"My mother is in The Oaks for almost a month now. The caretakers are all very kind and attentive. We are very pleased with the care that my mother gets. My mother has a shared room with two women, but she has her own bedroom with her own door. They take her on outings and activities, which she is very happy with. They have a deck because it is very near a water view. With supervision, she sits out on the deck."

"It is another outstanding place, there are coach houses as opposed to one building, and each has fourteen residents and staff that takes care of them. Each coach house or villa is identical. As they change from the level of care, there’s no real change for them because the units looked the same. The staff was very friendly and very loving toward the people that were there. The sales rep was very nice and professional. The grounds were beautiful and closed off so the people can’t go outside. They had volunteers coming in that day, so they had that program. The only issue was it was out of my budget."

"The gentleman who took me around The Barrington Senior Living was Ryan. I also met the staff, the residents and they were all very, very nice and informative. The residents there were clean, dressed, and moving about. One of the ladies sat down at the baby grand piano and played for me. It was extraordinary (they have a baby grand piano in their lobby). She just sat down and started playing like she was on a concert stage. I didn't get to try their food yet, but Ryan said whenever I come back with my friend if she wants to come down and see the place, we can certainly go into their little restaurant. They don't have certain times when people have to eat. You can go in at any time and get waited on like you're at a restaurant. They are still doing renovations, but from what I saw, the facility was beautiful and clean. It smelled nice, which I'm a big fan of in places where old people live as some of them can be pretty disgusting, but this place was clean. It was lovely."

"I toured Elison Senior Living Community of Pinecrest. The meal was very satisfactory. I was impressed with the rooms. It was all good. The staff who gave the tour was very knowledgeable. She answered all my questions, and she also answered questions I hadn't thought of, so that was good, too. They had a social birthday dinner, so they had those once a month. They had lots of activities like dominoes."

"Freedom Inn in Tarpon Springs is the BEST ALF facility in Pinellas County from my view and experience with my 86 year old mother. The entire staff has a very strong "PASSION" for the level of care all residents receive. Several staff members have told me that this is not a job, as they are in this field providing care for individuals that need assistance because they love what they do. The rooms are ample in size and very clean and well maintained with a full time staff. Walking into the building you get the feeling as if you are walking into a country club or the pro shop at a nice resort. It is not a 5 star resort, if you want that I can suggest the Ritz in Amelia Island paying $500 + per night! Many staff members are present in the main lobby which is near a large activity room that seems to always have people in it with some type of activity going on. Every month there is a "FAMILY DINNER" featuring food from a different country that is the theme country for the month and is talked about several times during the month so residents can learn more about different cultures. The food is presented and served family style, always "OUTSTANDING"! Each resident is asked to invite as many family members and friends to this great event that helps all residents and their friends and family members to get to know each other. There are trips that are scheduled for shopping and doctor appointments along with great local trips that the activities director comes up with that are fun and safe for the residents that choose to get on a bus and go to a Tampa Bay Rays game, The Hard Rock Casino, a concert in a county park and local restaurants to name a few. My mother lived in two other facilities in the area prior to moving to Freedom Inn. The other facilities were larger, had swimming pools and nice amenities along with good food. They DO NOT stand up to the level of care that Freedom Inn and all staff members provide each resident and the family members. It's a matter of doing what they do because they all love what they do. In my view you will not find a facility that is more caring from the executive director, our first contact going down the list of all employees. I am always greeted by a friendly receptionist, the sales & marketing person who presented our tour, listened to what my mothers needs were so I was able to determine if Freedom Inn was the correct choice for my mother as her life changed after a fall in April, 2014 needing additional care and medication management. After 6 months, I know most all of the "Freedom Inn Team" and they know my first name as well. The best comment I can pass on is from my mother's nurse at her primary care physician's office that she sees on a as need basis but on average once a month. When the nurse told me that in all her years in working for a primary care physician, she has not been recognized by name when calling to speak with one of the LPN's or the receptionist at any other facility. The staff knows who my mother is and provides the best possible care for my mother in a loving and happy environment! "

"My mom moved into Bayside Terrace. So far, it's been great. She's only been in there four days, but at this point, they've been wonderful, and they've taken good care of her. She is happier than the last place she was in another state. My mother loved the food, but I have not tried it. They provide games and do competitions like door decorating for the holidays. They do chair fitness, bingo, and cards. They also offer some outings to local shops. The room is for two people, it is fine. She's not used to having a roommate, but they're working it out. They've just gone through a renovation, so they're painting and laying floors, and everything looks nice. We chose it because of the airiness of the community, the friendliness of the residents, the helpfulness of the staff, and the cleanliness."

"Sweet Water is a small community. The place is very convenient. They have excellent staff and they're more hands on. The staff is well-dressed, looked professional, and they're all neat and clean. If you're looking for a very small community, that's a nice little community. But we were looking for memory loss, and it's really just assisted living there. "

"Oak Manor Senior Living Community was very nice. They had plenty of parking. They had villas in independent living, all spaced out across this wooded property. It's not a high-rise community. It's very quaint and very nice. Pam took me to the dining area. The dining was ordered off the menu. They have three meals a day. I even spoke with some of the residents there, and they loved it. They loved living there, which was nice to hear. Then Pam took me upstairs to show me a two-bedroom assisted living place with a companion. They each have their own bedroom, a nice big living room, and a nice big bathroom. Everything was clean and neat. I don't have any complaints about Oak Manor. Pam was wonderful."

"Sunstar Village is an awful place. It's small. I think they have like maybe 30 people. They can only handle up to 50, but they are about half full, and I can see why. The place is old and dingy, and they have very limited staff. I found that the security is not very good. They did offer me a private room with a nice bathroom, but everything is older. I met the owner. He was in his office, and he's a young guy. It needs a lot of help. It's pretty run-down. I saw a lot of residents in wheelchairs slumped over. I saw that in every room. I didn't find it to be very inviting or anything like that. The staff was kind of distracted, like she didn't really want to give the tour, even though I scheduled it. She obviously forgot because I showed up and she asked me why I was there. She was nice enough, but not upbeat, just kind of going through the motions. All I saw was the outside place where the smokers go. They have an activity room that doubles as a dining room. They don't have a separate wing for memory care. They mix them all up."
