I went to look at Chapman Manor. They were excellent. It was an older facility. They had a nice dining room. A lot of people there seemed like they were happy. I liked Diana. She was nice. Everything looked nice. They have a garden and a patio area. The facility looked clean. They've done a great job.

I like Chapman Manor. It is 25 miles away from my home, so distance is a challenge, but I think that they have what we need for my father. I like their shared rooms. They have two sinks, one to the right when you walk in and then you got one back to the left, so they share that. They have private rooms too. The only thing that they share are the bathrooms and I love that. The young lady who assisted me during the tour was very informative, very enthusiastic, and very energetic. She made it easy for me to enjoy the facility and made me feel comfortable that my dad was going to be moving there and being taken care of. I didn't deal with the staff as much. I saw the staff, and I walked past them. They appeared to be readily available. I was not able to taste their food, but I could tell that the food smelled good. The one thing that we look for first in a facility is cleanliness and it smelled clean. It smelled like old people because there were old people there, but it didn't smell like urine, like some of the places that I had visited. Had it smelled like urine, I would not have my dad go there. Everybody was doing something. It was busy, people watching TV, and people were doing arts and crafts. It was sort of inviting.

We toured Chapman Manor. It was a beautiful place. My dad and his wife like it. The people were very kind. It was a very nice place. They have a church service there. They have a karaoke night, they have bingo and a puzzle area. The staff was very nice. We had lunch with them.

We are choosing them for my dad because it is very family-oriented. I could tell that the residents are very happy there. When you walk into the foyer, it's very welcoming, very bright, and very clean. The staff is very attentive and welcoming. They have several activities throughout the month. The residents looked pleasantly involved with the activities. One of the things that stood out to me when I toured the place was that there's a specific day for families to come and visit, and I appreciate that. For Grandparents' Day, they had the place full of grandkids and I thought that was cool. The place was very clean and very aesthetically pleasing. As I was walking out, some of the residents voluntarily came up to me and told me that my dad will be very happy there, so that's when I knew because that made a big difference.

It was very good. It's a very nice place, people are very, very nice. I can't get hold of them right now because I was going to double-check with them if they would do Medicaid or not. It's a very clean place. It seemed like a nice place for my mother, but I'm just trying to do the money part, and they were helpful. I'm not able to get hold of anybody, and it was open till eight, but now for some reason, they're closing at five. The staff was very good, very nice, and very helpful. Everyone was very friendly and they showed me the room, talked about the nursing staff, how many they have on-call, that they have a lot of activities, that the chef would try to talk to each resident. They usually have a set meal, if there's a little bit of preference, they do try to meet that. If somebody has some specific issues, maybe they don't eat pork or something, he'll try to accommodate them reasonably to their needs. So that was nice. They showed me a piece of paper with all the activities they do, and it looks like there's a lot there. There's playing bingo. I talked to a couple of the residents and one resident has been there for 12 years and she said she liked it. They seemed to have pretty good security.

It was wonderful and had a very homey feeling. I was impressed. Carolyn, who showed me around, was great, very informative, and she wasn't pushy at all. She wants the right fit for my mom, which I thought was great. I really liked it. It's not the fanciest, it's kind of middle of the road, but it was very clean, and nice. They had a studio, a one-bedroom, and a two-bedroom. The two-bedrooms available were very large. The studios, she said, vary a little bit in size. I saw several of them, and they were decent-size studios. I did not see a one-bedroom because they were all occupied. They had arts and crafts, a movie room, a library, a sitting area outside for the memory part, a dining room, and a physical therapy room that had exercise equipment. I looked at the assisted living, but they also showed me the memory care for future use. I did get to meet the arts and crafts people, but I didn't get to meet any of the nursing staff.
