"I've visited Sapphire at Firwood Gardens. The people were really friendly, the place was nice and clean, and the building itself was not rundown. The only thing I didn't like was that where my dad would have been there, he'd have to take an elevator and would have to go all the way outside to smoke. So that wasn't a fit for him. The staff seemed helpful, were nice about showing me around, and answered my questions. It seems like they offer a lot of things that the seniors would need. And they have a side that's memory care, so if they started at assisted living, they can transfer out to memory care, so I like that."

"I visited Edgewood Point Assisted Living. We were very impressed with the tour manager, Ellen. Everyone was nice, offered to help, and seemed competent. The cleanliness was very good. It's kind of a jump from living in a separate home to a place that's similar to a hotel or a motel. It seemed quiet enough, though. It's not as if they are too close and too loud. We saw a larger room, which was very impressive, and quite a good bathroom and bedroom. We saw a smaller one, which was more like a large motel room."

"Very clean and smaller so attention to detail is more possible by the staff. It feels like home. The maintenance man is very helpful also."

"My friend is here. It is absolutely amazing. They are the most caring people I've come across. They're feeding her, they're doing her laundry, and they're doing all the regular stuff. I've never seen such caring people in my life. The facility is wonderful. My friend says the food is really good. With regard to activities, there was a caregiver that was braiding hair, but I have not been there at a regular activity time."

"Cedar Crest Alzheimer's Special Care Center is, by far, one of the better places out there. My sister was there for respite care, and they took a step above by making sure that not only was my sister in a good facility for care, but that I felt okay to do what I needed to do for two weeks. She's my oldest sister, we're the last two, and they put my mind at ease at a care facility that would take care of her needs. Their staff was really good. The director came out that very first morning when I called them, saying I'm in a crunch for time and I have to be somewhere in a week. She came out that morning, and she was a very pleasant person. The guy who does the intake came out the next day and made sure that the paperwork was good. They got a hold of the doctors, her medical stuff, and got everything set in place in less than a 24 hours. I was dealing with this one other place, and it took two weeks with them to keep dropping the ball. The pricing was also right here. They're all in the same range, but all these other places wanted to charge me a month for a two-week respite. This place just charged me for a 2-week respite. They went above and beyond the call of duty. That is what a facility should be doing. They should not only make sure that their client or resident is in a good situation, but also that the family at home feels like they have placed them in a good place. If my sister ever has to be in a facility situation again for whatever reason, this facility would be my choice, and they would be my choice to tell anybody else looking for it. It's a very excellent place, and a very excellent choice for me. My sister said the meals there are wonderful, and the place reminded me of a resort. It didn't look like I was putting my sister in an old folk home, and she wasn't in some kind of hospital-type facility. The staff was excellent there. I didn't meet all their staff, but the ones I did were cordial. The rooms were clean. They had two dining areas, they served them food, and they kept them busy. My sister had a great time. She was glad to come home, but she also said she'd love to go back. She met people, and they have activities to do. That has to say something for the facility itself. If you're in a situation like my sister's, how many people would say that if they had to, that would be where they'd go? That place is just far above the standards. I can't think of anything that was there that wouldn't have been a 5-star. They went on a bus trip, they had music situations, and they did a lot of exercise. The staff also finds a fit for what the residents like to do. For instance, my sister likes word searches, so they made sure that she had that. It just wasn't like shoving somebody to a table and throwing a bunch of puzzles, and there you go. These people were very cordial and friendly. They hadn't seen me in two weeks, but after the two weeks of her stay there, they knew who I was as I walked through the door. I said I'm going to get my sister, and they remembered who I was. It's a pretty big house, 45 people or more. There had to be more because that place is bigger than that, so that was cool."

"I toured Columbia Place Assisted Living. It's clean and comfortable-looking. I would stay there if I could. It's efficient, and the director who showed me around was very helpful. The apartments and studios that were available at the time were nice and clean. They had a kitchenette, and those were nice. They had a memory care section. They had everything figured out as to the evaluation of the patient, where they should be, and what they should do to keep active. The menu, the cooking, the setup, the activities they had for them, the courtyard, everything just looked wonderful, and the area was great."

"Finding the right place for my dad was one of the hardest decisions we had to make, but Murray made it so much easier. From day one, the staff welcomed him like family, ensuring he felt comfortable and cared for. The nurses and caregivers are always attentive, and they genuinely take the time to engage with residents. He enjoys the activities, especially the music nights and gardening club. It’s a huge relief knowing he’s in a place where he’s treated with kindness and dignity."

"We’ve placed our father in Brookdale Troutdale. The building is very nice and clean. The staff is very helpful. My father seems to be well cared for there. The room is spacious and has a private bath, which is nice. They took him on an outing, have sing-alongs and get-togethers, and watch movies together. "

"My Mother has been living here for three years and has been very happy. I can't say enough good things about the management team and the care staff. They have been wonderful communicating through Covid and always respond promptly and with compassion if you have any concerns regarding your loved one. They've created a really caring environment for the residents. I have so much respect and admiration for every single staff member as I've watched them work so hard on a daily basis to meet the needs of the residents. I can honestly say that the staff give their best and go above and beyond every single day. My Mother receives great care here and we feel lucky to have her living there."

"A Place To Call Home IV Andresen Rd is an adult foster home. My wife has only been here a couple of weeks. We are waiting to get set up for physical therapy, so right now, they're just taking care of her meals, showers, and whatever else she needs. I come almost every day to see her. The owner of this place has four of these. I went and visited three of the four and these are very nice homes, much better than I've seen anywhere else. The staff is very friendly. The girl that's here almost all the time, Violet, does a good job of taking care of my wife. Cleanliness is excellent. They do several things. They have entertainers that come in and they've got somebody for yoga that comes in and musicians, much better than you would see anywhere else probably."

"L&s Adult Care Home has a new owner who runs the facility. Her name is Sarah and she was very good. The home was clean. It was old and it's a smaller home care for five adults and interestingly, it was a home for women. So for my mom, that would be fine, and I can understand where that also might be an advantage. The staff was very nice and very helpful with entertaining questions. It's a house that is run by a woman and her husband, and they are parents to one nine-month-old child and a two-year-old, and they live at the facility. So, if you're an older person and you enjoy being around kids and family, which seems to be quite pleasant, that would be awesome. You would have a built-in grandchild to interact with once in a while and nothing can help brighten our day sometimes, but having a little bit of time to maybe play together with the child. For those who don't want the occasional interruption of children or the inevitable times when the kids are tired and upset and need attention from their parents, it might create an environment where there's a little more competition for your caregivers' time. I don't think that overall, it's a negative, I think it's positive that they're a small little family, but it's the kind of thing that could be a risk and the one thing we know with kids growing up is that their needs continuously change. So, it might be something that could get better, because the kids are learning to live with older adults as well, or it may have times when it's not so optimal."

"My wife is at the Hampton & the Ashley Inn. It's a warm setting. The staff are caring. The facility is very clean and pleasant. The staff members are very helpful. If I come in and I can't find my wife, I'll ask one of the staff, and they in turn can locate her and direct me to her, so that's a nice feature. I won't say it's a huge facility, but it's large enough to spend about five minutes looking for somebody. They have several TV rooms, several rooms with tables, and facilities to do puzzles or whatever your interest is. The activities include things like exercise and games where you try to come up with the correct answers. I haven't seen anybody poorly handled or mishandled. There's maybe one patient that gets very boisterous and not cooperative at all, but they seem to manage them and are trying to be as considerate as possible to them. My wife said the meals were fine. You walk down the halls and there are pictures of all sorts of things."
