"My mother is under total care at Central Tampa Assisted Living. The level of care is the best that I can get. I will recommend it for people with mental problems. The food is OK. They have shared rooms with two people to a room. It is a facility that deals with mental problems, and as a result, they have all types of people there. "

"Promise Pointe is five years old. It's bright, airy, sunny and happy. I was very impressed with that. It's a little bit higher class of people. They're more golf course people. They were a little bit better dressed. They were out and about. They had just finished an exercise class, and they were going to do a pumpkin decorating in the afternoon. It was beautiful. The problem with that one was you had to walk five miles to smoke. That was the biggest downfall of that whole place. Nevertheless, it was very inviting, and the facilities were nice. The staff who gave us the tour had been there since day one. He was very happy there. He loved the people. He knew everything about it. He could answer any question. He was very good, and I didn't feel like he was trying to sell me anything. The studios were all about the same amount. They're all between 335 and 355 square feet at every place I looked. But this one had a little bit nicer kitchen area than the one at the other place. The bathroom was good, too. It had a nice closet. They had a hair salon. There were several game rooms and several family rooms. In the lobby, there was a seating area, so you didn't have to entertain in your room."

"The Canopy at Walden Woods was a fairly new facility. It was a smaller place and I liked it. The location was a bit more private. The rooms seemed clean and well taken care of. I liked its price as well. I liked the lady that gave me the tour."

"I'm a resident of Brookdale Bayshore and I have no problems so far, everything is pretty good. My room is fine, and so is the food. They have adequate activities for the residents, they provide a lot of entertainment, play Bingo, and there are different committees for the residents. One thing I like about this place is that the view is unlike any other. When you look outside through your window, the grounds, and the scenery here is just splendid."

"I am a friend of a resident of Adams House of Tampa. In general I thought the facility was better than average. When you first pull up, you will notice that the grounds are not well cared for as they could be and there is definitely not enough parking for visitors since the employees take up most of the parking spaces. I do like that you can sit out on the porch in chairs and visit and I do like the fact that Adams House of Tampa is in a nice neighborhood. Once you go inside though there is no private visitation area, the seating is next to the front door and only a few places to sit. Also the chairs and sofa did not smell fresh and did have stains on cushions. The residents did like their meals as everything is home cooked and looks and smells very appetizing. I noticed the staff were very friendly and really seemed to care about the residents. All in all, I would definitely recommend Adams House of Tampa to everyone. "

"Everything was good about Best Care Senior Living at Saint Joseph. The only thing I didn't like too much about it was that they didn't accept my grandfather's benefits because he only received $900 and everything there was from $4000 and up, but they helped a lot in figuring things out to look for other places for him. So, they were great. The facility was clean. The building was a nice structure. It had a nice atmosphere. It was calm. They had nice-sized rooms. They were pretty big."

"It is a very big community. They have several floors. It is the best one I've visited. It's very clean and very well structured. The staff was very nice and seemed to be concerned about our situation. However, in the end, they couldn't help us because of my brother's criminal record in the past. The dining area was set up like a hotel. The private room was nice and roomy, and it had a bathroom. The residents all seemed happy and engaged in whatever activity they were doing."

"We chose SeaCoast at Uptown Oaks for my parents because of a combination of things. How big the apartments were, the price, and how friendly and personable the staff was. They're very flexible, warm, and personable. The apartment was large and affordable, but I'm not that impressed with the food. They have a lot of activities, they take them places and they have a lot going on. It's pretty nice and peaceful, with a lot of shade and a lot of greenery. It's very comfortable. I think they could use a little more upkeep."

"My mother will be moving into Angels Senior Living at New Tampa memory care unit. So far, so good. We have to move our own furniture in, but the room was clean and the size was good for us. The staff was nice, and they have good service. They have activities, but very simple ones. They have everything inside. They're pretty new."

"We look after lady friend whom has no family and through the last 14 years we've known her this is the 4th assisted living facility we've moved her too. The first one we were very happy with but it was taken over by a larger company and prices were raised beyond her level of affordability. The 2nd and 3rd homes were sister homes owned by a family whom we thought provided good care but after her dissatisfaction with the way she was treated, the quality of food and the friendliness and attitudes of the staff we decided to look for a better place. Another friend of ours told us about Shady Palms. It was a place where his mother lived out her life. They were very happy with Shady Palms. We finally decided to give it a try and now after 4 months our friend is very happy and comfortable. The most outstanding characteristic of Shady Palms is the friendly, caring and courteous staff. Unfortunately our friend could not afford a private room but shares a room with another lady. Shady Palms management placed her with a very nice roommate and they both get along fine. The rooms are small but each one has its own bathroom. It appears that the residents are encouraged to enjoy the larger living spaces in the home. There are many activities going on all the time. Other than the inside spaces there a a couple of screened in outdoor large porches where people can come for fresh air. Our friend also has relayed to us she seems to have more freedom here which in the last facility she felt she didn't have. Also she relays to us that the food is so much better. Last she truly enjoys the fact that during the late night someone checks in on her to make sure everything is fine. As you can probably already tell.... we are very happy with Shady Palms. "From the moment I walked in the door with my mom and my husband, I was impressed! There was an "at home" feeling, along with seeing residents sitting out on the front porch, and in the main entry to the building. We were taken on a tour of the community, and introduced to the director of the community, nursing and even the maintenance manager. One thing that my husband and I were impressed with was we were encouraged to sit and talk to the current residents, and the feedback we got was what we needed to hear. You can't make everyone happy, but the large majority of them loved living here. Even one resident came back from another location in Sun City because she loved it here and felt it was her home. We placed mom here, and I couldn't be happier with the choice. Coming from a medical family background, I'm quite happy that we get contacted on a regular basis about anything that might come up with mom and her medical care. I'm there several times a week, and her room and bathroom are always clean, and I have to admit, I will join mom for meals now and then, and have been quite impressed. She's been there for quite some time now, and I'm still just as happy as I was back when we first brought her here. The only thing I would recommend as a change, is some of the happy hour entertainment on Friday's needs to go (get better groups). They had a great group there this past Friday, and it was fun to see the residents up and dancing! No matter what my viewpoint, the residents seem to love their happy hour time, and I never see less than 30 people there. I'd like to commend the staff for making this feel like home to my mom! "

"Legacy at Highwoods Preserve was very good. They gave us a great tour and really took the time to show us the different rooms that could be available and everything. They had a number of people in the lobby doing different activities. It was very good. The lady was very helpful and has called me twice to check up and see how things are doing. Their rooms were more like studios. "

"It was wonderful and had a very homey feeling. I was impressed. Carolyn, who showed me around, was great, very informative, and she wasn't pushy at all. She wants the right fit for my mom, which I thought was great. I really liked it. It's not the fanciest, it's kind of middle of the road, but it was very clean, and nice. They had a studio, a one-bedroom, and a two-bedroom. The two-bedrooms available were very large. The studios, she said, vary a little bit in size. I saw several of them, and they were decent-size studios. I did not see a one-bedroom because they were all occupied. They had arts and crafts, a movie room, a library, a sitting area outside for the memory part, a dining room, and a physical therapy room that had exercise equipment. I looked at the assisted living, but they also showed me the memory care for future use. I did get to meet the arts and crafts people, but I didn't get to meet any of the nursing staff."
