"Sunstar Village is an awful place. It's small. I think they have like maybe 30 people. They can only handle up to 50, but they are about half full, and I can see why. The place is old and dingy, and they have very limited staff. I found that the security is not very good. They did offer me a private room with a nice bathroom, but everything is older. I met the owner. He was in his office, and he's a young guy. It needs a lot of help. It's pretty run-down. I saw a lot of residents in wheelchairs slumped over. I saw that in every room. I didn't find it to be very inviting or anything like that. The staff was kind of distracted, like she didn't really want to give the tour, even though I scheduled it. She obviously forgot because I showed up and she asked me why I was there. She was nice enough, but not upbeat, just kind of going through the motions. All I saw was the outside place where the smokers go. They have an activity room that doubles as a dining room. They don't have a separate wing for memory care. They mix them all up."

"We chose Sweet Water At Largo, and it’s a very nice place. It’s small with just about 40 beds. They have a family atmosphere. The staff is very good, and their food is good as well. "

"I really like it. It was very good. They were very helpful, nice, and friendly. They had balconies and enclosed screened patios. The grounds were beautiful. The apartments were very nice and large. They take you out to dinner if you want to go. They have a crafts room and a reading room. "

"My mother moved into Seasons Belleair. It's a great place. I'm very happy with the decision. They have good activities for the residents, and Mom seems to be happy there. The place is awesome. The staff is awesome. They're very friendly. They really seem to care about the residents. They work hard getting them involved in activities. They're just a great bunch of people. Everybody that works there seems to really enjoy their job. Mom likes the food, and it looks good. One day they were having live music, Mom's music, and she likes to dance. She's in a wheelchair, and they were dancing with her in the wheelchair, and she had a great time. It was really cool, they got everybody up there, involved. That's the first time I saw her laugh and smile like that since she fell. She also played a card game called UNO, and she enjoyed that. It's clean, well maintained, and a locked facility, this way the residents can't just wander off, it's very secure."

"Lake Seminole Square looked good to me. It had different buildings, and one building was independent. I met some nice people there. The host was very nice. She showed me two- and one-bedroom apartments, but I liked the two-bedroom better. I had lunch there, and the dessert was excellent. It's near shopping centers. It was a nice facility."

"Magnolia Gardens have very nice and very expensive rooms. They had crafts, a beautiful dining area, a TV area, and a lot of socials going on. The staff was very nice. We even talked to a few clients there; they were very nice and seemed to be very happy. "

"I took a tour of Freedom Square of Seminole. It was a much large place than anywhere else I've been with a lot of different options as far as the kind of care you can receive. The staff who gave me the tour was wonderful, his name was Eric. I thought the rooms were a little overpriced, it was a little higher-priced than anywhere else, and the location just won't work for us. They had a very nice dining area, they had a lot of amenities and a lot of things for the people or their patients to do. They have bingo, cards, a swimming pool, they can go sit at the pool and they take them on trips and everything."

"I went to tour here. It was nice, but not someplace that we would put my mom because it was sort of dingy. It wasn't dirty, it's just not bright and cheery, and the residents that were there were not people that she would connect with. It felt like there were a lot of men, and I just didn't get a good feeling of the place. But it wasn't that it wasn't clean or that they weren't pleasant, because they were. They just got bought out and they just put a new roof in and they're doing some painting and they're going to remodel the rooms and they're putting new flooring in. So they're going in the right direction. It just wasn't a big enough community. The person who gave the tour was very informative, she was very pleasant, she was just good and I liked her. They don't have enough activities from what I gathered from the staff. It sounded like they do a lot of things, but not really anything my mom would be interested in, so it wouldn't work for her. They just bring entertainment in and they do activities with them."

"We went to Regency Oaks. It's a first-class facility. The staff is very accommodating. I liked the cleanliness and friendliness of the staff. The apartments are the perfect size, especially the two-bedroom ones. They had an exercise facility, which is important to me, and they had groups and clubs that we're interested in. It's a fine location, and it's easy to get to. We did dine there, and we have friends that are residents. The food was excellent."

"The Oaks of Clearwater was a high rise. We were very impressed with this one. It was very nice, very clean, and I couldn't find anything that was wrong with it. We did have a meal there, and it was very good. "

"My tour at Oak Manor Senior Living Community was very good. They were very pleasant and provided a lot of information. I like their setup there in terms of their little villas, and there are little gardens outside. It's very well set up and very well managed. It's much bigger than I anticipated. Their services cover all your facilities. They even have a phone line that you could use if you want to have a landline in. Then for an upgrade, you get three meals a day, and for another upgrade, you get three meals a day plus laundry and housekeeping. Their location is good. For me, it's a little far out because I prefer St. Petersburg, but if you like the outside area, it would probably be an excellent location. Because the grounds are very nice and it's close to some things that you'd want to go to. Plus, they provided transportation for medical appointments and things like that."
