The Best Assisted Living Communities in Hillsborough County, FL

"It is a very big community. They have several floors. It is the best one I've visited. It's very clean and very well structured. The staff was very nice and seemed to be concerned about our situation. However, in the end, they couldn't help us because of my brother's criminal record in the past. The dining area was set up like a hotel. The private room was nice and roomy, and it had a bathroom. The residents all seemed happy and engaged in whatever activity they were doing."

"My mother will be moving into Angels Senior Living at New Tampa memory care unit. So far, so good. We have to move our own furniture in, but the room was clean and the size was good for us. The staff was nice, and they have good service. They have activities, but very simple ones. They have everything inside. They're pretty new."

"The staff and the quality of care that Brookdale Bayshore provides for the residents stood out to me. I had a direct experience because I had an 86 year old cousin that resided there for a year and a half before she passed. I had lunch there, and the food was good. You have a choice because they have a selection. They have a selection plus a salad bar and wine for dinner. They have the quality of care plus the extra-curricular activities that they provide the client. On Fridays in the afternoon, they have a community happy hour. They either have a pianist that comes in or another musician, and they have music provided at that time. I was very happy with the tour. "

"Shady Palms is too small, and most of the people are 10 times my age, so I don't feel comfortable over there. It was the only place that I knew about, but I just feel out of place when I go there. The staff was very professional; they're very nice people. It is just that the residents were not up to my level of illness. The living environment was very good. They had a gazebo; it was outdoor, but it was more screened, so it looked very nice. The inside was nice. The residents were kept occupied with activities. "

"I toured the Savannah Court of Brandon. The staff is very nice, and so are the nurse and the director. They're all very nice. It's clean. It's a nice apartment. They're very good. If I sit down as a guest, I do not have to pay for the food. The food was good. I was there at Thanksgiving and Christmas, and they celebrated birthdays. I think they did a wonderful job, and the layout is very nice, too."

"Hawthorne was nice, but it had too many people, and I thought Mom would be better off in a smaller place. It had a central area with four segments around and a nice porch with rockers on it where they could relax. "

"Aldea Green assisted living looked very inviting. It's easy to navigate because everything was just off one main location. It has an upper and lower level, and it has an elevator. It was very nicely laid out. What I liked about the tour of the facility is that they incorporated a lot of the staff members. We met members of the management team, members of the maintenance team, several members of the kitchen, including the chef, and we also met the housekeeping. It was very interactive and lots of different staff members were involved. We saw lots of staff while we were there interacting with the residents as well. The room shown to us was very nice and comfortable. From what I saw, they're almost like an efficiency apartment. It had a kitchenette, a separate bath, and space where you could divide up your sleeping area, and a possible sitting or living area. We tried a dessert and their dining area was spacious right now because of COVID. It was open and there were lots of windows. It was a nice dining area, and very clean. The chef that we met has been there for 25 years. They seem to be very accommodating. When we were there, people were lining up at the dining area, waiting to go in so it seemed like it was a popular thing to eat in the dining area rather than eating in your room or needing something you could simply microwave. It smells wonderful too. The outside and the inside looked very well-kept, up-to-date, and more modern. We even met the head of maintenance at the building and it was nice. We saw their activities room and they also have a common area where they have social gatherings. They have a separate place, I believe, for reading. They had a salon and a place where they got their haircut and things like that as well. I would have chosen that place for my mom out of the places that I've toured."

"I toured Brookdale Carrollwood, it was very nice, but it was not in my friend's price range. We can never afford to be there, but we got some very good information, so it was well worth the visit. It was a very upscale assisted living place. The people had a number of activities that they were doing. There was a library, and they were waiting for a bus to take them somewhere."

"My father was in The Colonnade at Northdale for a few weeks before he passed away. They're very good, highly recommended. They're very friendly people, it's very clean and they're very helpful. They offered me a sample meal, but I did not have a chance to try it. The value of the money is very good. Everybody was in masks, wherever the patients were, staff or visitors. They were constantly cleaning and disinfecting the place."

"I visited The Crossings at Riverview. Their one-bedroom room was like a regular apartment. It had much more square footage than the other place. The building seemed a little older, but the apartments were nice. Some of them actually had a view of the Alafia River. The views out the windows were really beautiful. They had a theater, a gym, and all of the amenities. It felt a little more like a rest home and a little less like someplace where you could have fun. When we went in, there were two ladies in wheelchairs that were sitting by the elevator. They said, "We love it here." We asked, "What do you like about this place best?" She said, "They come and check on you if they don't see you." They're very attentive. They loved it there."

"My uncle was here. He was very happy there, and loved it. He was always nice and clean, good, and everything was always clean and taken care of. He said the food is very good. The dining area was beautiful; it's a separate area with a bunch of tables, it looks so nice, and it looked homey."
