"Creekside Village Retirement seemed very nice. Everyone was extremely nice. We didn't eat there, but the dining area looked nice and was quite large. They had a place to watch movies and a laundry facility. I think they did bingo once or twice a week."

"It was a very nice place. It's new, wide open, and very bright. They have a nice facility and a good size room. The staff was excellent. The dining area was bright and open. It was just very pleasant."

"I toured MorningStar of Hillsboro. The facility is way too big. It looks like you're in a hotel, which is nice, and I've toured the apartments. They're nice and bright, and that's what I'm looking for. The staff member who helped with the tour was a sweetie and knowledgeable. They've got everything going on in there. They play card games, go on tours as far as getting out of Morningstar, and go on shopping trips. It's more of a fit for me. The view was beautiful. The facility was clean and solid; however, the apartments are a little small for me."

"I signed up for Holiday Rock Creek. It's very clean and nice. I like the chef-prepared meals. Everything is included, so I don't have to worry about chasing a bill or something. It's all taken care of with one check. They've got nice people working there. It's just a studio apartment. They have a whole bunch of activities."

"My sister and her spouse moved to Elms Retirement Living Center in Forest Grove. I think they chose it because my sister's daughters are all within about a 10-minute drive. I was a little disappointed in what they chose because there's no assisted living there. If they start needing care, they have to pay for somebody privately to come in since it's just a retirement center. I personally think they should have gotten a place that had some level of assistance. Other than that, it's a very nice facility. They also have good food. I've eaten there several times, primarily for dinner. They have a great salad bar, and the waitress will come and ask you if you want small, medium, or large portions of the different things that they're serving. I don't really see the staff that much, but the ones that I do see are very polite and very nice. It seems like the staff know the names of the residents, too. It seems they're connected to them, not just bodies in a room. They have a nice library, and they have a kind of loft space where they have what they call the Fireside Chat. I think it's every Monday night where people congregate, and sometimes they'll have guest speakers. Otherwise, one of the members will tell a story from their past or something. It's really very pleasant. I'm not there during the day, but I know that they have exercise classes every day. They also have a bus where they'll have some place planned, at least once a week, to take people out."

"My dad moved into Solista Milwaukie by Cogir. I chose it because it mainly had to do with proximity to where I live. My wife and mother-in-law had toured this place, and out of all the places they toured, they said this one felt the best. That was one of the main reasons why I picked it. His apartment is very clean, newly renovated, and nice. The staff is friendly, nice, and very helpful. I have tried the meal, and it's very good. They did a movie night on Friday, but my dad didn't go to it, and that's the only thing I'm familiar with. He's only been here since the first."

"We put a deposit at Mount Angel Towers. It sat out in the country. They have lots of grounds, and they have lots of activities. They have a big wood workshop that men can go to. The staff is great. The residents are very happy to be there. Everybody has smiles on their faces. It's a big facility, so there are a lot of people there. The rooms are nice. They are big, and they have redone them all. My in-laws chose a two-bedroom and some windows go from one side of the apartment to the other side of the apartment. You can look out and see all the grounds, and it's a beautiful view. We had a meal there. It's restaurant dining. You can go in and just order anything you want off the menu at any time you want to eat. The food was really good. I think what sold my in-laws to the place were the apartment and the residents. The apartment was big, and the view was incredible. It had tons and tons of storage, and it had a full kitchen, too. And that's hard to come by these days. There were 10 residents that came and told us that they loved living there, that they had been there for so many years, and that it was the best thing they ever did. The staff was super great and super accommodating, too. We loved how they interacted with everybody else that was there. The price was a huge point as well. It was considerably lower than the normal range in Oregon. As far as the hallways and the main gathering areas are concerned, those were not super upscale. They weren't bad, but it was super clean and well-kept. They also had a huge selection of every kind of breakfast item from waffles to pancakes to French toast to omelets to eggs to bacon to sausage, to ham, anything you could imagine. And then they had a huge selection of soups, salads, sandwiches, and pasta. You can pick what you want to eat. You can either come at breakfast or lunch. You can come in between and get a meal, and then you come to dinner. That's kind of how they do it there. "

"I like Somerset Lodge. Everybody that I talked to said it's like family. They invited me to lunch, and lunch was good. The people were wonderful. Everybody was wonderful. The person that took me around was great. She spent a lot of time with me. It's a beautiful location. They have big green areas for walking. It is very high on my list, but I'm not sure if I can afford it in a year. Maybe it will be a little too expensive for me. The food was very good. I was sitting with three very nice ladies. This lady who took me around gave me lots of time, and she was a star. They have just decorated for Christmas. The residents decorated it and they did an unbelievable job."

"I toured Calaroga Terrace, and I knew immediately it was not the right place for me. The person who took me around was the most vivacious and the most positive person. Debbie was wonderful. I think she was the marketing manager or the sales manager. She really was a dynamite person, but the place wasn't right for me. The sizes of the rooms were OK, but they did not have stoves. While I am 83, I still love to cook. They provide three meals a day, seven days a week. The place is older. It's a renovated hotel, but it looks tired. I wouldn't fit in there. It's the only high-rise that I toured. I noticed that there were birds that were using the windows on the ninth floor, and I wondered how often the windows got cleaned. Inside, the cleanliness was fine though. They had two libraries, a lounge on each floor, and a craft room. They had the typical amenities that almost all of these had."

"We went to Glenmoore Gracious Retirement Living. They have two-bedroom, two-bathroom units, but none are available at this time. They had a very nice dining room. The building and its surroundings were very nice. We had lunch there, which was pretty good. The staff seemed pretty good, too."

"Mom is at MorningStar at Laurelhurst. It is very clean. Most of the caregivers are very caring and loving. They enjoy what they do and care for the residents. There were a few issues at the beginning, but things are better now. No place is perfect. I was given a couple of opportunities to have a meal there, and the food is always very fresh because the memory care patients are always served first. It's nutritious and they have a really good chef. There's a good variety. There are a lot of coloring activities (they have adult coloring books). They also play music and then have movies after dinner. They have other activities that I noticed on the board, like going for a walk and trivia things, but Mom's not interested in any of that stuff. She's very picky. She's always just sitting there, totally bored."

We are five-star caring home our caregivers, very educated and trained. We do have two RNs on call if needed. We are a 24-hour care home. We are experienced with all care. Very nice and clean home. We have a really nice backyard with the fruit trees where our residents can go and walk on a nice day. We have two covered patios. Its good for any weather to be outside. Our residents always do activities if they want too, summer time we have vegetable garden, some of our residents like to work in the garden. "We toured Solista Salem by Cogir, and it was a very nice one. The thing that I liked best about it was that there were a lot of activities going on. The residents were out and busy. I really like that. They have lots to do. The thing that I like least is the location. It's too far away from me. It is in a tight area, too, because it is hilly, and my concern was for my father because he likes to walk. Other than that, everything else was great. We had an original appointment for another day to visit them, and we were in the area, so we just popped in. I said, "Can we take our tour today since we're here and because it's kind of far?" The staff dropped everything, and she did the tour. She said, "I'm the only one here, and if you don't mind any interruptions, I will absolutely take you on a tour," and she was great. Her name was Alyssa. I like their menu. They have a good menu. I like the building. However, it was hard to find parking when we got there. I like their staff, and I like the room. Everything was remodeled. They looked newer, so it was very nice. They just got a roof put on, and they were still working on some areas on the roof, so I like that. It was updated and kept up. The inside hallways were fine, but it didn't seem as homey as the other place."

"Kamlu Vancouver Senior Living is very nice, peaceful, clean, and welcoming. Everybody was friendly, very helpful, and courteous. The apartments are small for me. I would have to get rid of some stuff. It's kind of interesting that they're going to have Christmas in July. They do try to have activities. They have movies. The food was good. It looked great to me, so I had no complaints about the place."
