"I have toured Edgewood Point Assisted Living. I like the location, it was fairly close to where I live, and the people were super nice. It's just outside my price range. The apartments had their own bathroom. They showed me one that had an efficiency kitchen and a studio. The rooms had their appliances, you just have to bring your own bed, stuff, and furniture. The staff member who gave me the tour was super nice. She said I could try the food, but I didn't want to because I already knew I couldn't afford the place. They provide three meals a day. There was a little outdoor courtyard-type area. They have one section for memory care that has its own outdoors, and then they have the regular living portion that has its own outdoor facility as well. They have somebody come in twice a week and do exercise with the people there, there's a lot of classes like a music class, singing, and so on."

"I visit the facility almost every day, and I’ve seen firsthand how every member of the team genuinely cares. Communication with families is excellent—whether it’s regular updates or addressing concerns, the administrator makes sure to keep me informed about my mom’s care, which gives me great peace of mind. "I visited Pheasant Pointe Assisted Living & Memory Care. I was lead custodian and janitor at work for a long time, and this place was immaculate. The people were wonderful. They helped and answered all the questions I'd ever wanted. They talked to my sister over the phone in a kind of a conference-type thing. It was amazing. I was pleased by the help I got from the people. When I walked into the place, it was beautiful and wide open. All the memory care people and the other people are all working together, talking and visiting. It was just a great atmosphere. The room that I have seen is just now being remodeled. It will have two people in it, and it was nice. They had a pop machine and coffee machines. They had drinks everywhere in the dining room area that people could help themselves to. They had nice areas for the people to get together and group together, visit, and talk. It was just a comfortable atmosphere. I don't know if anybody will beat this place as far as pricing, as far as cleanliness, and everything else. But this will probably be the place we put my mother."

"I visited the assisted living. It was a good tour. They have very nice staff, very clean area, and the place was bright and open. It looked like a nice place, I wish they had an opening. They had all sorts of planned activities. There's a girl there doing some crafts, they have a big community room, they have a little bit of everything I think. The person who gave the tour was great, but she didn't show us the memory care. The facilities were very nice, clean, bright and welcoming. The dining room was basically just an open room, and they had a serving bar. It was like a kitchen with an island, though much bigger, and they were serving from there."

"Mom is at MorningStar at Laurelhurst. It is very clean. Most of the caregivers are very caring and loving. They enjoy what they do and care for the residents. There were a few issues at the beginning, but things are better now. No place is perfect. I was given a couple of opportunities to have a meal there, and the food is always very fresh because the memory care patients are always served first. It's nutritious and they have a really good chef. There's a good variety. There are a lot of coloring activities (they have adult coloring books). They also play music and then have movies after dinner. They have other activities that I noticed on the board, like going for a walk and trivia things, but Mom's not interested in any of that stuff. She's very picky. She's always just sitting there, totally bored."

"My grandmother was so well cared for and loved by the Bortes family. We were always so pleased with our visits with the family and their sweet children, we are comforted knowing she was genuinely happy during the final months of her life. "

"My husband is here, in their Alzheimer's care unit. It's been good. All of the staff are very friendly, and the residents seem to be happy. With COVID, I haven't really been in except when we moved him in there. They're very attentive, it seems. The staff were all very informative and very caring. The facility is very open, it's very spacious, it has a lot of daylight coming in, and it has a lot of windows. The gardens and the ground are very well kept and very nice. It looks like it's well maintained."

"My father is very happy at Summerplace. Everybody is awesome. He likes everything about it, and we're very happy. Everything is terrific."

"Murray Highland Memory Care is a small and very intimate community. The staff are friendly. My father is in a shared room and although it's small for the two people, it's just adequate. It has a nice window looking out into the courtyard and a very good-sized bathroom. They're very good at resident engagement and they do very well with activities. For what we're getting and for what we're paying, it's a great value for our money. The only thing is they're struggling to get staff, just like every other community."

"I visited Clare Bridge and it was fine. It was clean and it didn't smell. The staff was nice. The residents were having activities when I went there. Everything seemed fine. "

"My husband has been at Arbor Oaks Terrace Memory Center in Newberg since mid-May 2020 after complications due to COVID-19 escalated his vascular dementia from low level to maximum. He was also admitted under hospice care. The care he has received at OAT has been more than I could ever imagine. The staff is so caring. I have not been able to visit him (plus he doesn’t recognize pictures of me), but staff sends pictures and videos of him to me. I know he is receiving much better care than I ever could give him at home. I’m so thankful for everyone who takes care of him. "

"Brookdale Beaverton has been great, I like the place, they treat my mother well, and she's happy there. It's for memory care and she is getting lots of care there. The staff is caring and attentive. The rooms are nice and large, and they keep them clean. I haven't seen them but they play bingo and they have dancing and exercise stuff. She likes the food but I wasn't too crazy about the cake with no frosting. I think they're way too expensive and they need to improve their food. Also, I don't know how they can improve on that, but they lost my mom's teeth. She's only been there 2 weeks and they lost her teeth so I don't understand that."

"L&s Adult Care Home has a new owner who runs the facility. Her name is Sarah and she was very good. The home was clean. It was old and it's a smaller home care for five adults and interestingly, it was a home for women. So for my mom, that would be fine, and I can understand where that also might be an advantage. The staff was very nice and very helpful with entertaining questions. It's a house that is run by a woman and her husband, and they are parents to one nine-month-old child and a two-year-old, and they live at the facility. So, if you're an older person and you enjoy being around kids and family, which seems to be quite pleasant, that would be awesome. You would have a built-in grandchild to interact with once in a while and nothing can help brighten our day sometimes, but having a little bit of time to maybe play together with the child. For those who don't want the occasional interruption of children or the inevitable times when the kids are tired and upset and need attention from their parents, it might create an environment where there's a little more competition for your caregivers' time. I don't think that overall, it's a negative, I think it's positive that they're a small little family, but it's the kind of thing that could be a risk and the one thing we know with kids growing up is that their needs continuously change. So, it might be something that could get better, because the kids are learning to live with older adults as well, or it may have times when it's not so optimal."

"I toured Silver Creek Senior Living. It was very, very nice, but they had very limited Medicaid apartment availability. The tour was really good. The community looked like it had a great atmosphere, and there were lots of activities and things to keep people busy. The staff who gave the tour was amazing. Super nice. She was ready for me and called me by name as soon as I walked in. She gave me literature, too. The apartments were very beautiful, friendly, and comfortable. Everything was accessible. The dining area looked really good, too. There were a lot of people eating at that time, and they all seemed to be very jovial. I noticed that they had a movie room, an activity room, a game room, and an area where people were doing jigsaw puzzles and card games and stuff like that. "
