"We toured Heron Pointe Senior Living. We liked everything about it, except that we couldn't afford it right away. They had a two-bedroom, two-bathroom ready for us to move into, but we couldn't swing the payment right then, and I did not want to go into one because it was for both of us. The facility was very nice and clean. We were going to get a cottage that was outside, and we liked it. It was in a small town, and we're used to small towns, so we liked that part too. The person who assisted us has called us once a year since we went in there to see if we were ready to go in or if they could help us."

"It is a very good fit for my mother. The food is great. We just had a little bit of difficulty with the care and socializing at first, but now that she's getting acquainted, we've made it perfectly clear that we didn't want her sitting in her room all the time. They would bring her food to her and we didn't like that. It's a beautiful and clean place. They have craft, exercises, and outings. I'm really impressed with how they decorate for the holidays and how they put flowers and tablecloths on the table and they have beautiful arrangements in the entryway. I love their 50s room where you can have gatherings with other family members. The servers work hard and make sure that everything is taken care of."

"It had a very homey type of living situation. We stayed for lunch, and the food was extremely very good. The size of the studio was quite small, but the one-bedroom size would be very good for me. They had a place next door where the residents could transfer to assisted living."

"It was nice. I like it; it is just too far. It was better than the other place. It's a very large facility. It had a great physical appearance. The staff were really good."

"My grandmother is at The Regent and I have to say this place is fantastic!! The staff genuinely cares about the residents and go out of their way to show honest regard for loved ones and family visiting. Kirsten, Vida and Alicia are too-notch awesome!!!"

"Grandma loved living in this place. It was a pretty place, though somewhat outdated by the time she moved out. She made friends and did some group activities, both in house and field trips. They always celebrated birthdays and she spoke of that often. She always liked the food, a big thing for seniors. The dining room was lovely as we ate with her on numerous occasions. We thought the advantage of her being at this place was that she could get more help as she aged and needed it. As it happened we moved and she moved to a facility closer to us. "

"Emerald Pointe is the nicest looking facility, and the people are very friendly. The food was excellent. The dining area was excellent. They had no idea I was coming, but they accepted me for the tour. They have a lot of activities. They take them to a lot of places, and also bring in people from outside quite a bit. So, there’s a lot of interaction which is nice. They have a library, a classroom type place where they settle in for movies. People were talking, and having a good time in there. I really liked that place. "

"Willamette is a very nice facility and it's in a quiet location. They met my needs. The staff I met there there were very nice and helpful, they answered all of my questions and I was satisfied with that. The grounds were wonderful and they have a lot going for them. The apartments are comparable to those I've seen from other places."

"The tour went well. Room was small, and price was reasonable, but still more than can handle. They did have activities for residents to participate in. "

"I visited Lancaster Village for my parents. It seemed nice but my parents didn't like it as much. The rooms were clean but they were a lot smaller and looked more outdated. The facility was darker. When you go in their hallway, it just seemed darker because, I think, it was an older facility. "

"Jason Lee Manor was nice. It's an older building, but it was clean. It wasn't fancy, but it was a nice place. They have one-bedrooms and studios. The staff who gave me the tour was fabulous. They have a giant library. They have lots of wildlife out there that's cool. They have almost a little park kind of on a creek, and there's like picnic benches and stuff like that. It's a neat little place. It's really pretty."

"I moved into Salem Housing Authority for low income. It's wonderful. It is very, very clean, and they offer activities for the seniors. They have a community room that you can put your name in to have for your family. They have a backyard patio off of that community room with barbecues and stuff, so you can have family and friends over. They have a garden out in the yard. There are a lot of amenities like that, and it's just wonderful. The staff is extremely helpful. It's for independent living, so they do not have a kitchen staff. I have a full one-bedroom and it's huge. The kitchenette is big and the living room is big. The bedroom is huge. The bathroom is all handicap accessible and it's very large. There's so much storage. They have a full pantry and storage closet by the kitchen and another big storage area in the bathroom. They have a potluck coming up. They have morning coffee where they have get-togethers in the community room. Everybody is so friendly. This place would be wonderful for anybody that's low income and can't afford all the big high rise, fancy places. The only thing they don't have, are meals. There must be four or five different companies that are stopping out here and picking up people to take them, whether it's appointments or shopping."

"My visit to Applewood Retirement Community was wonderful. The staff couldn't have been nicer. They were so helpful. Honestly, this is my first choice, but just financially, I don't know how to quite make it work. Although, financially for them it was very reasonable. It was probably the most affordable place that I was able to find. I think my mom would love it. I just can't really say enough about the staff, too. They were amazing. I didn't try the food, but they had a great menu, and then they had alternatives, which I thought was so cool. If a resident really didn't like what the option for the meal was, they had a list of alternate things that they could have instead. The facility was clean, nicely laid out, and it felt homey. They had a nice layout and nice decorations. It felt welcoming. I got to see a studio and a room. The way the rooms were set up was really nice. They actually had two closets and some extra space for keeping things. There was a laundry room, and the game room was really nice. There was a little living room, a walk that goes around the whole complex and it's trees, and a nice outdoor area that's got sort of big benches, tables, and chairs."

"I moved to the Ridge at Madrona Hills last May. The apartment is very nice and very clean. The food is OK, and I went to blackjack once. The environment is nice, and they take good care of things; if there's something you need, they get right on it. The staff is great."
