I am a friend or relative of a current/past resident

My mother has moved into Cedar Crest Alzheimer's Special Care Center. The look and feel of the place is very cozy and inviting. They have plenty of daily activities. Her living space is nice. It has big windows for looking out. It's pretty comfortable looking. They get plenty of food. The interaction with the staff has been good. They've all been very, very friendly. They have a fireplace room, TV rooms, game rooms, and dining halls.

I visited this facility

I chose Cedar Crest Alzheimer's Special Care Center for my dad. The place was clean and cheerful. It seemed to be well-appointed and homey. They seemed to have a pretty good ratio of staff to residents, and they just seemed to be very accommodating. They were responsive, pleasant, and gracious, and they seemed to be very empathetic with the residents. They had a garden, a beauty shop, a barber shop, a library, and a variety of different spaces for people to come together.

I visited this facility

Cedar Crest Alzheimer's Special Care Center was nice and clean, and the person who showed me around was very friendly and helpful. It just seemed a little bit darker than I would have liked. Other than that, everything was good. The size of the rooms was fine. The only thing I saw that was going on was that the staff was having a training session.

My dad seems to be doing pretty well at Cedar Crest Alzheimer's Special Care Center. For the most part, the staff seems attentive. At times, it's kind of hard to figure out who's in charge of certain things and who to talk to about certain minor issues. They might be a little understaffed, but I think most facilities these days are like that. Dad's room is big enough for what he needs. He doesn't have a spectacular view from his room, but it's fine. The dining area is set up more like a cafeteria than a restaurant. They have an activities director, and they have a lot of activities like arts and crafts. They have a TV room, common areas, and areas for activities and recreation. They have very nice grounds. They have a courtyard where the residents can go out to when the weather is nice.

I visited this facility

I had an in-person tour of Cedar Crest Alzheimer's Special Care Center. The lady that took me around for the tour was very knowledgeable, very friendly, and knew the people as we walked through. I liked the idea that they had photos and a storyboard of the residents outside each room. It not only told other residents and visitors about the person, but also helped the residents find their room if they were at a point where navigating might be difficult. It's an older building, but well-kept. It was decorated well and interesting for the tenants. The person that greeted me and gave me my mask and shield was very cordial.

Cedar Crest Alzheimer's Special Care Center was fine for memory care. The caregivers were really nice and engaged with the residents. The residents seemed to be doing fine. The place was clean. It could use some updating, but nothing was falling or in disrepair. The maintenance and upkeep were very good. The rooms were fine. It's a little hard to get to because you have to do a little backtracking because of how 99 has been changed. They're set off the road, so they're not right on 99 itself, even though the address may be. The grounds seemed nice and well taken care of. I was impressed that they could handle different phases of memory care.

Cedar Crest was way too big. It should've been broken down. It would've been extremely confusing for dementia/Alzheimer's patients to find their rooms because it was just so spread out. I would've liked it if it had been more in small groups. I have a friend whose husband is there, and she is very pleased with it and the caregiver. I wasn't impressed with the person that assisted me. He promised to save a room for Dave for the following Monday, so I called him on the following Monday to make the arrangement, but he was out of town. He didn't call me back until midweek and told me the room had been rented, so I was not impressed with that. They had several dining areas, but I didn't try the food.

My dad entered Cedar Crest because of memory issues related to head trauma. He had struggled in hospital and skilled care because he could not remember instructions. At Cedar Crest, the staff focused on him and worked with him. They made him comfortable and safe. His memory has returned and we leave very impressed and satisfied with the staff and their approach.

We visited Cedar Crest. It was nice. The person's support was very nice. I met the staff. In fact, some of the nurses even went up the house. The care was very nice. It had two dining rooms, grounds outside, the works. It was just a few years old and very well appointed. The place was excellent. They had everything from transportation to shopping and so forth. My experience was excellent.

My very first time visiting this facility was for my grandmothers 88th birthday. Not being a big fan of retirement homes i had dreaded this visit. i walked in the front doors expecting to be assaulted with the smell of soiled depends and cheap air freshener but was instead greeted with the fresh scent of lemon and wild flowers. already my visit was that much less dreadful because the smell was so inviting. We sat down for lunch and instead of the lumpy tasteless potatoes i was prepared to force down i was granted with a steaming place of fresh vegetables on rice with broiled chicken. i was surprised and wound up eating every last bite. the staff was great with all the residents and always had a smile on their face. watching the way the staff interacted with all off them did my heart good. One caregiver even got up and played some old tunes on the piano in light of my grans birthday. she was so happy that i couldnt help but be delighted with the facility, it was overall a great experience and am now a weekly visitor.

Families suffering from the effects of alzheimers are in a fragile state. The staff at cedar crest made my family feel at ease knowing that my grandfather was in their care. He received care and compassion on a level which all care facilities should operate.
