My father was a resident of this facility until earlier this year when he ended up in the ER septic and with aspiration pneumonia and a terrible UTI. The Bayou staff tried to tell me that he might've had a stroke or a seizure, but when I spoke to the ER staff, they told me the harsh truth: that he had been brought to them covered in feces and wearing two full Depends diapers. He even had feces caked in his beard, which had to be shaved off. This facility took advantage of my trust, since I lived far away and could not check on my dad all the time. Anything I sent him tended to be "misplaced" or "taken by other residents", although my dad said he knew staff was taking things from him, too. I mistakenly always gave them notice before I traveled to see him, so they put up a good front when I was there and totally fooled me. I am not posting this out of spite, but to save someone else from having their loved one go through what my father had to endure.

My husband moved into Bayou Gardens, and the first night they had a fire which scared everyone. The second night he opened the front door and went out. The third night, he was stuck in someone's else's room. The fifth night, I took him out. It looked homey when I visited, and my husband said the food was delicious.
