"Country Meadows had everything a person would want and all kinds of activities. Beautiful rooms although we only saw the bottom floor. It is accessible to all of their activities. They have three meals a day, but we didn’t try any of the meals. They should be nominated for sainthood as they are really nice during the visit. They had a pool and card games. "

"I looked at Brookdale River Road assisted living, they have an opening and it was probably on our top 2 or 3 picks. It was a very good tour. They had options for a large 1-bedroom, 2-bedroom, or a studio. They were a smaller place. I think they only have about 40 residents but I liked the smallness instead of my mom being in a 200-bed place. They detailed what it would cost for us to move in and the meal plans and everything so I liked that it was very, very thorough. It was a 2-story building and they had 2 elevators for those who couldn't go down the stairs. They have activities and they have a bus on certain days for doctor's appointments if they're scheduled."

"Cedar Village was undergoing management change and I thought it was deteriorating. However, they had activities director and they do bingo. They had a bus that takes people out. They had concerts for the people that live there. "

We are five-star caring home our caregivers, very educated and trained. We do have two RNs on call if needed. We are a 24-hour care home. We are experienced with all care. Very nice and clean home. We have a really nice backyard with the fruit trees where our residents can go and walk on a nice day. We have two covered patios. Its good for any weather to be outside. Our residents always do activities if they want too, summer time we have vegetable garden, some of our residents like to work in the garden. "My parents are residents of Mt Angel Towers and they have an apartment there. My dad was moved down to assisted living, so the obvious convenience is that they're both staying in the same place and have access to each other. It's an older community, so it's not as contemporary as the ones I've visited. We're still kind of on a trial basis. But overall, the care and the attention that this community provides for their active living residents is the same for the assisted living residents as well. He gets the care that he needs, and we have not had any major issues so far."

"What we liked about Redwood Heights Assisted Living is that the people are very friendly and the main area is very bright, airy, and open. There's lots of natural light, which really appealed to us. My mother is very social, and so people who are being very friendly would appeal to her. Seeing that there were people playing cards, playing bingo, and doing all kinds of things, I knew that would really help her get adjusted quickly. The staff seems to be doing a great job. Other than socialization, our main concern was medication management, and they seemed to be doing a great job of staying on top of her meds and making sure she gets everything taken at the appropriate time. They have a good menu, too. The food that they give her is more than sufficient. I just wished all of the rooms were close to the common area. They have three long wings and we had to be careful on what room we chose for my mom, because she can't walk very far. The day we arrived at the facility, the residents were racing cars that they'd made from the second story down to the first story. They were having a blast doing that. They also have a little garden area for those who want to do gardening, a library, a craft room, and little field trips to Walmart. I think once a week, they'll take them to doctor appointments as well. So, it seems like during the daytime, there's always something going on. They're a little bit more expensive, but it is worth the money."

"Regency Woodland has been a friendly, safe, caring home for my mother for nearly two years. It is small (30-some units) so residents, staff and families really do get to know and enjoy each other. The food is delicious and the environment nicely designed and decorated. The staff does not constantly change -- I have known some of the caregivers for years. I especially appreciate their patience, respect, kindness and good cheer. They always make time to talk with me and give mom their full attention. They greet me and mom by name. They attend to problems quickly. The caregivers and staff seem to be a good, fun- loving team. On family and friends dinner night, they dress for the theme. (I believe Elvis attended the 50's dinner!) There is a hair salon on site and a nice range of activities. I wish we could look after Mom at home but Regency Woodland is the next best place. Five stars in my book. "

"I just moved here to Heron Pointe. I like the little cottage that I am in. I got my own kitchen, two bedrooms, a fridge, dishwasher, microwave, and everything. You can get three meals a day and house cleaning twice a week. Everything you want is here. We do barbecues, bingos, and quite a few activities. The food is good. The staff are good people. They do what they need to do."
