"We really felt welcomed when we first went, and they have been very, very helpful, helping us get everything done for my mother-in-law to be able to move in there. It is a smaller place; it may not be as big as some of the newer ones, but it is a very homey and comfortable feeling and I think it would be a good fit for her. The last time that we were over there, some of the residents were actually baking with someone helping them, and at another time, they were listening to a radio program. They have tables around where they can work on puzzles and they have sitting areas where they can sit together, and they do. They did have a lot of good things going, and every week they take a country drive if any of the residents would want to go. They also plan special events every once in a while -- like go out to lunch or stuff like that -- that the residents are able to sign up for. Their memory care part is kind of small and it is understandable because they don't have many people there, but it would be nicer if the outdoor area had some greenery to it, like maybe some grass and a little more outside scenery."

"We fell in love with the apartment at Fircrest Senior Living. It's beautiful and had a balcony that overlooked the airport of McMinnville. The manager was absolutely fabulous, very friendly, open, led us around, and wants us there. We can take our dog, which is important. They showed me a two-bedroom, but my dad is moving into a studio this coming weekend. They offered three meals a day and had transportation to shopping, doctors, and planned outings. It's the best price for a beautiful, brand-new apartment. The kitchen was all done in stainless steel."

"I love this facility. They are under new management and making improvements everyday. Their staff is friendly but most important compassionate with the residents; and most important meeting each of their needs. They have great daily activites to assure they don't just sit there. They listen when you have a question or concern. They are accessible when you need them too. I've had experience with other facilities in town and this is by far the best. "

"We will be going to Bonaventure at Keizer Station. The thing that made my wife and I say, 'This is it,' is because they have a big 2-bedroom, 1-bath. There is a room for my wife's piano, and it is on the fourth floor. It's the largest unit available there at their campus. When we got there, it just felt right. It had everything that we were hoping to find. We also liked the very friendly attitude of the staff. We had a tour by the Executive Director, and we were treated very royally there. After our tour, we happened to run into one of the residents, and she identified herself as the welcoming person. She told us all the little things that we needed to know to have a good life there. She said, "When you're settled in, I'll come to your place. I'll tell you how you do this and how you do that." It was really nice. It felt very, very welcoming. The Executive Director answered all our questions. She created an offer for us that was attractive. We felt that the price of the room was in our budget. Their list of activities was attractive and not jam packed. Also, within walking distance about two blocks away is a mall that has about 50 stores in it, and that was certainly attractive. We saw people enjoying their meal in the dining area. The menu looked attractive. They have two meals a day that come with the package. For activities, there's a small bowling alley. They were gearing up for a bingo party. In the community part of the building, they dedicated a lot of space for recreation. The staff were very professional at what they were doing. The fact that we had the Executive Director taking us around, allowed us to discuss with her things that were favorable to us coming to that campus. We were very impressed and pleased with how we were handled there by the staff. It's a relatively new place. I think it's five years old, so it seems to be very up to date. It felt like they are on top of anything that needs changing or repairing."

"We selected WindSong at Eola Hills for my mother-in-law. We were happy that they allowed us to go for respite care for a couple of months at first. The place is small and brand new, so it's very nice. They have different activities, like hiking trail, that the residents can do. A chef comes in and helps them plan a menu, then once a month, they have a family dinner actually made by the residents. "

"Ceder Village Assisted Living in Salem, Oregon, really was one of the best assisted living facilities I have ever toured. Beside its close proximity to home and the I-5 corridor, the food was great and the staff was friendly. We had been looking for a place to put dad that was caring and compassionate, and Ceder Village embodied those two characteristics whole-heatedly. They had the friendliest staff I had ever seen. We were greeted within 15 seconds of coming inside and got a personal tour from one of the nurses! Now, I don't say this lightly because I've had to tour over ten different care facilities before we, and my father, choose Ceder Village: For the price and quality of care, Ceder Village cannot be beat. If its still around when i'm of the age that i need an assisted living facialtiy, Ceder Village will be the first on my list! Oh, and if you get a chance try their banana pudding! To die for! "

"When I was a sophomore in high school I decided to gain some experience and volunteer. I choose this retirement home because it was close to home and I have always wanted to experience working with elders. The facility is beautiful. The rooms are very spacious for each resident and they are able to have a large open area to either sit and talk with other residents, play a game or just relax. Another thing that's really great about this facility is the food. The food is way more than I expected. 3 course meals and always a little dessert. The staff are hard working and always make the residents feel comfortable and tended too. If I ever needed to go into a retirement home I would choose that one. "

"I chose Cedar Crest Alzheimer's Special Care Center for my dad. The place was clean and cheerful. It seemed to be well-appointed and homey. They seemed to have a pretty good ratio of staff to residents, and they just seemed to be very accommodating. They were responsive, pleasant, and gracious, and they seemed to be very empathetic with the residents. They had a garden, a beauty shop, a barber shop, a library, and a variety of different spaces for people to come together."

"The Bonaventure of Salem was very nice and very clean. We sounded a buzzer off, and we had three people helping us instantly, so that was very nice. The security system is very good there. The staff members were very nice. We talked to one lady, and she was the one who took us to memory care and the assisted living, and she was very good. They had an outdoor space. The memory care is under lock and key, so to go out into it, they have to have a code. Somebody couldn't just walk out. It was very nice. It had plants in it, and it was very good. They had a theater that was wonderful. We enjoyed it."
