"Fanno Creek (Elite Care at Fanno Creek) is an older facility that seems to have a very experienced, flexible staff. We like the layout of the facility the best. The rooms are all around the edge and a very large community area is in the middle, so there aren't any halls to get lost in. When you step out of your room, you’re in the main community area. Fanno Creek seemed to be the most flexible with diet. They said that the kitchen is open 24 hours a day, and for memory patients that’s important because their time schedule can get all out of whack. If they want something in the middle of the night, then the chef will cook it for them, so that seems attractive. The cost was very reasonable. The reason why we didn’t go with them is because they’re rather far away from us, but other than that, we really liked the facility. "

"Washington Gardens is a new facility. I thought it's the best one that I could afford. The staff is very professional. They appear to be well-trained and seem to take care of the people. "I liked Brookdale Beaverton. It was very clean and the people living there were emotionally attached to the staff. They would beam when they walk into the room. That was a very high score place, but it's a drive. For the foreseeable future, being a frequent visitor, being close to my wife is my priority. We walked through the facility as a whole, then went to the memory care. It was a very nice facility and the people in there seemed very nice, very well dressed, and well cared for. They would come up and talk to the person that was giving me the tour. They recognized that person. It was good. They had both shared and individual rooms. They had nice arrangements in terms of privacy for the two people in shared rooms. It was a very nice facility with nice furnishings and nice decor. It's a very comfortable place to be. The staff was very friendly and very informative. I learned a lot from her. She did a great job. It's a beautiful place. They had a really beautiful outdoor area and the interior layout was quite spacious. There were a lot of people walking or in wheelchairs, but moving about, going from one place to another. I noticed a piano in the front lobby. They bring musicians in. There was a chalkboard that had activities including musical entertainment that week. I said hello to the activities director who was working in the room, bringing out activities for the residents."

"I visited the independent living community of Clearwater Beaverton, and I will be moving into a 2-bedroom apartment there. It was $700 cheaper than the other facility I looked at, and everybody was just so friendly. The people I sat with and had lunch with have been very nice. Everybody seems to like the place really well, and there were no complaints. I wanted the 2-bedroom apartment because my house is almost 3000 square feet, and there's a lot of stuff I've collected, so I liked the size of the unit. I love the courtyard, too. They have a lot of activities there, and I thought that would be interesting. I also have a deck that is kind of enclosed. It's not on the outside of the building, but just bolted onto the side, and has a door out onto it from the bedroom. I like that it's covered, and my things won't go flying off the side of a building if it gets stormy. I think they said that nobody's used that room before. It's brand new, so that'll be nice. The sink faces the window that looks outside near the deck. It has a raised counter there, so I could put stools instead of a dining room table because I didn't want to take up more space in the living room, which is not that big. You come in and there's a kitchen and a place where you could put your dining room table and living room. I like that a lot. I liked that it has a bath and a half. I also like that one wall is painted in a very nice soft green. I just don't have anything that I'm worried about. They also have covered parking if I want it. Everything seems to be taken care of, and I'm very pleased. There are a lot of activities there. There's somebody there that quilts, and I also wanted to do yoga, and they've got that. The food was good. There are lots of choices that you can eat, and it's two meals a day, which is fine. I could also have my cat there."
