I have moved to ProMedica Skilled Nursing And Rehabilitation (Sterling Heights). The staff is very nice, and the food that they serve me is very good. It's good value for the money. I'm in a private room and it's very clean. I'm going to be getting rehab treatment, though it's not a rehab room, just a private bedroom with a bed and a bathroom.

The supervisory staff at this place is terrible and it trickles down through the nursing and care staff. I was here six weeks two of which were added because my I medications were mishandled. When my doctor requested information on my IVs he was not given the proper information. New or changed medication from my doctor or their doctor take a minimum of two days to receive. If they run out of a medication you are taking sometimes they will re-order and sometimes they just don't give it to you. You have to watch everything. I could go on and on about how poorly this place is run. Bottom line I wouldn't take a dog to this place. It's a train wreck.

BEWARE!! Look else where!!!! My father has been to this facility a few times due to no other facilities have availability ! I am completely baffled on how this place has residents. Not only has my father been treated with disrespect, I myself witnessed it every day, I am there. He is not checked on or changed within a timely manner. He had his room light on for his nurse for over 45 minutes for a diaper change. That is completely ridiculous. He also can not cut up his food or drink without a lid & straw!! Numerous of times, His food trays are not within reach or his water cup has no lids or straw. How the heck is a man that can not walk and barley move supposed to eat or drink. Not to mention as I was sitting in my father’s room, his nurse came into his room and used his bathroom for her Bowel movement. Down right wrong!! His room was not cleaned for over a week. I have tried working with the office staff to just get his file pushed aside and not worked on for over a week. Plus they never call family or POA when transferring to hospital.. I could go on.. look elsewhere

This place is awful!! My Grandfather was here for rehab after taking a significant fall! Rehab started good & the therapists were doing a great job! However the nursing staff & doctors affiliated are another story. My Grandfather was walking 90+ feet on Monday & by Wednesday he calls me to tell me he can't move his legs. I arrived just before 9pm to find that he in fact really couldn't move his legs! I tell them I'm calling 911 & having him transported to the hospital. The nurse says I need clearance from the doctor! I found out they were aware the entire day that he had become paralyzed!! They gave him an ice pack for his back! After I had him transported to Troy Beaumont the doctors there informed me he had a bacterial pneumonia that causes paralysis! No way would I recommend this place to anyone! Promedics Troy turned out even worse!!!

This is obviously NOT the facility for fragile seniors who need assistance with ADL (activity of daily living such as daily washing of body) particularly Stroke Victims. For example, my aunt had a stroke which affected her left side. She is left handed. Thus, she is unable to wash up without assistance. In short, why is it necessary for family members to Call regarding hygiene concerns of love ones who are confined to this facility. Mentioning rudeness and lack of compassion by facility nursing staff. During this pandemic a nursing facility is the last place one desires for elderly love ones especially since visitation is NOT Allowed. Please note that this is NOT the first or the only NEGATIVE review of Heartland. Nursing staff should be cognizant that the public is watching and noting complaints made by their elderly love one.

My brother is currently an inpatient and has bed sores, also known as pressure ulcers or decubitus ulcers. Bed sores are 100% preventable. Automatic lawsuit. We are looking into it. Meanwhile he has had treatment, but needs a alternating pressure mattress.

I am not a fan. My dad has Parkinson’s and was transferred to this facility after a bad infection requiring IVs. It took over a week to get anyone from the facility to talk to my mom about his care. We had been promised updates and in a 6 week stay received a total of two updates. The social worker failed to order the equipment needed to care for my dad at home in time, so my 75 year old mother was forced to call several medical supply companies to get a bed, wound care supplies, and home health care. My father complained frequently about the food. Due to his Parkinson’s, he is on a very timed medication schedule. The facility refused to follow the schedule and more than once forgot to bring him his medication. My father fell when trying to use the bathroom. The aide who finally helped him back into bed did not report the fall to the nurse. As a result, my father developed an additional wound from the fall, forcing him to stay in this awful facility an additional two weeks. I’ve never been so disgusted with myself for allowing my dad to be placed here for rehab. I should have done better research and insisted on calling places myself rather than allowing the hospital social worker to do such a lousy job.

I’m going to start of by saying this has got to be the worst rehab center ever! My grandma was in this rehab and was treated absolutely poorly. She was on the second floor! I don't recommend anyone to take their loved ones there! She went in with broken ribs. She would ring the bell for them to help her to the restroom and no nurse Would come in. They would bring her food while she was sleeping and take it without her eating because she was resting. The nurses would tell us that she wasn’t eating. But how would you eat when you are sleeping and after waking up there’s no food? Her roommate would help her out more then the nurses did! She was neglected! Later we find out that there was a sick nurse with covid 19 and no one in the rehab was tested for the virus. After being there for weeks she devolved a cough. Her Dr. Said that she would take care of her. After so many days passed my grandma still had a cough. And yet was not tested for the virus. Then we get a phone call my grandma was in the hospital. Hospital tested her and found out she had covid 19. Hospital also mentioned that she should have been tested for the virus. She feel in a coma And passed. This Rehad has NO idea what they are doing! They have very poor decision in what they are doing. Very unprofessional nurses And doctors!

This was the worst place I've ever been to. They have A LOT of unhappy & MEAN Nurses & Nurses Aides. They kept messing up my medications & didn't get it right until a day before I left. They said if I left without their approval I couldn't use one of their wheelchair or walkers to get to their front door to leave even if my family brought my own wheelchair. They wouldn't allow them to bring them in!!!! The food is terrilbe¡¡!!!!!! Too many problems to mention. Administration pretend they care but do nothing about it!!!!

This place is aweful. Most nurses come from a temp agency, the food is terrible, and the care is terrible. Most call lights are ignored for hours, people yelling for help gets ignored. If you put your call light on to go to the bathroom you may soil them before they ever get to you. I feel so bad for the residents here.

If I could of chose negative stars, I would have. This place is the absolute worst!!! My father has been in the Sterling Hgts location twice and was treated terribly both times! The staff are ignorant and lazy, they completely ignore you even when you're directly asking them a question. They also don't communicate with each other and even the administrator treated our family like garbage. On top of all of that, they threatened on numerous occasions to kick my father out because he wasn't participating in physical therapy, all the while keeping him so sedated that he could barely keep his head up. My father still needs rehab but we've recently removed him from this awful place and are relocating him.

I was a resident at this facility and even though the Rehab part was great the rest of the facility’s amenities are not. The food was deplorable at most unless it was cold cereal or a sandwich. Some of the nurses were great but some really couldn’t care less about us. Now the aides, we’ll one in particular was fantastic and the others were mediocre. Don’t really expect to get a good nights sleep because you won’t even with your door closed as there are some aides who announce themselves at 3:00am and flip the lights on without disregard for the residents. I could go on and on, but in a nutshell my experience was not the best and I couldn’t wait to get out.

The level of caring and compassion the staff has for the residents. how prompt the staff is at addressing your needs. The private room was great. Very roomy and private for family and friend visits. The activity aspect was full of different games, movies and parties.

My mom was in Heartland Sterling Rehab for almost four weeks....... This center is very clean and the staff is nice, HOWEVER I would NOT recommend unless your loved one has very very little rehab needed and very minor medical issues. The food is very poor, my mom lost 10 plus pounds and went from weak to weaker. She was in need of an IV due to a medical condition. From the time I first mentioned it ..... it was DAYS (waiting for an order, waiting for it to be read, stat does not mean stat, then waiting for a nurse - they are in a meeting, then she became so dehydrated they could not start the IV, needed to call an outside source and doesn’t know how long it will take!!!!!) I called 911. I was told her levels were in danger zone. I was told by a staff member the ambulance might not be covered !!! WHO CARES!!!!! We are talking about someone’s life!!!!! Earlier that day she passed out in front me...I heard a staff member say put her back in bed she is a DNR. Very disappointed and disgusted!!!!!!

My mom fell out of her wheel chair and fractured her pelvis in 2 places while here in the fall of 2017. Staff allowed her to sleep all night in wheel chair. Staff also was very elusive and rude when asked any questions. If you love your relative or friend do NOT take them to Heartland. I also caught another resident who clearly had mental issues heading down the elevator while staff was just hangiing out at the desk oblivious to patients needs. Horrible experience

Our Aunt spent 4 weeks in Heartland Sterling Heights, she had exceptional care from the therapy department Jennifer (PT) and Liz (OT) were both great. One of the nurses (Shannon) was another employee that was dedicated to that facility. I wish I could say the same for the Nurse Aides but I can't, they were very much below the standard expected for a rehab facility. I would recommend this facility with the suggestion you go there for the therapy and not count on any of the aides for assistance.

My mother was only at Hartland Sterling heights a few days and our family was so upset by the way she and other patients were treated, we pulled her out and had her taken to another rehab yesterday. From the first hour we were there, we were met by a nurses assistant with a terrible attitude. She never smiled once and was very short tempered not only with the people she was there being paid to care for, but also to the families. She knew I was aware of her actions and apologised explaining she was just having a "bad day". Really? Most of the people she's supposed to provide care for are certainly not have a great day. I'm guessing she has a lot of "bad days", because she showed up The next day with The same attitude. The last straw came when my mother asked for help in the restroom and she was so rough, she almost lost her balance. Not good for a patient with a non weight bearing leg. My mother's roommate cried and said she doesn't like me and I don't know why. People in the care of these rehab centers are mostly elderly, and extreamly vulnerable. We spoke the the head nurse to discuss the situation, she said she would make sure a supervisor would be given our complaint because the things she we were telling her, in her words, "bordering abuse". The next day, no complaint had been documented. Response time for the patient's was extremely slow, and the food was terrible.

The Dr at the facility in Sterling Heights doesn't care about the patients. I had requested numerous times for my mother to have her blood drawn since she had already been transfused while in the hospital- it was not done. I received a call from one of the nurses they were ,transporting her back to hospital because her blood levels dropped to 4. I spoke with the Administrator letting him know and all he could say was he was sorry that it happened. As far as the Dr. - the worst- he told me after this incident that the facility was not a hospital! The Dr. comes in once a week! The only thing good there are the physical therapists and some of the nurses and aides!

My wife and I visited eight nursing facilities before making a decision on where my 91 year old mother should spend her rehab time after surgery. We made a checklist and evaluated each for cleanliness, staff, and the rehab facility itself. In addition, we took into account recommendations from friends who have either stayed in a nursing facility or had relatives who had. Of the eight we visited, Heartland come out on top in all categories. My mother stayed at Heartland for a number of weeks... her care was exceptional !!! All of the staff were kind, attentive, and very professional. I would highly recommend Heartland Health Care to anyone who needs professional rehabilitation and wants to be treated with respect and dignity.

Took my mom there for rehab after back surgery. She was in extreme pain and could not move or do anything with out assistance. When she arrived they put her in a room anyone barely came in or attended to her needs. She layed in bed all night barley able to move or go to the bathroom. When someone came in she ask for assistance to help sit up but was told " I'm not hurting myself and would not help". She needed a Walker to get up would not give it to her until her observation which at 1:00 the following day was not done. Needless to say I would never recommend this place there care was very shameful to do to sick people. We moved her the following day to a much better place that attended to her as they should.

I would give this facility 10 stars if I could!! My mother is 93 years old and had a WONDERFUL experience there!! The staff was like family and was very caring and loving to her!! I visited her every day and when I'm done with this review most of the staff will know who I am!! Liz, Jess, Sarah, Shannon, Brittany, Victoria, Robin, Marcia, Ron, Susan, and last but not least Sophia at the front desk. Every time I went everyone had smiles on there faces!! If I never need to go to a facility I will definitely go to HEARTLAND!! Also, Tanya and Jonelle are wonderful also!! I love you all and God Bless you!!!

I went to Heartland Health Care. It was beautiful, but it did not have the facilities that my husband needed. The rooms were not a nice as the place my husband stayed. They did not have the room care nurse which my husband needed. However, they were all very good. I had a very nice tour. It looked like a nice place. It was relatively new, but I thought it was more for assisted living.

We had a horrible experience. We were pushed to make serious life altering decisions immediately without all the information. Staff seemed offended when we asked questions about the choice and didn't just go with their decision. Communication is horrible. The social workers are extremely unhelpful and don't return phone calls. A decision to discharge my dad was made on Thursday - we found out the following Tuesday because a therapist slipped and told my dad (she wasn't supposed to). They were not going to inform us until they legally had to - 2 days before discharge. I don't understand why they wouldn't want to give the family as much time as possible to plan the discharge. Horrible!! Would never use this place again.

My mother’s care went well when she was at Heartland. The nurses and the aides were good; her therapists were very good. The therapy department was very good, I thought. The food looked a little bit to be desired, though. They were having some staffing issues while she was there, so we tried to be as understanding as we could. Because they were short-staffed then, they had a little difficulty with their kitchen. But other than that, she got very good care. They were very attentive. She’s never lacked for anything. They were always there when she needed them, so I can’t complain too much. They’re still getting their act together, I think, because they’re so new, but they’re trying. Upkeep was excellent. I would say that I'd give them probably a five (being the highest) on that because it was very nice, very clean, and everything’s well taken care of. She was very comfortable in there. They were right there to answer, and if they couldn’t do something for her right away, they always came to see what she needed. Then they would be right back as soon as they took care of priorities.
