"Creekside Village Retirement was very nice. It looked very homey and comfortable. The person who toured us were very nice and answered questions. The dining area was very nice, clean and comfortable. There were poker and card games going on there."

"Country Meadows Village is close to where we live now, so we would be able to keep our friends if we were to move there. Everything's new, clean, and bright, and there are lots of activities. We know people there, and the facilities are very nice. The rooms are nice. It's probably where we would go. They have guest lecturers, and the residents go on trips. The residents play card games and do athletic things to stay in shape. There is another building for memory care and other issues. "

"Glenmoore Gracious Retirement Living was more up-to-date than all of the other places we looked at. It was more modern, it had a two-bedroom, two-bath that we wanted, and all the meals. They had a theater, a beauty shop, they had a library, and the people were extremely nice, and very helpful. They provided us with one meal, and it was quite delicious. I think that they have a lot of activities. We're planning to move there."

"MorningStar of Hillsboro was very nice, new, and shiny. The woman who did the intake was incredibly knowledgeable, but it was much more expensive, and there wasn't a good way to access the outside from the apartment with the dog. You didn't want to have to walk the dog all the way through the facility to get outside. Physically, it didn't work out. This facility was gorgeous. They even have a swimming pool inside. They have a library, a gym, and game rooms. It seems very well-maintained."

"Fathers day dinner was amazing. The BBQ Pork boneless, apple pie and salad. I have been here 8 years the best dinner I had here! I highly recommend Calaroga Terrace. Great People and Great Food"

"I went to Rock Creek. The tour was thorough and good. We understood everything. The staff was very cordial. We didn't see any of the people who lived there. It was like going through an unoccupied place, but the tour was fine. We went through a room, and it was fine. They had a parking lot. From what we could see, everything was fine. It's only independent living. They have plenty of activities, but there weren't any right then because of the lockdown. I just noticed it up on the board. They had a Cinco De Mayo special party and excursions to different places. It's close to a healthcare facility. Where it is, is a very advantageous situation. They had a library and several of the people there are good artists. They have a showing of their artwork on one of the floors. Because of the lockdown situation, they weren't serving food."

"Mom is at MorningStar at Laurelhurst. It is very clean. Most of the caregivers are very caring and loving. They enjoy what they do and care for the residents. There were a few issues at the beginning, but things are better now. No place is perfect. I was given a couple of opportunities to have a meal there, and the food is always very fresh because the memory care patients are always served first. It's nutritious and they have a really good chef. There's a good variety. There are a lot of coloring activities (they have adult coloring books). They also play music and then have movies after dinner. They have other activities that I noticed on the board, like going for a walk and trivia things, but Mom's not interested in any of that stuff. She's very picky. She's always just sitting there, totally bored."

"We visited Mt. Angel Towers and decided that’s the place we would choose. It was in a beautiful setting. They had nice apartments. They had all the amenities that we were looking for. The staff was very courteous and friendly. Everybody seemed to be friendly there. They had all sorts of rooms from studio to two-bedroom. They also had two-bedroom deluxe which were larger than a regular two-bedroom. Maybe they could improve on updating the rooms in the apartments. Maybe they could add a little more color in the rooms. The facility was about 50 years old. They had a very nice lounge area for you to sit. They had a fireplace and the large auditorium where they hold events or church services. "

"Parkrose Chateau was very nice. I like the idea of independent living all the way up to, heaven forbid, nursing care. The grounds were beautiful, and the staff seemed friendly. We didn't eat, but the menu looked delicious. The residents looked happy. It's a place I could call home. They have some exercise programs, outings, newspapers to read, movies, and companionship. "

"It had a very homey type of living situation. We stayed for lunch, and the food was extremely very good. The size of the studio was quite small, but the one-bedroom size would be very good for me. They had a place next door where the residents could transfer to assisted living."

"It was very clean and the people were wonderful. The dining area looked clean and the food was good. They have activities when I was there like seniors putting puzzles together, and some residents were watching TV. The person who gave me the tour was very nice, knowledgeable, and explained the whole thing."

"Elms Retirement Living Center is a very nice place. The staff seemed very nice and accommodating. The biggest problem that I had was that, if you came in through what they were calling the main entrance, which was from the parking lot, you had to navigate through the dining room to get to the elevators. Being blind, I would have done it, but I didn't choose that place also because Forest Grove is a little bit further out, and I go to Vancouver on Sundays. It would have added an extra 30 minutes to my travel time. The food was very good. The staff was friendly and helpful. It was just too far out. Since I am blind, I use the paratransit services, and it's usually a shared ride. The further out you are, the more possibilities you're going to have to pick up people or drop people off or both, and the traffic here is crazy."

"We liked Truewood by Merrill, Vancouver. They're high quality. The staff was wonderful. The rooms were nice. The cost was just too high for us. We were looking for something a little more economical. The pool was beautiful. It was an indoor pool and it was open all the time."

"Kamlu Retirement Inn-Vancouver was an older facility, but it looked nice. I looked at two rooms there. One was downstairs with a patio and a very nice garden area. But it was a little small and kind of outdated, but they were going to redo that. I looked at one that was a little bit bigger, and I liked it better, but it was upstairs. They do have an elevator, though, so that wasn't bad. The gentleman leading us was very thorough and had a whole packet of stuff for me. We walked along and chatted about everything that we saw. They have movies. They make little trips. You can get rides to the doctor and all that stuff. They do provide meals, but I'm not ready for that yet. There was no adjustment if you didn't want meals. Their menu looked good."
