without bumping into corners. It's an independent living only, and it's pretty much independent care. There wouldn't be any issue with wheelchairs getting through the door. They had a very nice menu, and they have home-cooked meals. The facility is very well-maintained, but it's a bit dated. However, they are going through now in updating the rooms, and I think once they get it done it's going to look pretty fancy. "

"We've lived in Elms for a year now, and we like it very much. It has a very comfortable, homey feeling, and we feel very safe. The food is good and has a nice variety. We have a nice apartment, a library, activities room, gym, craft room, and a theater. They have bingo, cards, movies, and socials. The staff is great and very aware of the residents and their needs. The people are great."

"Mount Angel Towers is just perfect for my sister. It has beautiful grounds with lots of flowers and trees, where she can walk around. It's really pretty, and it's not too far from here. It has a wonderful dining hall and places to sit. It's really comfortable. It's kind of like being at home. The rooms are nice. They're a decent size, and they're also beautiful. They have a laundry room. Some of the units on the ground have a patio, and people can have plants out there. Everybody is very friendly and helpful. My sister has made lots of friends already. The girls that help in the dining room are just really nice, too. It's a big building, and it's laid out very nicely. The landscaping is wonderful. They have an elevator, a library, and a game room. Their meals are very good. They are engaged toward people's appetites and how much they can eat (or should eat). They even have a salad bar. You can go out and take walks any time you want to. It's on a curved road. They planted blueberries on one side, and anybody could just pick them. Across the fence is a beautiful hopyard. It's really nice, and the price is reasonable."

"I moved into Somerset Lodge. It is a nice place and very comfortable. It's owned by the Seventh Day Adventist. So you get turkey ham, turkey sausage, turkey bacon, and stuff like that. You don't get shrimp. However they eat, that's the way we eat, but we don't go hungry. We can do whatever we want to do. I have a car, so if I have to go someplace, I can go. They take us places if we want to go, like to the store. We've got some good staff people here, and no problems with them. Sometimes I like the food, sometimes not, because they have all different kinds of it. But most of the time I like it. The rooms are all good. We got sprinkler and alarm systems in all of the rooms. Mine is a studio, so it's not really big. But you get your three meals a day. They clean the room every week and clean your shower. We have showers which I like. They are glass doors. The layout of the community is big. It's like a hundred and twenty rooms with two or three floors. They have stuff going on every day here. They have exercise. They have a TV room where they show movies every day. We have a bus, and every Friday they go someplace. And a couple of times a week, they go out for breakfast or lunch. From what I understand from other ones, the other places are more expensive than this place."

"Fathers day dinner was amazing. The BBQ Pork boneless, apple pie and salad. I have been here 8 years the best dinner I had here! I highly recommend Calaroga Terrace. Great People and Great Food"

"I toured Glenmoore Gracious Retirement Living. It was very good and very nice. I like the décor and the activities that they have. The staff gave me a tour. All they have there is independent living. Upkeep was very good. I was very impressed with it. It was very clean and modern. It's an overall nice facility. They showed me two apartments, and they were very nice. The staff were good and knowledgeable."

"Mom is at MorningStar at Laurelhurst. It is very clean. Most of the caregivers are very caring and loving. They enjoy what they do and care for the residents. There were a few issues at the beginning, but things are better now. No place is perfect. I was given a couple of opportunities to have a meal there, and the food is always very fresh because the memory care patients are always served first. It's nutritious and they have a really good chef. There's a good variety. There are a lot of coloring activities (they have adult coloring books). They also play music and then have movies after dinner. They have other activities that I noticed on the board, like going for a walk and trivia things, but Mom's not interested in any of that stuff. She's very picky. She's always just sitting there, totally bored."

We are five-star caring home our caregivers, very educated and trained. We do have two RNs on call if needed. We are a 24-hour care home. We are experienced with all care. Very nice and clean home. We have a really nice backyard with the fruit trees where our residents can go and walk on a nice day. We have two covered patios. Its good for any weather to be outside. Our residents always do activities if they want too, summer time we have vegetable garden, some of our residents like to work in the garden. "It was very nice, but it just wasn't the independent living that we wanted. We like the home that they showed us. It has a very small grounds, compared to the place we chose. The person who gave us the tour was friendly and informative. They were going to give us lunch; but because we did all the touring, the lunch pretty much was gone by the time they offered us food. It was not appealing. They fed us leftovers, basically. They have the usual amenities like transportation, and it was OK. The location is great. It's right next to a shopping center. The staff keeps the place clean, and the room we saw was adequate. The layout of the place is appealing."

"My mother was at Kamlu Retirement Inn. It wasn’t a facility for intensive care, but for independent living. Some people drove their own cars, and it was kind of like an apartment. They have people who come up to their rooms and clean them. The staff were very good at making sure everything was all right. With their activities, every day they have something going on. They have a bus that would take you shopping if you wanted to go. "
